Recap of Today in Politics, 10/29/24

One week to go.

… Puerto Rico’s largest newspaper, El Nuevo Dia, endorsed Kamala Harris today. The paper said, “The hearts of all of us who love this beautiful Garden of America, and of the world, clench with rage and pain” after what they saw at the last Trump rally. They noted that Trump has not apologized or disavowed what went down.

… While the Trump campaign attempts to play off the debacle at MSG publicly, they are panicking as evidenced by the fact that they just added a bunch of new Puerto Rican-American speakers to his rally in PA today.

… Today is the day that former GA election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss take possession of Rudy Giuliani’s personal property, car, and NYC apartment. The judge said they could rent a truck and bring it to his apartment to collect his items today. Rudy was given the option to deliver them prior to today, but apparently chose not to.

… Trump showed up an hour and 20 minutes late for his “press conference” (he took no questions) at MAL, but once again it was not a “press conference.” His energy was way down and his voice was hoarse as he rambles his way through a rant about migrants.

… Rather than disavow the racist and insane comments from his invited speakers at his MSG rally, Trump called it a “love fest.” Same thing he called J6. So while his campaign is spinning and doing damage control, Trump is doubling down and putting his stamp of approval on what was said.

… He claimed at the conference and on Truth Social that they caught Democrats trying to steal the election in PA. I have seen no credible reports anywhere that Democrats have been caught doing anything. But here we go again.

… Trump also said that Kamala Harris “stole the presidency of the United States” in a coup after his debate.

… He said that the reason why all the economic indicators have been up for the past two years and the stock market continues to break records is because it all “fake.” He says none of the numbers are real and it is all fake news because we are really a failing 3rd world country.

… After Fox aired his comments live today, which included a rant about the 2020 election being stolen, then broke away and made a statement that it was not stolen. They had $787 million reasons to do it.

… The family of Oathkeepers founder Stewart Rhodes, who is currently serving 28 years in prison for his role in organizing J6, said they are terrified about Trump’s pledge to pardon J6ers if he wins. His ex-wife says that she thinks Rhodes will kill her because she cooperated with the FBI in their investigation of him.

… Raggae legend Don Omar endorsed Harris today, saying that after he heard “such racist and disdainful words directed at my home (Puerto Rico) and at Latinos is heartbreaking. Trump has shown us time and time again what he thinks of us.”

… Omar went on to talk about Harris in his statement: “I trust she represents the respect and change our communities need and I believe she can pave a new path forward - one that uplifts, empowers and prioritizes dignity for all.”

… Gary Reed, the former Executive Director of the Michigan Republican Party, endorsed Harris today. He said he voted for Nikki Haley in the primary, and listed several reason for his endorsement. He said Trump will abandon allies overseas, demonizes migrants, makes false promises, and praises dictators.

… Nikki Haley said the last time she spoke to Trump was in June and she has reached to his campaign to let them know she is available but hasn’t gotten a call back. Sad!

… She aired her list of grievances tonight on Fox, griping that Trump allies like Musk are alienating women voters, that their messaging is all toxic masculinity, their MSG rally was racist, etc. She actually thinks that the Trump campaign cares what she thinks. She really missed a golden opportunity to be the normie successor to Trump at the end of the primary, but she went all in with the cult instead. But the cult doesn’t want her. What a dumb decision.

… David DePape, the man who attempted to murder Paul Pelosi with a hammer, was sentenced today to life in prison.

… 50 Cent said he was offered $3 million to perform at Trump’s MSG rally but turned it down.

… Kamala Harris has requested a permit for 40,000 for her rally in DC tonight at the ellipse. Her original request expected 20,000 to attend. Now they think it could be over 50,000. I saw the crowd tonight. It is every bit of 50,000.

… When Joe Biden was asked why he was not attending the Harris rally in DC, he said that he didn’t want to get in her way or become the issue: “It’s for her.”

… Ron Desantis said today that doctors who are advocating for the abortion rights ballot initiative should lose their medical licenses and get sued for malpractice. He also talked about amending Florida’s malpractice laws to allow them to be sued. Trump is an undisciplined disorganized fascist. Ron Desantis is a disciplined and organized fascist, which is far more dangerous.
