Unless you really know something about the nuclear industry and how the materials are made, stored, and how it is used you’re like Don Quixote and flailing at the windmills.

While I’m not an expert in a nuclear area, I did work for utility that had two nuclear plants. Looking how they use the material and store in such a large container containers raises lots of concerns about logistics. I am sure that the gentleman’s article is at Best the most logical and maybe even underestimating the task to get this nuclear material out of Iran. The only way I see us getting it is if we had their cooperation. That’s what happened with Russia and so you have to have a dialogue and a reasonable settlement.

Again, I’m not a nuclear expert, but I’ve looked it up on the Internet and compared it and a couple of different AI sites and it’s very apparent. This is not a small task and would take some well trained and numerous individuals, lots of equipment and materials, and a plan to get it from Iran to some other place. The shipping alone is a real task. This is a Herculean task.

Yep. And when Israel and the US bombed these sites last summer, who knows what the conditions of the containers are under the rubble. Imagine digging into a radioactive superfund site while under fire by Iranian forces. I don't think it could be done in a non-permissive environment without significant casualties and at great expense. The probability of catastrophic failure is immense.

More need to hear the particulars about how things are really done 👍

No nothings are in charge.

That's true. The current Pentagon leadership is breathtakingly incompetent.

I believe every nation has a right to possess nuclear weapons since nine nations (Russia, the United States, China, France, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, India, Israel, and North Korea) already have them.

Nations like Iran want them for the same reasons the nine who currently possess them do.

If the nine nations who have them don’t want other nations to possess them, then they should give up their own.

Nuclear weapons are inhumane to use as weapons. They allow those who have them to bully and intimidate other nations into submission. How about we get all 195 nations on our planet to sign an agreement not to possess nuclear weapons since the world wants them not to be used against anyone.

It truly is inhumane as it can melt people and expose our planet to harmful radiation that is not naturally found on earth. It’s like taking a chunk of the suns core and exposing people to it. It’s insane. Even the father of nuclear energy (Oppenheimer) was against it after he saw what the USA did to Japan with it.

The world would be a more peaceful place for humanity and our environment if world leaders would just agree to disarm nuclear weapons and stop pursuing enrichment beyond using it peacefully for energy.

Problem is that plans, technical specifications, and the historical record are all in the public domain. Anyone who studies nuclear physics and has an advanced degree could build one Pandora’s box is open and it’s decades too late to lock it up. Now any country with enough money and smart scientists can get the material enrich it enough and they can build a bomb. Countries want a bomb for protection, mostly against the US

If you’re NOT a Trump supporter... be honest with yourself:

Do you actually think impeaching him right now is a smart move?

Look at the image above and think strategically for a second.

Impeaching Trump would hand the presidency straight to JD Vance... the clear frontrunner for 2028. Vance could undo just a couple of Trump’s most controversial policies, appear more “reasonable” to center-left and center-right independents, and cruise to re-election.

This would be the third impeachment. The first two backfired spectacularly — one boosted his popularity, the second helped elect him in 2024. This one just turns him into a martyr with a permanent grievance.

We’ve seen this movie before… and it never ends well.

What’s your honest take? Is this really the strategy we want?

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Vance has the charisma of a potato. I don’t think he has a snowball’s chance in 2028. Check out his polling. It’s in the gutter.

Rxan Smith's avatar

Also you're right I don't know if you're replying to my survey that I have but I gave a talk at George Town University the other day and the hundred people that I spoke to were involved enough in political discourse that I would consider it a valid sample. I asked who they felt would be the Republican nominee and I gave three choices I gave Trump jr, , Marco rubio, where JD Vance as the choices....

If you had to guess, what percentage of the room clapped for each candidate to show that they think he would be the next nominee....

Rxan Smith's avatar

Oh my God why can't I restock my comments this is so hilarious....

Elaina Foley's avatar

The entire administration needs to be impeached.

Rxan Smith's avatar

Yeah I hear you Elena but obviously I'm teaching cabinet members is much more rare, and I believe it's only happened once but definitely not in the 20th or 21st century… I'm not talking about emotion. I'm talking about strategically, if you are a Democrat or someone that tends to vote for left-wing ideals come up do you think it's a strategically smart move?

Elaina Foley's avatar

This is the first time in my lifetime of 70 years where I have seen an entire administration as unfit and a danger to our nation. Not one person in his cabinet is qualified for the jobs they hold. Educated people who truly care about our nation would not have an issue with impeaching Trump, Vance and those in lead positions of this administration.

The people of this nation can be sold on selecting people with exceptional qualifications and experience to make our nation strong again. We have list our way and qualifications need to be required to hold these jobs. For example, one of the changes that is necessary is to require candidates to undergo security screenings long before elections take place. If they fail a screening test to meet security levels required for others in our government, then they should not be disqualified as a candidate.

Most all of Trump’s cabinet picks, including himself, would be disqualified for the jobs they hold.

I’m retired Navy and federal service. I had to undergo security clearance screening at the top secret level prior to assuming my jobs because my jobs required me to handle and be exposed to TS information. Presidents don’t undergo background checks and we now see how dangerous that is to our nation and our security.

Rxan Smith's avatar

Damn it I can't retweet comments this is very well thought out and very well said

Elaina Foley's avatar

The best way to handle this is to get all 195 nations to sign an international agreement to do away with nuclear weapons.

Rxan Smith's avatar

Agreed. I would love to write a piece on the top 10 inventions that mankind should have never made. This one is on the top of the list. It's amazing that every credible solution to climate change that I've read, those involve nuclear energy. Figures that human beings would figure out the way to wipe out the planet with it instead of go green with it. They like to go neon green I suppose

Forget impeachment; these individuals have made the decision that the laws don’t apply to them. They can do whatever they please. I wholeheartedly support arresting Trump when he attempts to return from China. Arrest his cabinet, Vice President, all the members involved in insider trading within the elected government, his children, and his money grubbing spawn have violated numerous laws by accepting bribes, outright stolen from government coffers (also known as taxpayers, or US, or we, the people!)

They’ve opened the doors for anything to happen. So lets make shit happen!!!

They cannot hold us to a standard of law. There IS NO standard of law. Why are we still trying to be ‘good citizens’ and follow a channel of law they don’t respect, uphold, or think is meant for term. Please. Start being outrageous, rude, uncompromising and lock these fucking devils up in gitmo. Until law and order is back in some form or another. Then we can begin considering this… if they are willing to release the Epstein Files, perhaps we, the people, will consider giving these pedophiles a fair trial. Or something similar.

I am so sick at the lies, bullshit, smug denial and no accountability.

What in hell are people willing to do to get these trillionaires disciplined and made to pay for the horror they’ve wreaked on their own citizens!?!?!

Rxan Smith's avatar

I get the frustration. Seriously. A lot of people feel like the rules only apply selectively right now.

But the second we say “the law doesn’t matter anymore,” we’ve already lost.

Arresting people without due process, locking political opponents up, deciding guilt by emotion instead of evidence… that’s not accountability. That’s power without constraint.

And history is pretty clear: once that door opens, it doesn’t stay aimed at one group. It expands.

If there are crimes, prove them. Charge them. Convict them. Transparently.

Because the alternative isn’t justice.

It’s just replacing one version of abuse with another.

No tribe here.... Ya.Know? Just reality that sounds like it belongs in a bumper sticker :

---You don’t fix a broken system by abandoning the rules that protect everyone.--

It seems to me we previously had a nuclear agreement with Iran. This Oaf terminated it during the 1st Clown Show because it irked him that the agreement was made by President Obama, who was an actual functioning President. Now thousands of people are pay the price with their lives and money in order fix that monumental error because Oaf's ego was hurt..

Joe Plenzler's avatar

Yep. The Strait of Hormuz was open earlier this year. Iran wasn't pursuing a nuclear weapon. They were enriching as a bargaining chip. The last leader had a fatwa against weaponizing it.

It amazes me that there are so many clever, intelligent, experienced and good-hearted citizens of the USA as The Honorable Andy Weber, and yet the ex-great country fell in the hands of bunch of crooks and idiots. How could that be possible? Smart, reasonable and good people of the USA UNITE and get rid of the rot that is destroying your wonderful country! With love from Poland.

Joe Plenzler's avatar

We're trying, Marek! And yes, you are entirely correct!

The NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) Review Conference is scheduled to take place very soon -- Apr 27-May 22. https://www.un.org/en/conferences/treaty-on-the-non-proliferation-of-nuclear-weapons-npt-2026/background

In addition, the Treaty on the Prohibition for Nuclear Weapons is incredibly important. Many nations have signed it -- but not the nuclear powers, including the US. Support it. Tell your elected leaders to support it - and elect candidates who will. It will have its first review conference in November. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_parties_to_the_Treaty_on_the_Prohibition_of_Nuclear_Weapons

I'm sure someone could invent this capability if it doesn't already exist. The larger problem, in my estimation, is securing the site and then countering any attacks from the IRGC's ground forces.

Government Corruption: What Nazi Republicans Are Not About

The last I heard the body of legislators called Congress exist to make lives better for WE the People, that is, the constituents the legislators represent The striking unpopularity of this Nazi Republican controlled Congress as reported by Harry Enten over at CNN….now at 90%....shows how the Nazi Republicans are so out of touch with what their responsibility is to their constituents That’s right, it’s more popular to think the earth is flat than think the Nazi Republicans are doing a good job And the bad job that this Nazi Republican Congress is doing is rubber stamping the widespread executive branch corruption overseen by Cheeto and his family

It’s clear that all dictators(in this case enabled by the Nazi SCOTUS and their immunity decision for Cheeto) pad the pockets of their family members…most recent example of Orban pushing billions to his son in law For Cheeto after firing 18 IG’s when he took office, now has decided to extend the Iranian war indefinitely(“don’t rush me” he now says after saying “no more wars”), so many government contracts around drone technology now get fed to his family members who are ready to tap into companies willing to sell those to Middle East allies No wonder Cheeto didn’t want Ukraine’s drone technology help…..Cheeto saw a $$$ making opportunity

It’s clear that Congressional Nazi Republicans would rather allow the corruption and have the taxpayers give them an open checkbook to line Cheeto and his allies’ pockets WE the People need to vote these fascists out of office and never let them see the light of public office again

My Thoughts on Urgent Times's avatar

Cutting (gutting) staff at these agencies that have been created to protect us... its kind of like treason. I mean, isn't that what would make all our "enemies" like Russia happier? Maybe tempt them to take advantage of us. My friend is always reminding me that Putin has something "over" Trump, to manipulate him, extort him. Or is it happening simply because a collection of extremely stupid people are now at the seat of power?
