Unfortunate the ranchers who probably helped put the felon back in the WH are only bothered when his policies affect them. Never mind the harm he’s doing every day to everyone else. FAFO.

Unrelated question. If all the companies that are ponying up millions for Dump’s ballroom can afford that, why can’t they just pay their fair share of taxes? Dump’s cons and influence peddling are brazen and grotesque. Will the MAGAts ever reach a limit?

Linda's avatar

Trump wants to build the ballroom and the arch to be monuments to himself. We need to plan on the future expense we will have of tearing them down, because that is what is done to dictator's monuments. We also need to take down the tacky gold that is all over the oval office and everywhere else it has infected our peoples' buildings.. While we are at it, we will need to tear up the lifeless concrete patio and replant the roses.

Ms D's avatar

…and sue trump (down to his last dime) for every dime it will cost to rebuild!!!!! Send him home penniless!!!!

Sandra Wallace's avatar

It's SO simple.

DON'T BUY ARGENTINE BEEF!

Where's the beef? In the good 'ole USA.

M Ja's avatar

Actually Fresh Market sells it. I don't know of others because I haven't been able to get around to check. But, nonetheless, boycott any place that sells it. There's ads for a black out 11/25-12/2 where people are asked to not do any shopping. Plan ahead and get your needed items ahead of time. Let's see if we can make an impact like we did with the protest marches.

M Ja's avatar

There is an actual blackout planned for 11/25-12/2.

Linda Neary's avatar

I chuckled when I read this, as it is exactly what I might have said and how I would have said it. And my name is Linda.

M Ja's avatar

There is so much damage already that it would probably have to be razed down and create a new building void of garish iconography.

Nancy L. Hoffmann's avatar

So true! No limit will ever be reached until we jail the major perps!

Teri Gelini's avatar

All of them need to be in jail for the destruction they have caused this country...

Robin's avatar

Taxes go to the Treasury, and are not individually SEEN by the POTUS.

Flashiness goes hand in hand with Grift.

This list of people/companies "BUYING" the East Wing.... want something back, for themselves. That takes flash, being seen and greasing the palm directly.

An essential difference between gift and GRIFT... the recognition of the latter.

The quid and the pro and the quo

meaning "this for that" or "something for something,"

Taxes as we used to know them, were for the betterment of the country (national, regional, local)... but more than 1 person/entity receiving the betterment.

So, what line item do these bribes / contributions go under in their annual statements to their shareholders?

Katherine Patrick's avatar

Charitable donations, naturally.

Romell Reed's avatar

taxpayer money is already going to cheeto somehow. when fema money is denied to blue states where does it go? When billions are taken from NYC and other blue states on-going projects where does it go? When Argentina is given $40 billion dollars where did it come from? When the DOJ gives cheeto $230 million dollars where will it come from? (All taxpayer money).

Sandra Wallace's avatar

Didn't he an Elon go visit the treasury's gold at Fort Knox?

Robin's avatar

and how many bars of gold went missing ????

cnlights2's avatar

For maggots there is no limit. But dam good question re the tax part!

Carl Selfe's avatar

Robert Reich intuitively limits key points to 6. He does this by intuition because he thinks more points in a list is too confusing, and his goal is teaching. You can’t teach if the students cannot follow. Today he wrote naturally with 6 points:

• For affordable groceries, housing, and childcare.

• For higher wages and better working conditions.

• For paid family leave.

• For busting up monopolies that keep prices high.

• For making it easier to form and join labor unions.

• Pay for this by raising taxes on the wealthy.

I agree, and began on a platform last January. No 10-point plans here. Simply, 6 major thrusts will contain everything. (More than 6 and people cannot follow it. Did I mention that?) A beginning of that mind mapping with 6 thrusts is here:

They can but why would they when doing so would not provide the favours and influence they have from bribing Donald Trump?

cnlights2's avatar

Maybe but you know how it always ends with trump. Your fired, your not 'friends' unless he wants your money or humiliated. Gotta be sucker to be associated with him.

roger hawcroft's avatar

No, one simply has to be misguided, see gain or advantage, (whether temporary or permanent), be gullible and manipulated or be sufficiently well-placed either to have leverage of one's own or not have to worry about what he might do.

Sylvia Arrowood's avatar

I understand Hegseth and Trump are aiming for no elections and making America a military state. My question is will the military arm themselves against their fellow Americans? And second question Trump is not going to live much longer, then everything is going to fall apart. Trump is the only reason they have any kind of support and once he is gone, Vance and Hegseth are ridiculed and hated, Mikey boy is ridiculed and hated. Cracks are beginning to show and it will all fall apart.

Robin's avatar

?? really ", then everything is going to fall apart. "

PLEASE Look harder

dt's grooming of his base (Jan 6, etc) & administration is blatant.

Vance is chomping at the bit to echo dt everytime he is given a global platform.

The BIG, DARK $$$$$$$ is bigger than dt. He sure as h#ll is tapping into it... but the same dark side exists with the S. Court.

The BIG $$$$ is in it for themselves...

using dt & the administration [buying them] to set themSELVES up for a good long time after dt kicks the bucket.

DEMs cannot rest on the grave of dt...

There is root damage to the USA... only NON-Supreme courts are holding the USA together at this time.

The DOJ was anti-Constitution under Biden... how we got to where we are today

Republican Congress has been anti-Constitution for years... disregarding definition of insurrectionist, and physically WALKING AWAY from power of the purse that could have stopped the tariffs

And don't forget that all the beef processing plants' employees are immigrants. So not only is the beef not getting TO the processing plants, there are no workers IN the plants.

Someone needs to revamp the old burger commercial "Where's the beef?"

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Gavin Newsom’s new ad features Clara Peller’s basso profundo “Where’s the beef?” The original Wendy’s ad handsomely feathered her nest in retirement. She paid for everyone’s burgers!🍔

Marci Radin's avatar

I had no idea about Newsom's ad 😁 Glad to hear it!

Jean Conley's avatar

Nancy L. Hoffmann's avatar

Mike Tonge's avatar

I have noticed that many of the large 'Farmers for Trump' banners around here have been taken down.

Richard A Dickman's avatar

Mike, Where is 'here'? In the northwestern part of Virginia, there are still a bunch of drumph signs, but blue ones have begun to crop up.

Mike Tonge's avatar

Shasta Valley, Northern California. Cattle country.

Dean's avatar

My No Kings banner is now stretched between 2 shepherds hooks in my front yard after the Anoka, MN rally. I take it in at night so nobody steals it like they did with my Harris sign.

Mike Tonge's avatar

Your Harris Walz sign was stolen maliciously? That's terrible. My Obama for President 2012 bumper sticker was scratched through in the Walmart parking lot. There seems to be a difference in ethics and civility between Democrats and Republicans :-/ As ridiculous as those giant 'Farmers for Trump' banners seem to me, I would never stoop to tearing one down.

Leslie Olsen's avatar

Isn't Anoka the Halloween capital of the world? Happy Halloween!

Nancy L. Hoffmann's avatar

Oh my. What a surprise.

Kat Pan's avatar

So, let me get this straight. Trump thinks importing Argentinian beef will lower American beef prices by undercutting our beef producers? Won't that cause a lot of smaller and mid-sized beef producers to go bankrupt or be forced to sell their farm? Wouldn't that make it easier for the big corporate farms to buy those smaller family farms making the farm agri monopolies larger?

Michele Ward's avatar

I'm sure big ag is greasing a lot of palms for this, knowing they'll be able to buy up a lot of land for cheap.

Nancy Richardson's avatar

Well done, Michael. You said it perfectly.

Ellen Franzen's avatar

Based on what I heard on another substack this morning, it sounds like perhaps Senator Marshall was taking those flights to Epstein Island.

… Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) on MSNBC: Q - Are you comfortable with Trump’s bailout of Argentina? Marshall: The president here is playing chess and not checkers. This is an opportunity to make a friend, to help an ally out.”

Apparently the Epstein thing is/was a worldwide operation and involved many many people.

kathryn christman's avatar

The Dems could do themselves a huge favor and get the message out to the farmers and ranchers that they will help them! This would affect entire rural communities and finally get them to vote to save themselves!

Robert Hanson's avatar

Still trying to comprehend how they can worship a pedophile. Release the files.

JA's avatar

Guess Trump thinks he knows everything there is to know about beef? Sure, there used to be a brand with his name affixed but it went BANKRUPT!

Trump is a bankrupt soul?

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Trump Steaks retailed for just two months at the Sharper Image.

Nancy L. Hoffmann's avatar

He sure is a bankrupt businessman!

Linda's avatar

Bringing Argentine beef to the U.S. is likely to bring the screw fly with it. That would be the worst thing to do to our country, besides the damage to our beef industry. What were those lies he said about building up American manufacturing, agriculture, and production?

Becky Schneider's avatar

Mostly BS. He probably already forgot that's what he said.

Jean Conley's avatar

That's really frightening. I hadn't thought of that one. ):

Bluesmurf's avatar

The fact of the matter is that it doesn't matter. The farmers and the ranchers have always thought democrats were stupid and evil communists and MAGAs do not want to do anything for anyone that doesn't turn a profit. I grew up with and have been related to these people all my life and even the women who decided to become teachers and teacher's aides do not see the value of anything other than being an "R" and now a MAGA. So, he'll screw them all over, they will love every minute of it while complaining long and loud every second, and then they will turn around and vote the MAGAs in to every open office they can. Here is a post from one of the right wingnuts about who we all are - and nothing is going to change their attitude, mind, or votes. I got this off Facebook and I'll leave the poster anonymous.

"Two types of people will participate in today's "protests" across the country....the clueless and the communists. The communists will be recruiting the clueless, lying as to the reasons for the protests. You can tell the difference. The communists will have commercially printed signs, new Mexican flags, gas masks, and a ready supply of weapons to use against law enforcement. No matter what happens the agenda based media will describe the "protests" as peaceful...even in those places where assaults on officers, vandalism, looting and arsons occur. Surely we must believe the media in spite of what the videos of anarchy show. Reality is not what we see but what the commies say. After all there is little if any honesty in times of war....and we are at war."

The person who wrote this and the people who repost it are the clueless ones with their heads perfectly seated up their ass. Some of them I knew personally growing up and thought they were intelligent people... wow, was I ever wrong! Regardless of the prices, the economy, or anything else, these people that live and write this kind of disinformation crap will always vote "R"!

Elena McAllister's avatar

Unfortunately he told them at one of his many rallies that after this election he wouldn’t need their vote. Red flag anyone? He expects loyalty but he isn’t loyal to anyone but himself.

Doreen Parker's avatar

I hope our stores label their beef correctly so I can pass on it! Absolutely disgraceful chump.

Michele Pfannenstiel DVM's avatar

We do not have country of origin labeling laws that will tell you.

They will import cheap beef as primals.. and then cut them and grind the trim and label it as American cause the final processing happens here.

That law is thanks to National Cattlemen. Don't think for one minute they give a rats ass about cattle farmers. They care about the Big 4. That is it

Doreen Parker's avatar

Ouch, I think you are 100% correct, I don't think I have ever seen a country of origin on any meat products. I was thinking of "Avocados from Mexico" and grapes. We are doomed.

We watch a lot if old Western series, aka, the Virginian, where cattle gets infected with Anthrax, Hoof and Mouth, where the whole herd gets destroyed. Will this happen from Argentina?

M Ja's avatar

Sometimes you can see country of origin in the small print on the back but it certainly isn't prominent so you have to search. Most tuna products have it on their cans by the ingredients section where it specifies the sodium levels, whether the tuna is in oil or water. We have to be more vigilant of what we're consuming and demanding our regulatory agencies have information like that included on all of the labels

M Ja's avatar

It IS happening- their herds are infected but I don't know how widespread it is. BUT we also don't know how loose their standards are in inspection and packaging their beef. With so many people who lost these important jobs in America, you're taking a huge risk.

Sandra Wallace's avatar

Oh, NO! In that case, I revise both of my prior posts.

N.O. to beef on the table, until we get our country back.

Besides, plant butter tastes just as good as cow butter and is reportedly more healthy.

Giving up cheese will be hard for me, since I haven't found a good tasting plant based cheese. I don't care for the flavor of goat cheese. Any suggestions? Please advise, as that may be my breaking point. Sigh.

M Ja's avatar

You can modify goat cheese with some of the seasonings found at Trader Joe's and elsewhere. Alternately, try ones that are already naturally flavored with honey or persimmon.or other fruit to acclimate your taste buds. It's one of those things that grow on you with more exposure.

Suggestions: Everything Bagel Seasoning, Green Goddess Seasoning (not dressing).

Have you considered buffalo? (similar products to cattle). Ostrich also has some of the lowest fat meats available, if you're brave enough to try.. I think that if you did a blind taste test of all 3 products made up as a hamburger with the usual dressings, you'd be hard pressed to distinguish much difference between them except that one would be less greasy.

Steve's avatar

I was thinking the same. I need to learn some pork recipes.

Doreen Parker's avatar

Good idea Steve! I recently "discovered" mild Italian ground sausage and have been using 1/2 lb in my Italian dishes, no beef! There is something extra special there in flavor.

Sandra Wallace's avatar

I said earlier, Don't buy Argentinian beef.

If the U.S. cattle rancher bros are MAGA ag industrialists, or even local beef producers are MAGA, then I revise my suggestion.

Turkey burgers, pork chops, chicken nuggets, fish filets, crab cakes, tuna steaks, shrimp cocktails are on my eat at home or take out menu! Plant protein? Even better!!!
