Yes, you are CORRECT! 💙🏆💙

but nothing to worry about because "they" have been trying to raise the Third Reich since Humpster's Germany dream collapsed. Hate is going nowhere as is incompetence. When Americans are faced with evil somehow we band together across all spectrums to protect ourselves. We collectively are the ones who fight to protect and preserve Democracy.

I'm always amazed at how lines of differences of opinions, prejudices, etc. disappear when a monumental tragedy (Oklahoma City bombing (McVey), hurricane, tornadoes, etc.) wipes out swaths of folks. Suddenly, nothing matters except finding and rescuing survivors.

Goodness at the core is who we are. No, we're not perfect but, I marvel at how willing many of us are to repair the breach and seek balance at righting wrongs. We are the majority. We outnumber the tiny minority of MAGA loyalists who are intent on destroying our great nation.

We get back to partisanship and the "rest of the mess" (ROTM) once things begin to look "normal" aka wash, rinse and repeat. Unfortunately for Vance and his ilk ... "We're not going back!"

Expand full comment
Alex Paylor's avatar

The occurrences you mention were all sudden short term events. Trump's chipping away of the constitution and the government has been an ongoing day to day thing over a two month period. It's going to take an explosive one day event of horrific proportions to get the kind of reaction needed to band the people together. It also has to be be considered that America has never been this divided along political lines before. What cataclysmic event has to take place to bring the sides back together?

Expand full comment
Ed Garland's avatar

There was nothing sudden about the reactions to decades of oppression and bigotry. “Never been … divided along political lines before?” Historic facts do not align with your statement. As to a “cataclysmic event?” Perhaps the pardoned J6 thugs could best respond to your query.

This is all part of ‘growing up’ as a nation. Practically every country in the world has gone through these phases over their history USA is still young & forgets that fact. What is happening now has happened (still does) in all countries. From the Ancient Greeks and before Romans/ Europe & Great Britain - I could go on, but you know what I mean.

Your country is not yet a ‘teenager’ in nationhood terms. You are not alone: some countries seem ‘stuck’ in a particular phase, but they will eventually change. It takes time and patience.

And Vance is a grown-up delinquent, whom I'd rather call Shady Vance (look Mom, it rhymes with JD!), eye shadow and all. What a sinister person. You just know, looking at him, that he's full of rage, upset, annoyance - the kind of person you just don't want to see, hear, or have in your life in any way, and once Fat Boy passes from the scene - after all, he's obscenely fat, out of shape, and full of bile, also quite old - Vance will become President. “My other college friend sent me this article and I hope the guy is wrong.

On April 20th, 2025, the United States will Cross the Point of No Return.

It sounds wild. Maybe even crazy. But every step is already in motion. I’d be happy to be wrong. But if this is correct… you’ll be ready.

On April 20, 2025, the United States may initiate its final steps into authoritarian rule.

That’s the day Donald Trump’s advisory committee is expected to release its findings on whether he should invoke the Insurrection Act — a move that would allow him to deploy the military domestically and allow Trump to impose martial law. (San Francisco Chronicle). Given Hegseth is the main “advisor”, the conclusion is foregone.

And as his two months in office has already shown, he won’t stop at just a legal opinion.

Expect an executive order that same day or the next, officially declaring the Insurrection Act, restricting freedoms in the name of restoring control of the border and in blue-state cities, and setting the larger plan in motion.

Of course, this won’t be framed as an attack on democracy. It will be packaged as a necessary response to crisis — as authoritarian takeovers always are.

But once it happens, there’s no going back.

This will be the point of no return.

This Is How Democracy Ends: Here’s their Playbook

It won’t all happen in one night.”
