SPEAKER 3
Trump's inauguration ratings were absolutely awful, the worst ever. His approval rating is abysmal, maybe even the worst ever. His loathsome executive orders are despised almost universally by Americans. His Term is spiraling even quicker than we expected. His attempt to distract us all has failed. Prices are not lower. They're higher. Housing is not more affordable. It's less affordable.
0:35
There's no peace in Ukraine. Trump's plan to do social media posts as a way to handle the Ukraine lawful invasion by Russia. Just very odd. He gave this speech at the World Economic Forum where he was just like, you know what? We're probably just going to have to leave it to Russia.
0:55
We'll see what Russia wants to do. He's been giving a bunch of these press conferences and these unhinged speeches. Each one looks worse than the next. I mean, this guy needs like a 5150 involuntary psychological hold. If I didn't even know who he was, even if I know he was, I think he deserves one. Even Hannity.

Trump’s presidency is spiraling faster than expected, and the numbers don’t lie—his approval ratings are abysmal, his executive orders are loathed, and his desperate attempts to distract the public have failed spectacularly. Prices are rising, housing is more unaffordable than ever, and his so-called peace plan for Ukraine? A weak social media post and a speech suggesting Russia should handle it. Meanwhile, his speeches and interviews are increasingly unhinged—so much so that even Sean Hannity seemed baffled at Trump pardoning insurrectionists. Federal judges are already shutting him down, with a major loss in court over his unconstitutional birthright citizenship ban. And in the tech world, Trump’s billionaire allies are at war, with DOGE in chaos after its top lawyer quit. It’s all falling apart—faster than anyone imagined. Ben, Brett and Jordy deliver the latest updates on the MeidasTouch Podcast!

"Nothing mattered, in the end. Not the probable dementia, the unfathomable ignorance, the emotional incontinence; not, certainly, the shambling, hate-filled campaign, or the ludicrously unworkable anti-policies.

The candidate out on bail in four jurisdictions, the convicted fraud artist, the adjudicated rapist and serial sexual predator, the habitual bankrupt, the stooge of Vladimir Putin, the man who tried to overturn the last election and all of his creepy retinue of crooks, ideologues and lunatics: Americans took a long look at all this and said, yes please.

There is no sense in understating the depth of the disaster. This is a crisis like no other in our lifetimes. The government of the United States has been delivered into the hands of a gangster, whose sole purpose in running, besides staying out of jail, is to seek revenge on his enemies. The damage Donald Trump and his nihilist cronies can do – to America, but also to its democratic allies, and to the peace and security of the world – is incalculable." - Robert Reich

". . . a major loss in court over his unconstitutional birthright citizenship ban." I don't think so. A temporary block is not a major loss but was to be expected and may already be planned around. Or not -- hard to tell with Trump.

Until we have a Dem leadership that is willing to work for Americans instead of worrying about keeping their own jobs, we will have Trump or his successor thugs. Dem leadership must refuse to go along with this legacy nonsense that gave us 2 candidates that lost to Trump: Clinton and Biden. Yes, Biden, because his arrogance meant that Harris was nothing more than a last-minute proxy forced on us. Thank you for keeping us focused. We will not be distracted. We will continue to organize and keep doing what we always do to share the truth and protect our democracy. We will never forget or lose or betray our values. We will maintain and foster our dedication to protect our families, our friends, our neighbors and our fellow citizens. We will continue to uphold our rights for “we the people” because all people are created equal and everyone has a right to say in their government, not just a handful of billionaires!

We will be heard. We’re not gonna shut up. We’re gonna keep doing what we always do. We’re gonna work together to speak out against injustice. There will be a backlash in 2026. We will constantly labor to “form a more perfect union, established justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provided for the common defense, promote the general welfare and ensure the blessings of liberty to ourselves in our posterity.”

Expand full comment
Dik de Bruijn's avatar

So sorry, but not all people are created equal. Nice sentiment, though. And as far as a right to say in their government, sure, you can say whatever you want. But you can't talk louder than the billionaires who have the politicians' ears, so what you say will not matter and probably won't even be heard.

Expand full comment
Eileen G's avatar

I would also like to point your attention to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 1:

Article 1

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”

Expand full comment
Eileen G's avatar

Well, you either believe that all people are created equal or you believe that some people think that they are better than others and have the right to rule over others which leads to abuse and slavery, so no thank you. The Declaration of Independence spells it out that all men (aka. people) are created equal.

Expand full comment
Dik de Bruijn's avatar

Well, no. As with many things, this idea of "created equal" depends on your beliefs, perspective, and definitions. What does "created" mean to you? Is this something a god does? Is someone with no legs "created equal" to someone who has all 4 extremities? Is someone with an IQ of 50 "created equal" to someone with an IQ of 150? If your answer to these scenarios is yes, just now we live in a free country and you can share your beliefs. But don't make the mistake of believing everyone shares them. Ex: MAGA thugs targeting anyone whose beliefs differ from theirs.

With regard to the Declaration of Independence, when it was written men = white property owners. Men ≠ people of color or women. That's why the Constitution had to be amended with birthright citizenship and women's suffrage.

With regard to the Universal Declaration . . . it states, "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights." It doesn't say "created equal." Furthermore, it's aspirational: "They are endowed with reason and conscience . . . " We know that's not true. Does a serial killer have a conscience? Does Trump? Is he "endowed with reason?" And don't forget this part, that people "should" act in a certain way. Doesn't mean they will. Ample evidence to the contrary, in fact.

Expand full comment
Eileen G's avatar

Dude, you’re splitting hairs and adding more to the topic than the basic meaning the framers of the Declaration of Independence were saying. The humanistic goal of the common good for Christ sake! Jesus. You know the whole do unto others thing??? … unalienable, rights, life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, etc., etc. etc. As in voting rights and having a right to a say in your government.

Expand full comment
Dik de Bruijn's avatar

The "basic meaning of the framers" was that only white male property owners counted. That's not splitting hairs -- it's an historical fact. And that sentiment is still around and fueling a lot of the hatred/anger of some voters. And is the goal of the "common good" enshrined in the restriction of women's rights in Texas? Not in my opinion. However, the people of Texas had a say in what their government did, so I guess that's OK with you.

Expand full comment
Eileen G's avatar

The people did not have an equal say in TX - hello gerrymandering!! Tyranny of the minority must end and will. That’s the goal of all people are created equal, and they have a right to say in their government.

Give it time. A conservative federal judge called his attempt to ban birthright citizenship "blantantly unconstitutiona." His overreach is already showing public disapproval (including his J6 pardons), and his grossly incompetent cabinet members will just end up making him look bad. His current "victories" will be seen as failures soon enough, at least for those of us playing the long game. We all know how this is going to play out-another failed presidency that will place him at the top of the list of America's worst presidents. It's just a question of how much harm he will do to the rest of us.

Expand full comment
Dik de Bruijn's avatar

Thank you very much for your optimistic perspective. I wish I could agree with you. And I wish we all knew how this is going to play out, but, again, I don't share your perspective. Agreed! I've just been down this road many times in my 63 years and the arc of justice has improved during that time, despite setbacks. This could be a big one, but the overreach could come back to bite them. It took 80 years to overcome Jim Crow laws in the US, and it could take decades to purge this disease. I don't know if that's optimism or blind faith but I don't mean to underplay the damage.

"News broke recently that dozens of families are being caged in Texas, at Karnes County Detention Facility — and hundreds if not thousands of families are likely to join them soon.

Families from our communities nationwide are now at risk of disappearing from our schools, play groups, workplaces, places of worship, doorsteps — and into the private prison black hole that robs people of their dignity, no matter who or how young they are.

We must ALL raise our voices against this injustice before it’s too late. Please sign on now to oppose this inhumane policy.

RAICES has been providing access to legal relief in the Karnes detention facility since it opened in 2014, but now we’re seeing an escalation in punitive immigration enforcement that we hoped this nation would never experience.

Under the Trump administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is emboldened to invade our communities and empower agents to detain and disappear our neighbors. The consequences of this extend far beyond immigrants. It sets a grave precedent that affects us ALL — and we must take action together.

Add your name to fight on the side of justice and human rights for every family in our communities.

This isn’t about lawful versus unlawful immigration pathways — because not even permanent status is assured under an administration endeavoring to end birthright citizenship, expand the effort to strip people of their citizenship, and render constitutional rights inaccessible for those with green cards.

It’s up to each of us to fight for our shared rights — even and especially when they’re not met with mass public approval. Because we care about our neighbors. Because we care about our communities. Because we know that you and I are not safe from gross abuses of power and miscarriages of justice until all of us are safe.

If we don’t, we’ll be claiming the defeat of law and order — of the American experiment. How un-American.

Thank you for signing on to join the fight today." (Daily Kos/RAICES)......

Not because the crisis is over — but because they’d rather pretend it doesn’t exist.

Here’s the truth they’re trying to bury:

Gun violence is the #1 killer of kids and teens in the United States.

Every year, it takes more than 45,000 lives across this country.

It’s a public health emergency — and they’re choosing to erase it.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t just censorship. It’s cowardice. And it puts lives at risk.

Without real federal leadership, we’re looking at:

No national plan to prevent gun violence.

Less funding for research and solutions.

More silence, more suffering — and zero accountability.

They can delete pages, but they can’t delete the truth — and they can’t silence this movement.

"The war on women has new momentum now that MAGA is back in power, and it could ultimately lead to American women losing the right to vote, argued a senior writer at Salon.

Amanda Marcotte wrote in Wednesday's piece that Donald Trump's success in repealing Roe — the landmark 1973 decision that gave women automony over their own bodies — has emboldened right-wing factions looking to strip women of even more rights.

Marcotte posted that "many on the right feel they no longer need to hide the naked sexism fueling their movement or put up with the annoyance of women in even token leadership positions," now that Trump is once again in charge.

"Forty-five percent of female voters backed Trump in 2024, despite his overt misogyny," Marcotte wrote. "Most, no doubt, believed that complicity would protect them, and that the attacks would be centered on other women. But while the GOP certainly wants to strip liberal and feminist women of their rights, male MAGA leaders are showing increasing interest in bringing Republican women to heel, both culturally and through the force of law." When are some of these self-proclaimed macho men, in the GOP and MAGA, going to stand up to Trump, FOR OUR COUNTRY, DEMOCRACY, CONSTITUTION, RULE OF LAW?! So far they have proven to be lying spineless traitors, who continue to kiss Trump's ass for a buck, and Iawless, unlimited power! How do they even look their children, families, and constituents in the eye, while betraying them all every day. All will be recorded in history, as a complete corrupt disgrace, traitors to the United States of America, who chose to turn their backs on the USA, betray us, and team with communist, murderous Russia, and has stomped all over our Constitution and laws.

TRUMP + GOP + MAGA = TRAITORS

"During an appearance on MSNBC on Saturday afternoon, Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) hammered Donald Trump for his blanket pardon of Jan. 6 "criminals," claiming the president has made the streets of America and the Capitol less safe.

"I mean, as soon as they got out of prison, they were roaming around the Capitol looking for some of the same people they assaulted on January 6th," he added. "Does that make anyone feel good? No. This is supposed to be a country of laws where you respect the law, where no one is above the law, where you don't release people from prison for politics."

His case gave the court the opportunity to stand for the rule of law, and a senior federal district judge of more than four decades, John C. I'm thankful for the Meidas network, and I hope it will continue to give us a more truthful news source. However, I'm afraid it's out-voiced by the other networks that are colluding with the Right to distract us from some important issues such as The Jack Smith Report, similar to what happened with The Mueller Report.I haven't seen anything about them in a week or so.

In addition, the controversy about Bishop Budde, which enjoyed a couple of days in the limelight, Is virtually gone along with its amazing opportunity to enlighten the extremist religious right and other Christians who want to know what happened to their Faith as characterized by the so-called evangelicals and which brought such division and chaos on our country. Republicans say the Bishop politicized the message from Jesus to show mercy to those who have no voice and no power to change their status in life. This would have been a great opportunity to show how illusory is the division between Church and State, and what can happen when ignorance about the Church's mission to bring the influence of Jesus and the New Testament to bear on the current dismantling of our democracy.

The Republicans say that the words of the gospel to show mercy won't work, because They're " too weak." They don't seem to recognize that the New Testament messages of Jesus show Him as "a liberal." Could you invite or prod other religious leaders to speak to this misunderstanding that the Word is "too weak or too Liberal to be of any use in government?" Could you show something about the fact that Jesus was killed because of the Roman political government's view of him as an insurrectionist and political agitator? I'm afraid this is too much to ask, but it won't happen on other media.

Pete Hegseth, are you kidding me! Trump and his clown car are moving forward! Sickens me. I am not a college educated woman, but even I can see that we have given him the keys to the kingdom. Starting with him stealing the election from Kamala just like he did Hillary. Now he has pardoned 32 Thugs that committed an insurrection. Only 1 woman my age said no. What good is it to build a community like this if were not going to use it. You think he gives 2 _ _ _ _ S about the rule of law. Our only hope is to take to the streets as we did to free the slaves, give women the right to vote, have authority over there own life and body, how far down the scale does this country need to go before we wake up. I love you guys and I just want you to know I'm 71 years old and still ready for the fight!

I am so sick of Trump! I just don't understand how we could let this happen. Something should be done to oust Trump, before he destroys everything. He is the biggest cancer in America, and the world. His ego is insatiable and he'll stop at nothing to get what he wants. He has now unleashed the insurrectionists, terrorists, and white supremists. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IN AMERICA, OR ANYWHERE ELSE IN THIS WORLD!!!

I wish Meidas were right, but Trump's term is not "in collapse." Perhaps it's true that "his approval ratings are abysmal, his executive orders are loathed, and his desperate attempts to distract the public have failed spectacularly." However, Hegseth has been confirmed as Sec Def. How does that figure as a collapse? American citizens were included in an immigration round-up today. How does that figure as a collapse? I subscribe to the podcast and wish I were as optimistic as the Meidas gang apparently is. Rather, it seems to me that it's more of the wishful thinking -- Trump has sex with a microphone, now his base will desert him! -- that got us to this point.
