trump will blanket pardon everyone. Just watch. Only saving grace is trump dropping ⚰️ 🙏🏻 i wouldn't doubt he blanket pardons the entire military. Everyone. He knows what he's doing is way past illegal, what he's ordering is past illegal. He needs to go visit Ivana. On his way down 🔥

READ IN APP

U.S. President Donald Trump waves from his car window after arriving aboard Marine One, coming home from Houston, Texas, on the Ellipse near the White House in Washington, D.C., U.S., August 28, 2026. REUTERS/Jonathan Ernst

It’s Saturday, August 29th. Let’s get into the news, and I’ll keep it quick so you can get on with your day.

Here are today’s top stories:

Trump’s Venezuela oil deal, and why the numbers don’t add up

Venezuelan economists and an opposition figure are calling the deal a ripoff and a “land grab”

Iran is accusing U.S.-aligned actors of manipulating energy markets, while also floating diplomacy

A new lawsuit alleges Trump’s so-called Freedom Fuel gas stations that were undercutting market prices were selling…stolen fuel

The U.S. is reportedly now bullying the UK by using the Falkland Islands as leverage against Britain over defense spending

Trump’s National Park sell off plan

Top Republicans are admitting the economy is a big problem, and they’re trying their best to distract from it

Now let’s dive in.

The “Biggest Oil Deal In World History” Isn’t What It Sounds Like…

Trump posted last night that the United States had locked up majority control of more than 65B barrels of proven Venezuelan oil reserves in a deal negotiated with new Venezuelan leader Delcy Rodriguez. He called it the biggest oil deal in history, in all caps, of course.

The problem is that proven reserves aren’t the same thing as oil you can actually pump, refine, sell, and so on. You don’t have to take my word of it. Let’s look at the experts. GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan pointed out that this 65B number is basically just a geological estimate… not oil sitting in a tank ready to use. It’d take ENORMOUS investment and YEARS of infrastructure work before any of it reaches a gas pump. In Trump’s post, he promised that this Venezuela “deal” would quickly result in lower prices. His followers should be ready for more disappointment.

Also, the crude in question isn’t the easy kind. It’s the heavy, degraded stuff that most U.S. refineries aren’t built to process. You’d need new refining capacity built from scratch, which could take 5-15 years.

That's a separate article in Substack written by Ben Meiselas. That's NOT this video. I haven't read that article yet, nor am I commenting on the article written by Ben. Stay on topic, Edward.

Where are 'Chuckles' Schumer and AIPAC Shikir Jeffries???? Doing more secret meetings behind our backs.....colllecting AIPAC cheques???

Every day with every move they make this CORRUPT Regime makes America a WEAKER, SICKER, MORE UNHEALTHY place! And the Billionaires they support more wealthy than could have ever imagined. That is why the Billionaires back them and NOT the American people, who they see as expendable and of having little value beyond taking money from and using and abusing to get what they want.........

Wade Baynham's avatar

Thank you both for your courage, clarity, truth-telling and willingness to help educate all of us on the criminality and ineptness of the Trump regime.

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Thanks for watching and responding!

Wade Baynham's avatar

I've been following Meidas Defense and Professor Maurer for a while. You both help keep me sane in the midst of the firehose of lies from Hegseth and Trump. I'm grateful.

Cheri's avatar

Put Trump & all his elected people in prison, this situation is criminal and critical, They're killing us‼️

Linda Skinner's avatar

Why do service members obey illegal orders? Aren’t they allowed to refuse?

Joe Plenzler's avatar

When they fire the judge advocate generals who help commanders interpret the laws, it becomes more difficult. Some instances are easier than others - like if is SSgt orders a corporal to shoot a prisoner and the corporal says, “No.” When it’s a 19 y/o drone operator being told by a colonel to fire the missile, they are gonna fire the missile. The officers should and do know better and should be held accountable.

joni's avatar

Well, you know what happened to Major Jason Watson!!!

I hope he will be reinstated and all charges dropped when we have a regime change!

Deborah Crawford's avatar

Give him hegseth's job.

Kristi Eisenberg's avatar

Isn’t it illegal to obey illegal orders?

Joe Plenzler's avatar

No. In fact, military members are obligated not to follow illegal orders.

NJ Osborne's avatar

A courtmarshal for sure,

Unless you’re a POW ,and even then.

Donald Hammers's avatar

For the lower echelon officers and enlisted personnel, that decision to refuse an order is remote. The consequences of refusing an order are extreme and may be construed as treason.

Kristi Eisenberg's avatar

How about the generals, are the supposed to follow illegal orders?

Terry's avatar

Refusing to follow an illegal order is treason? That's pretty fucked up.

NJ Osborne's avatar

The only one that is conspiring with the enemy,

Putin, for many years, to tear down our American democracy

Is 🐔DJ T💩known as the ☢️RANGE MONSTER‼️

Donald Hammers's avatar

Got to be so careful when you are in a military unit. It's like you do what you are told or you pay a high price for your insubordination. Only those who do or have done military service really understand my comment.

Terry's avatar

One of my best friend's was in the navy for 16 years. I've discussed this and other topics with him at length. He would quit, just as he did in the 90s when he didn't like what he was being told.

Illegal is illegal. Murder is murder. No ifs ands or buts about it. I don't care who your commander is or who the president of the United States is. The 6 that made the video were absolutely correct. You do not follow a person, you follow your oath, PERIOD.

Von717's avatar

Rump and his administration are childlike brainless baboons playing war games in a effort to make themselves look powerful .

RaggedTulip's avatar

So does that mean we have some generals that need to be charged for following illegal orders? And not following their oath?

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Presumably yes.

Donald Hammers's avatar

For the lower echelon officers and enlisted personnel, that decision to refuse an order is remote. The consequences of refusing an order are extreme and may be construed as treason.

Karen Close's avatar

Yes, and they got rid of the JAG officers who could defend those who chose to defy those illegal commands. Seems to me that’s the plan.

Karen Close's avatar

Not exactly “new ground” as the “I was just following orders.” defense was soundly defeated after WW 2. This is what makes these decisions such high stakes for all involved, and why even Congress members who continue to support #47 with their votes, in spite of the will of the people, are in such trouble (I hope).

Donald Hammers's avatar

Now you are getting into the roots of the issue. Since we have the current Commander in Chief with the "me first and to H with everyone else" attitude, there comes a time when our military leaders need to make those tough decisions. We are traveling over some new ground with this regime.

Karen Close's avatar

Not many as they usually “retire” when they get to the point of having to make that decision.

Terry's avatar

They're already following illegal orders and giving illegal orders. Who's retired, except those forced out or those that have had a conscious shortly after kegsbreath came along?

Elizabeth Greene's avatar

is there any hope we can correct some of this stuff.? Once the midterms are done, and we can get some people with brains in there

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Yes. Vote for better leaders. Call your sitting member of congress and senators. Protest. Organize. Write.

Deborah Crawford's avatar

Hopefully, but they will have a steep hill to climb. Also, there are 2 months between midterms and swearing in for the ghouls currently in power to make things even worse.

WJB Motown's avatar

It does not matter.......that 30 percent of braindead Maggots will follow Taco right to the final cup of Orange Kool-Aid.

joni's avatar

So we have a list of things, and most of us are already aware of at least some of them-how could we not be ? BUT...I want to know what ordinary people, who do not have the monies of these disreputable people, in congress or not, can do ? I always thought that there were checks and balances, and indeed, there used to be. Now that this orange felon and his minions of project 2025 have taken over the Supreme Court and weaponized the DOJ, the military under hegseth, the FBI with patel, and the list goes on...what can we do ? We will vote, of course, but trmp will send in ICE if needs must; he is already tampering with the ballots, ie. by mail, etc. We know what is wrong...so tell me, HOW DO "WE, THE PEOPLE" fix this ???

Deborah Crawford's avatar

For now, have gentle conversations with others and encourage them to vote courageously.

joni's avatar

I hear you. But, it seems so trite, if. you will, and it is difficult to be "gentle" with stupid, stubborn obstinacy! I do try, though....but it is soooo exhausting!

Deborah Crawford's avatar

I know. Maybe start with what you think might be common values... like food, a home, etc.? I guess, what I am hoping is that legal and peaceful means will prevail. Hope springs eternal. The next 5 or 6 months are going to be a turning point, one way or another. And there is this:

It was dangerous to put a tv personality in charge of the military. It is like Hegseth is navigating a bad movie with his macho swagger. He has too much power over generals who know what they are doing. His rhetoric is dangerous. His policies are inhumane. When you have a woman who was raped, needing to go to Workmen’s Comp., for compensation rather than to the military lawyers; when you have a sailor who genuinely needs access to mental health help being disciplined for trying to kill himself, there is something truly wrong with the morality of this military. Someone will be held to account for the murders of the people murdered in International waters. Hegseth is drunk on power.

Angie's avatar

Hegseth is just a murderer. He isn't a soldier. He needs to die in prison.

Edward mead's avatar

Weak Donald Trump has to be in the middle of anything that is good. Because Donald Trump runs with the Trash of Trash.

I would say that all of Weak Donald Trump's friends, you could count on one hand, WEAK Trump wants to be Loved, and no one does. WEAK Trump is a rapist, a 34-count Convicted Criminal and a two-time Impeached President and the leader of the Raid on the overthrow of the USA by Trump's thugs, called thew MAGA gang. On Jan 06.2021. Trump should be in jail. and not in the Oval Office eating Weak Trump cookies and Potato chips Ard candy wrappers, on the floor of the bedroom.

Deborah Crawford's avatar

What's shocking about this is that trump pardoned these drugs lords:

- Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández (Convicted in 2024 of large-scale drug trafficking and weapons charges for conspiring to smuggle over 400 tons of cocaine into the United States, running Honduras like a narco-state) and

- Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht (Convicted in 2015 of running an underground online narcotics platform that facilitated over $200 million in illegal drug transactions).
