On today’s Uncovered we led off the show talking about the latest in the Ukraine negotiations today in London, the terms of Trump’s “peace plan”, and how we are rapidly heading towards negotiations falling apart because of Russia’s intransigence. But of course Trump will blame Zelensky. The bottom line is that Trump seeks to align the US with Russia and lift sanctions, and needs an excuse to justify doing that.
We also talked about the latest Hegseth scandals, including the new Signal story, his public comments, his new makeup and hair room installed in the Pentagon at taxpayer expense for his many Fox interviews, and his likely future in the Trump Admin.
Speaking of future in the Trump Admin, we talked about Musk’s forced imminent departure from the WH, his escalating feud with Treasury Secretary Bessent that resulted in a screaming match this week, and how Tesla has suffered what some analysts are calling “permanent brand damage” because of his right-wing politics.
We talked about Trump signaling an imminent surrender on the China tariffs after he got a visit from the CEOs of Wal Mart, Target and other major retailers. The problem for him is that he doesn’t ever want to be perceived as surrendering and China won’t give him any outs to allow him to somehow declare victory.
I talked about which country I believe will be the one to make the first trade deal with Trump, but how it will simply be a face-saving exercise.
I also talked about how Sen. Chris Van Hollen made the argument I have been waiting for Democrats to make on deportations in his brilliant interview with Fox, and how Dems can not only own the moral high ground but also win this on the politics if they continue to push his messaging on it.
We also talked about how RFK Jr. is putting his many conspiracy theories into practice at HHS this week.
I also commented on Tim Pool’s appearance in the “new media chair” with Karoline Leavitt in the WH briefing room, and why I actually believe the concept is a good one of a rotating seat for independent media - but of course in practice the Trump Admin has make it a complete joke.
