Trump lies so frequently the presumption is that any given thing he says is a lie, shifting the burden of proof onto him.
Trump breaks the law so frequently that any given order of his is likely an illegal one. Trump, like any experienced mob boss knows to rarely give an explicit order, but you know it was his order when he does not countermand it. Trump likes to work through others, make vague statements and DENY any and all responsibility (while claiming credit for everything he thinks is good).
So yes, in regards to orders originating from Trump or Musk in this administration, the best policy is to ignore them "until you have obtained advice of counsel".

Everyone will cave. I fear he will push us into a Civil War. So many MAGA are dying to kill liberals. I fear even if a huge revolution started he will tell his loyalists in the military to shoot us. The lawyers can tell us all day, and for the weeks to come, about the court decisions against the coup (that are mostly being ignored) but they have yet to report about a decision that's been enforced. And which law enforcement agency is left to enforce court decisions?
And, of course, we have true patriots in the military who'll refuse illegal orders, but we also have a large number of MAGAts (2 that we're all very aware of who are in charge of the military) that will be only too happy to do as they're told. The coup won't need support from all of our active military folks.

Faith, Hope and Perseverance have gotten me through many dark times in my life, but I agree, it is not easy. We can not do more than we can do. We can not change others, only ourselves. Anxiety is the result of trying to change reality with insufficient leverage.
So it is OK to let go of an image too far removed from current reality, but that does not mean we have to give up opposition. Look at it as just being true to yourself, your own nature and your own values. Most people are fools and / or idiots, otherwise Trump would not have been elected the first time, let alone this second time. Too many people can not handle the idea of a woman in charge, especially not a minority woman. Too many people refuse to actually study, do the work of thinking and reasoning, of examining any facts. Too many people focus ONLY on their own comfort, security, needs.
The good news is Trump is both desperately afraid of jail, and so he focuses his efforts on Attacking his opponents and seeking comfort from Putin, his mentor. Trump is letting Musk manage domestic policy aside from Immigrants, which he has given to Stephen Miller and Homan. Hegseth is dutifully transforming the military into Trump's personal security force.
The net result will be chaos and dysfunction so deep and broad that even the MAGA loyalists will feel it, no to mention all those voters who are NOT filled with hate.
So, just wait for it, let Trump drive the people into our arms. He is good at that.

You are not wrong. I myself have been saying it will have to get worse before it 'can' get better. No assurance it will get better, just that it will get worse.
It is like a drunk, unable to accept help to get better until they "Hit rock bottom". Sadly many Drunks never do get better, many die from their addiction. But just as many a friend or family member of a drunk has done, you wait until they are ready to hear you, until they realize they need help and are willing to accept it, then you offer it again and help them get the help they need.
Right now, many are suffering from regret, but it is hard for most people to admit they made a big fat stupid mistake. So they rationalize, they ignore, they avoid thinking about it, just as they avoided thinking before they made their mistake. Politicians will not act until they are more afraid of the voters against Trump than they are afraid of the voters for Trump. They are watching. They have seen countless times already when Trump would just do something worse, then something worse, each time distracting from the prior bad things until people get confused, distracted and wander off. But pain the people feel will provide a focus, a constant reminder and this might just give them enough motivation to say 'Enough'. I am not holding my breath, but my hope is that it will get worse, and I am given hope by the actions of this administration that it will.
I only HOPE that Democrats focus on the suffering, telling stories and showing pictures until it triggers people's compassion and horror, giving people a focus of where to vent their anger at the pain.

We should all have a silent internal dialect that is instilled so deeply that people don’t need to be told that they need to be educated and informed. We should all have enough brain cells to tell us that we have an obligation to do our homework and to know what is going on in this Country and this government. These GQP congressmen need to be put on blast that we don’t work for them and that they work for us and if they are not (and they definitely are not) then we the people will fire them in every single local state and federal elections. I was at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival where this doc was premiered. I watched it then and will watch it again!
But also I was raised in a cult-like religion, where as a young adult I worked in their bookstore. They sold the Dyanetics novels, under the science fiction section. I was very much into sci-fi at the time and skimmed through one of the Dianetics novels and found it uninteresting and never read it. Eventually the bookstore pulled these novels because they realized they were a competing cult. lol.
Prior to this, some five or six years earlier, and some 50 years ago while a young teen, my parents took me to a Freeman Institute presentation. There I was given a workbook to fill out, meant to teach the overreach of the federal govt and how state’s rights have been removed by said govt. This was the work of Cleon Skousen.
You can look him up but he is foundational to the current anti-federal movement and source of communist central fear mongering in congress.
But anyway I’m pretty good at recognizing cults, brainwashing, the loss of free thought, etc. I still am surrounded by “True Believers”. (Allusion to: “Thought Contagion”.) The constant surround of cults and weird movements, then as fringes, and now amplified in online environs.
I recognized the already religious cult members around me, are easily transitioned into the MAGA cult. It is to me, “of course they are”.
I could be on board with MAGA influenced by Scientology but I have a sense that there is more of a gathering of various cult-ideals and methods and consolidating them into political control. It has a sense of psy-ops about it as well.
And I think we need to start putting this out into the conversations into our approach. Let's at the very least get people to start talking about them as they TRULY are! No more left or right, woke or not, gay or straight, black or white. It needs to be the out of touch rich against the poor and ignorant. Cult against regular everyday Americans. Enjoy your walk back to your place of screens and devices, do what you do, but return the next day to you special, quiet place and do it again. I have done this and the answer that came is an answer that every single American would most likely readily agree with. The answer that emerged for me offers a coarse test of anything and everything that comes at me from over the horizon each and every day. We are in the midst of an administrative coup. Steps are being taken through the courts to contain it. A normal response. The problem is that the situation is anything but normal. So far, the Trump administration has given no sign, made no gesture, that it has any intention or desire to abide by or respect any of the laws or traditions that have applied in this country since it's inception. With last week's purge of the Pentagon leadership, the firing of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, U.S. Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. and, more importantly, the dismissal of the top JAG officers whose job it is to see that the orders given to the military conform to the principles of the Constitution and the rule of law, one can only wonder if Trump and his acolytes are not getting all their ducks in a row to take his administrative coup one step further.
Florida is holding special elections for two open House of Rep seats at the end of March, and New York has yet another special election for an open seat there too. If those go blue the GOP would loose the house, and speaker Johnson would be in the back row once again. Help any way you can to turn these blue.
