I live in Iowa and the attack ads this year are insane. I heard a racist ad today on STAR 102.5 saying that Sarah Trone Garriet only wants to give farmers that aren't white money. They're shameless and absolutely disgusting and I can't believe STAR played that.
I think there is a real fatigue with voters. I hope we Democrats can channel an aspirational forward looking agenda after midterms and move the national conversation on. I think people want to feel called to better.
Unfortunately even after the election, it won't be over. The GOP has made it no secret they'll refuse the will of the voters and try to hold onto power. And trump already started by asking a federal judge to deny the election results in AK if the GOP loses.
My husband was watching the Northwestern football game against Michigan State last weekend. If that’s all they have to run on they are in trouble.

(Or didn't have the "right" message.)
She absolutely did, and no, she wasn't "talking past the people" she wanted to represent. She hammered on the economy relentlessly; how she worked with Joe Biden to focus on bread-and-butter issues and there was still so much more to do. And the media ignored it. They shaped their coverage around Trump. I remember the media ganging up on her after she was interviewed by someone — don't remember who — who asked how she responded to something Trump said and she said she preferred to talk about her own agenda. They called her "evasive" because she wouldn't let Trump shape her campaign.
In addition, the media's relentless month-long focus on Biden's alleged "cognitive decline" rubbed off on her too, tainting the public's sense of her judgment. It's so interesting we're not seeing a similar glut of "cognitive decline" stories about another individual who is much more clearly in "cognitive decline."
We won't even get into the whole "pro-Palestine"/"Killer Kamala" bunch who passed on voting and tried to convince others to do so.

I think the media played a role in the inability of Democrats to have people accept that things had improved even if they still needed to get better, which Kamala owned. The media spent Biden's entire term running stories with headlines like "Strong June jobs report but could a recession be around the corner?" Every improvement in the economy was framed that way, which led to voters thinking things had NOT improved or that Biden had not taken any steps to improve them. All of his bills that kept the economy from sinking were spun negatively by the Washington Post, which I had not yet unsubscribed from.
I unsubscribed since they wouldn't get rid of the "democracy dies in darkness" subheader even after Trump got fired the first time. But it wasn't just the Post framing every positive Biden did as negative. Most corporate owned media kept nagging on Biden while giving trump praise.
And when Trump finally comes and wrecks the economy, they go crickets and are hesitant to post how bad it actually is.
There will be no "new leadership," sicken Schumer and Jeffries have done a great job keeping Republicans at bay when they control every lever of government and will do even better when they have the majority. "Corporate dems" is a meaningless term and foregrounding AIPAC instead of the system of campaign finance is inherently anti-Semitic. And why only "progressive" donors? The field should be equal — and much more limited.
Hopefully you'll have the humility to eat your words when Schumer and Jeffries turn out to be strong leaders.
