Bravo to Colbert for putting his interview with Talarico on YouTube. That's a great way to get around the Weisswascher in Chief at CBS. (Note: Weiss is German for "white" and also used the German word for "washer" to come up with an appropriate term for Bari.)

Christine Anderson's avatar

I was so pleased to find it on you tube🙏🏻💙

Do you think it could have actually been a ploy to get attention to Talarico, away from his ballot opponent, Jasmine Crockett? Is Mr Whitewasher so ignorant of audience marketing dynamics that he couldn’t foresee that Colbert’s interview would draw far more attention if banned? We are so plastic.

I like Talarico…. But I LOVE the fiery, intelligent, always informative Jasmine Crockett‼️If you read anything about her past conquests in fighting for the people you’ll find that she’s far more experienced in maneuvering through the GOP minefields that they’ve buried EVERYWHERE!

He’s a kind and sensible person and he’s a rising star but she brings the Passion and Ammo and vast experience that the Democrats need in the Senate right now‼️‼️‼️

I’m in her court 100%

I’ve said that very same thing, but in Texas, voters are more likely to vote for a white Christian than an intelligent fiery black woman. He’s probably the one to win the seat to get Cornyn out. I’m amazed that Texans will actually vote for corruption and racism over honesty and decency. Hopefully from folks moving here from New York, California and other states will help change things for the better.

Sadly, I believe you are right. Clinton had so much political experience while the Cheeto ran as a joke and he won. Kamala also should have beat him hands down, but she had two strikes against her being female and black.

I like both of them. I hope if one wins, they have the other one on their team. They would be a force to be reckoned with.

Re your remark about being amazed that Texans would vote for corruption and racism, I have the same thoughts about all those Churches who supported him. Some even went as far as saying he's the 2nd coming of Jesus! I don't know of any religion that would back a convicted felon who was known to assault women (before finding out he's also a pedophile).

It is so sad that ruthless autocratic countries are more likely to get a women leader than we are. We are so behind the rest of the world in how misogynist we are as a country.

A ruthless autocrat, no matter their gender, is one too many.

But I don't think you meant it the way my response seems to suggest. We have a huge mess to clean up - ALL hands on deck.

GreatCeasarsGhost's avatar

Why are any of us surprised re the corruption & self-dealing found in mega-churches, prosperity preachers, spinning the word of Jesus to reflect Jeez$$$ us$$$

Texas was aligned with the Confederacy & many there still view the north of the country as "Yankees". They view themselves as a "republic" with the freedom to secede if/when they desire. The Texas swag is insecurity hiding behind big white hats & big, shiny belt buckles.

Our path forward is not straight ahead and all the time,

but it IS NEVER backward. Flexibility makes for the best way to

build momentum, and when balanced with muscle and power,

that is when the real dynamic kicks in. One move at a time.

Elvis sang 'Blue Christmas,' and I imagine lyrics for 'Blue Texas'

might fit nicely.

I am a former Texan, and I agree with everyone here who seems to understand that it's about the white, very Christian male versus an intelligent, tough black female. That's the mindset in Texas. I don't think she has a chance against him, but she IS better suited to deal with the republicans in Congress.

jon norstog's avatar

I disagree. I think Jasmine is an exception to the rule about Texas and female candidates. She is tough and smart and delivers the goods every time. She's like Ann Richards or Molly Ivins, both of whom thrived in the Texas political/social environment. Well, if Talarico wins the primary I will probably send some $ his way, BUT I think Jasmine is the more likely-to-win candidate.

Michele Ward's avatar

I hope you're correct and she takes Cornyn's seat.

jon norstog's avatar

Ikeep my fing3ers crossed. What I want and what I'm'a get may be two different things

Linda Weide's avatar

I 100% agreed. However I don't vote in Texas. This gerrymandering in Texas needs to be fixed by a Supreme Court that is not a farce. We need to take back the Congress and impeach the criminals among them. There should be room for both of them to have a seat at the table. Texas needs them both.

Laurie Fendrich's avatar

I love her. Alas, if she wins the primary she will run a great campaign and lose the election to whatever slob the Republicans put up to run against her. Although there's a Texas backlash to Trump and his cronies, the bitter truth is that Texas isn't ready to vote for her.

GreatCeasarsGhost's avatar

With his ~innate skills & extensive knowledge of the bible, he has taken to task (in a polite yet direct manner) the many frauds in the TX House & beyond.

He has detailed their hypocrisy and incorrect interpretation or actual reading of Scripture.

I wish that he would recognize "THIS" as his true calling, a 21st century version of prior TRUE Christians who preached in decades' past to foster social justice, from MLK to Fr Oscar Romero to Pres Obama...

HE could be / should be .. the counter to the false narratives promoted by Holy (Neck) Kirk (sorry- no empathy, per his own demand to dismiss such feelings as 'New Age' & destructive). White 'evangelicals' remain dedicated to trump: 58% - 69% depending on the poll.

EaB's avatar

I agree with Talarico being more of a purveyor of the truth and morality like MLK was!

His knowledge would be best suited to be that kind of spokesperson since the void left after MLK’s assasination.

There are some wonderful moral preachers like Reverend William Barber and even Pope Leo but Talarico has the ear of many thirsting for decency after this past week’s Colbert debacle.

Rep Crockett has the Fire and Passion and Energy that we need in Congress right now🔥

Evolution's Child's avatar

I had to consider that... I chose Jazmine. Also... this "secret ballot" thing is part of the problem. Who you vote for should not be protected from public while easily accessible to so called "leaders".

Yes. Bravo to Colbert.

Another word for washer as in a person is "reiniger." Still using waschen, given that Bari is female you would say she is the Chief Weißwascherin at CBS.

I wrote this piece about understanding the twisting of language by this regime and our need to stand up for clear language use as well.

appreciate being able to still hear what you have to say, so thank you 🙏

Kevin McConnell's avatar

Not homeless, but I would if I had paid subscriptions to all the voices I follow and appreciate. I could afford a couple without starving or losing a utility, but which one or two do I choose?

So instead I’m just thankful that I can get the information I desire for free.

Oh yeah, not to complain, but do you really need :20 to disseminate the information you do?

There are more than a few outlets that do a really a good job with information in much less time.

I know that some people require the extra time to understand, but I don’t, so generally pass on much of :20 posts;(;( so I don’t miss what the other voices cover, nobody or “station” can cover it all!

Ben, you need to talk about the children in Dilly detention daily! This is a huge issue!!

Bonnie Sue Miller's avatar

Spot on! This is something that bothered me the last two days. Can't get it out of my mind. It's completely unacceptable, and it shows the incessant disregard for human life and dignity. Cruelty is the name of the game! It's starting to look just like the Palestinian Genocide perpetrated by Israel and led by Netanyahu. Texas is a shithole state with a leader like Greg Abbott who is running for a FOURTH term. He's a despicable person!

Sue Stjohn's avatar

If you listen to the Sascha Reily interview, you'll learn just how callous and cold the Trump pedo regime is.

hanet's avatar

And how a lot of Texas counties are being forced, by a racist, regressive TX senate bill, to coordinate with ICE under the 287g program. This is devastating for our immigrant populations and cedes local sheriff power to the feds. It's turning us to police state quickly. Horrific! Every citizen should contact their local sheriff and make sure they don't participate in 287g program, and if they do make them rescind their agreements!

Erin Granberg's avatar

Yes, EVERYTHING about these detention centers is pure evil

Michele Ward's avatar

These children will be scarred for life from this trauma, if they survive it. How many were separated from their parents in the last trump regime and still have not reconnected? The thought of warehouses holding thousands of detained immigrants is a nightmare. The for-profit prisons need to be banned in this country.

Erin Granberg's avatar

If ice agents are willing to kill people in the streets what are they doing behind those walls of those concentration camps?

The 'presumptions' of a civil & law-abiding US govt as given are now dead- shot in the head & the back, just like Ms Good & Mr Pretti (RIP).

Leon Black (Epstein Files- paid MILLIONS to VI govt to make his involvement 'go away'), via Apollo Investments, acquired Blackwater - home of war criminals. Trump pardoned 4 of them in 2020. Blackwater offered trump 10,000 MERCENARIES for $26 BILLION (2/2025).

No wonder they're all wearing masks! MERCENARIES from all over the world! Wagner Group (Russia)??? I wouldn't be surprised.

Newsmax is trying to spin it much differently telling their moronic worshippers that they were only following FCC requirements since they already gave coverage of another democrat (Crocket) on the show. This is bullshit and shows just how scared they are to put a real Christian on their lineup. The veil is coming off white Christian nationalism and showing the public they are nothing more than skinheads.

Sue Stjohn's avatar

It's all in Project 2025...

Pamela Torpey's avatar

I don't think casual voters even bothered to read Project 2025 and the GOP knows their MAGA base is too lazy and stupid to have done so. The only people they are owning are their supporters.

Colbert's "non-interview" of Talarico was an enormous and great moment in the history of the destruction of the once great CBS, which is doomed to slide into a right-wing sewer. CBS is dead to me, and to millions of others. Gone. Buried. In the ground.

One of the most satisfying things about it was that despite the corporation banning it, he went ahead and interviewed Talarico and posted it on YouTube. After that it ended up on social media platforms all over the place--which is to say, Bari Weiss and her crew of sniveling right-wingers managed to amplify Colbert's voice to the point where millions more saw it than would have seen it had it been on CBS.

I want to see Meidas Touch grow to the point where CBS looks over at it in envy. Go Ben! These are terrible times and you are a news hero. I'll add that anything you can do to bring to attention to the many resistance opportunities that are spread over the country is welcome.

L B Rose's avatar

The whole incident raised Colbert's voice (like the amplification of Jimmy Kimmel's show when it was banned) higher than ever. And I'll bet that Talarico's election fund is now overflowing. Thanks CBS for spectacularly boosting these heroes more than if you fools had just let the interview go as planned.

MeidasTouchNetwork is making a difference to Americans who realize that the Trump Regime is destroying the United States that we grew up in. Americans used to depend on the Level Headed people in the Federal Government to have the best interests of all Americans at the forefront of all Legislation that they passed. We the People can no longer depend on this happening. The American people need to become more involved and the best sources will be the Independent Journalists who are not afraid to tell the truth.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has requested personal information of online users who have been critical of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to the New York Times.

The Times reported that names, email addresses, telephone numbers and other identifying data behind social media accounts that track or criticize ICE have been requested as part of “hundreds of administrative subpoenas” issued by the federal agency in recent months, based on information provided by four government officials and tech employees. Reports have been corroborated by said companies.

I had a good laugh when I saw the views of Colbert's interview on the various sources. Far outnumbered what he would have gotten otherwise. Talarico is a hero and we have many more like him, thank goodness.

In regards to the SAFE act that was passed in Congress, it is now stalled in the Senate where (from a good source) it will be voted down. I am not going to run anywhere to get proper identification. I have my passport and have applied for my Nexus - now I'm not sure if I will get it. I am an election official for the Democrats in Buffalo, New York and I will be questioning everything. There are pockets of protesters here every week in Buffalo and I love the people in NYC. The billionaires can throw their useless money at whatever they want but it is the energy and determination and honesty of the People that will win. We the People can boycott these billionaires. Without us their products will fail. We can search for companies that do not bow to Trump and buy from them.
