SPEAKER 3
Donald Trump is uniting the world against the United States. They're like just mocking us right now. President Macron of France and Prime Minister Tusk of Poland mocking Donald Trump's handshake and posting about it. Prime Minister Tusk says handshakes with Donald's are usually quite a challenge as they mock Donald Trump's handshake.
0:24
Also speaking about mocking, mocking the American people's intelligence The MAGA Republicans, remember that informant that they talked about with all those FBI forms and that they were going to impeach President Biden based on this informant that they used? Well, that informant has now pled guilty to lying to the FBI.
0:46
lying on all of those forms in a normal judicial system that would make the mega republicans who elevated this guy criminal co-conspirators and criminal code defendants but we'll break that all down but yes they relied on quite literally someone who now admitted to lying and committing felonies with the mega republicans Does it shock you?

It's too bad that people let politics end friendships and destroy families. I am a Dem. and have several Rep. friends. We just do NOT discuss politics because it won't change anybody's mind. I had a good friend who was a Republican and made some disparaging remarks about Dems Iold him I was a Dem and from that time on he wouldn't answer any of my emails. After 3 I quit sending. We had been friends for many, many years and to let politics end that friendship was very disappointing.

How so? Their heads are buried in the propaganda machine. Everything they hear and are told will confirm to them that their hardship was put upon them by Democrats, Biden and Democrat policies of the last four years. They will be told as they are now that it may take years to free their country of Democrat polices and the destruction caused by the Biden crime family. In the meantime 2025 will be executed and the oligarchs will become more and more prominent. The coming inflation and job losses will all be blamed on the same Democrat polices and Biden. That narrative will continue for years. They will never hear it. Their empty skulls are a reverberation chamber for fascists, dictators, oligarchs and authoritarians. I'm sorry but they will not respond to the fascist overlords for years to come as you suggest.

We need to stand firm and tell these people that Trump is in charge - or soon will be, officially - and it's his sandbox now. Prices stabilized under Biden. Inflation came down from 9.2 to 2.3 percent under Biden. Unemployment was at a 50 year low under Biden. The stock market boomed under Biden. There was no recession under Biden. Bridges and roads and internet were built under Biden. Now Trump has taken over and it's gone to hell. Just keep repeating that.

A lot of his voters are not dumb people. But they have the means to get everything Trump and Co block and prevent general US public from, from outside the US. We have EU residency, properties in two EU nations. This morning my husband I talked about we can get our routine vaccines here in Rome or in Lisbon. They are not dumb but simply selfish evil.

You are talking about a minority of citizens. Most of us have never traveled outside the USA. Certainly, even those of average means who do a cruise, do not actually learn anything about other places. Good for you; residency, properties. That tells me you are far above my economic status in life. I was exactly the type of person who is currently repuglican; evangelical, working class, high school grad. After getting my degrees, and a period of 10 years of deconstruction of the religion, I am now socialist knowing capitalism does not deliver for the average worker. So no, most are just dumb. the ones with money who support this nazi-like movement are the evil persons.

Loved the video of Macron and Tusk making humor of trump and his pathetic macho handshake. Is it possible to hope that world leaders will freeze him out - give him no platforms or credibility. Reading that NATO members are discussing increasing the %GDP required for military support to NATO. And reading that NATO is discussing (recognizing publicly) the need to be better prepared for threats from Russia. Are these indications that trump's ability to threaten NATO is much reduced. If only there were some leaders in the U.S. who would stand up to him.

Love the Meidas Touch. You guys are doing so much. This is probably too big of an ask, but here it goes. Please have links below your videos/podcasts so that I have the info to write to my congressmen and senators. In theory I could watch/listen and then retrace your research, and then look up if my congressmen/senator was involved in whatever crazy thing they are doing, and then write to them/share on social to my neighbors. But, in reality, I work full time, I commute, I’m raising my kids, and trying to start my own business, so I end up listening while driving/watching at work and then clicking on the next podcast/video and not letting my representatives or neighbors know what is going on. I’m in MAGA-land so I need to be armed with facts, because I’m surrounded by people steeped in the right-wing swamp brain rot propaganda. Last weekend I had to endure a parade of pickups waving flags equating Chump with Jesus. A local hair dresser is being slandered on Facebook for making a video saying she was sad that Harris lost. Please have links to: articles of news that you mention, the actual bills if possible or bill numbers in Congress being proposed so that I can reference them in letters. Then I could write a letter that says “Dear Congressmen/Senator Shameful, I am disappointed in your vote on bill #4547 to end a basic human right. Or for your participation to aid, abet and harbor child sex traffickers by voting to not release the Matt Snakes ethics report.”

Everyone might benefit from reading How to Stand Up to a Dictator, by Maria Ressa (Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2021). Her story of standing up through her journalism is a multi-decade roller-coaster of courage, heart, community, data, facts, integrity, team-work and it is still ongoing as the Philippines is still under the thumb of the Marcos dynasty. Over time, her efforts to try to effect change at FB proved unworkable despite what she knew and could prove. But FB did not care. She says we cannot fix the issues without fixing the effect of these tech companies... who amplify the anger/hate/dividion because it pays... It is the intersection of tech and MSM and influencers and the deliberate mechanisms that tie all three together that the MAGAts excelled at (they must have learned from Duterte - the prior strongman in the Philippines who perfect that with FB's help). Anyway, its a great book, highly worth reading.

What’s the penalty malpractice of Trumps actions and selling the health and safety of us and our children and our children’s children!

This is criminal conduct. All the lies and false promises he’s made ! MAGA and Trumps followers had better be as loud as they were complaining about Biden’s great success.

You believed his lies and you knew they were lies !

How could you do this? He will try to blame others as he always does ! Don’t forget !!!!!

Which is why I now have nothing but contempt for the tiny larger half that voted for all these scumbags. And, I am not sure people are ACTUALLY waking up and realizing anything. Who? Who are the ones who are actually waking up. They are all delusional, and filled with idiocracy. We are doomed. And a large reason is because the Democrats have failed in their resistance to all this; they have failed to deliver, and continue to be stupid.

President Biden did a lot of good things for the American people. Then he blew it all up by refusing to be the "bridge" President he said he would be. He let his arrogance and ego come before protecting democracy. That's not real leadership -- that's hubris. I'm sorry Joe's ego was damaged, but that's nothing compared to what will happen to ordinary Americans now that Trump and his thugs have regained control of this country.

I have a problem with your response. I understand your sentiment but disagree with your perspective. Holding good people entirely responsible for the actions of evil people is a mistake I see too many Democrats, liberals, and progressive make. A lot of people demand that we must be held accountable for the malevolence of others when we should instead focus our righteous ire on the GOP. It's like blaming a domestic violence victim for "making the abuser mad" instead of calling out and stopping the abuser's terrible behavior.

It's also not clear that if Biden had not run that whoever was nominated was a surefire winner in the general election. I believe this is a myth we should set aside. It's also another example of thinking it's only Biden's fault when Harris lost the election. DJT's campaign was built on lies and garbage. Thinking that if only Biden had stepped aside would have been effective while glossing over the heinous propaganda is how we delude ourselves from targeting who's really responsible.

Expand full comment
Dik de Bruijn's avatar

I find nothing in your reply to disagree with -- in fact, I agree with most of it! If anything is amiss, I would suggest that you inferred from what I said that I think it's only Biden's fault that Harris lost. Far from it! I think a number of mistakes were made by Harris, including her VP pick. And you are entirely correct that it's not clear that whoever was nominated -- had Biden kept his word -- would have won. We can't do the control. I most definitely do not believe that "if only Biden has stepped aside" . . . but I do believe that had Biden kept his word, there would have been a far greater chance of having a successful candidate. As far as the heinous propaganda, I don't gloss over it. I fully understand that the propaganda is WHY Trump's base loves him. They don't see it as propaganda but as wonderful bed-time stories to with which to console themselves.

In any event, I very much appreciate your well thought out and written reply. Thank you very much for posting it.

Sadly, not true. We simply have no power. If we did, none of this would be happening, and of course, we'd have nice things in America, too. We don't. Remember what corporations have done when they outsourced our good jobs to unregulated countries with no labor laws and no environmental laws. We are the new 3rd world. Mired in poverty, sickness, early death and child early death. Fathers will have to pimp out their children and their wives to their masters in order to survive. Just like the days of Dickens and the early days represented in the books The Iron Heel (Jack London), The Jungle (Upton Sinclair) and of course, Charles Dickens himself. (BTW, those books are free as ebooks from Gutenberg.org. We, the people, have already been sold into slavery.

I admire your optimism. However, the American people as a whole are apparently either too lazy, too stupid, or too comfortable. Otherwise, where the hell are they? Our brothers and sisters in other countries have more courage. THEY are out in the streets, by the droves. Where are we? Well, like me, letting their fingers do the walking and the protesting. I am too old to get out into the streets. At 73, falling down can be fatal. Good luck to all you younger folk. It is your world, and your children's future that is now at stake. I don't have much faith in our country's people, and even less faith in our ability to overcome the now overwhelming influence and power of the extremist right wing. I grew up in an entirely different country than we now live in.

I continue to support MTN, continue to spread the word, pass out 'business cards' with the network name and pro-democracy advocacy, as well as try to tell as many Democrats who may not yet know about this wonderful Meidas Mighty group, but I don't really have too much faith in a rising up of people. Otherwise, Marx would have been right over 150 years ago. Sadly, the working class won't rise up and help themselves. And no one else has stepped up either.

How well WILL we react when they come for our neighbors or ourselves, marching us off in the middle of the night in black SUVs? Not easy when you are arrested and stripped of your rights and your property.

I understand what you are saying. I never said I would willingly go off into the sunset in passivity. I merely meant that WE HAVE NO POWER to be making the changes that the American people WANT but simply cannot get our government to do what the majority wants, and that is because of capitalism, and it's corrosive influence on the democratic process, which we currently do not have. Further, I can't see the resolution of this during our lifetimes. It is going to take more than 'some' efforts by less than 1/2 of our population to make a difference, and that, frankly,. is going to take physical action and potential arrests and potential loss of ability to rent homes, buy homes, get a job, or even get access to government programs that get tied into if you've been arrested or many other things used to control the little people ) or other government programs. I personally have told a number of folks, if they come banging on my door in the middle of the night, I'm locked and loaded, and will take one of them out before they then take me out. I also did not mean I am going to lay down and accept this crap. But mostly, I meant, if we, the people, had the POWER to do anything, we wouldn't be shouting at the TV in frustration and/or fury because the pugs are insane, and the Dems, for the most part in the higher leadership places, simply seem to be either deaf, stupid, or willfully ignoring what needs to be done. Just as we helplessly watched the Jan 6 Committee give all their great findings, and then the Senate simply refuse to convict. So. yeah How must power did we have? Why hasn't DJT been already placed in jail? Mmm, because judges either have failed us, or were corrupt (Supreme monarchs, Aileen Cannon) or others too cowardly to bring charges.

Anyone remember Vincent Bugliosi's book about someone, anyone who was an Attorney General, bringing charges of murder against George W Bush because he lied us into war and caused all our American soldier's deaths? Not one AG that had the power and the standing ever followed this up. Vincent Bugliosi, if we all remember, was the prosecutor who successfully convicted Charles Manson even though he didn't actually commit those crimes. So, as average, non-connected, non-wealthy people, we have no power except in a mass number, and frankly, the American people have also failed us. I'm still waiting to hear about how this election was not legitimate, although our side is just ever so timid to even talk about it, except Greg Palast and a few others. So maybe this explains my mindset. I don't think we are that far apart on how we feel.
