Given what the WSJ just published, Mikey better get his MAGA pals to Congress. They are never going to survive the obvious cover-up. Donald KNEW 2 MONTHS ago that his name is all over the "Epstein Files."

He knew 10 years ago! He's such a disgrace. How are we going to explain to our grandchildren? Oh, we had a cult who's only goal was to destroy America, and we (I'm loath to write WE) decided to elect the man who created the cult, solely to dispense cruelty, hatefulness, and best of all kids, his goal was to return us to the 17th century!

I hope maga pays for what they've unleashed.

Remember the movie WAG the DOG? This is exactly what Trump and his minions are doing.

In movie President ??? was caught in an affair before election, so his top aides decide to 'fake a war' create a fake war, to take everyone news item off the affair. Sound familiar.

Trump is throwing too much bull shit, he is over doing it. It was Obama and Comey and Biden that wrote the Epstein files. Made no sense. He was Obama that tried a coup and pushed false news to interfere in 2016 and 2020 election re Russia. (again this is false and congress has said so). on and on and on and on. Trump is tossing so much shit and I love his ding a ling press secretary - like in the show CHICAGO when Roxie Hart sits on lawyers lap and says what Flynn/ Gere tells her to. A dummy. "reached for the gun" OMG. never have we had a MAGAT press secretary. She vomits BIDEN caused all the problems and the great Trump is fixing it.

Reminds me of Dorothy and the Lion, scarecrow and tin man are in OZ.

The great and powerful OZ commands you.....(and later - ignore that little man behind the curtain. The great and powerful OZ. tells Leavitt and she is his puppet. OMG it is sick.

Ok that's enough for now. Just some thoughts knowing how Trump responds to truth.

Deny deny deny then accuse accuse accuse and then throw out all the bull shit you can to confuse the people. Always holding the strings and control of your minions (GOP congressmen to do your bidding)

Exactly right. I've watched Kevin Costner & Gene Hackman's No Way Out multiple times. So akin to what we're living right now. Hackman's character had an aide who was so enamored of him that he unalived himself when the big guy abandoned him. Reminds me of Miller.

Agree. What they’re doing is simple—hitching their little red wagons to the entity they believe has the power to create the Robber Baron saga 2.0.

Drump The Dumptruck has an old tired script of using the phraise, “Against our country.” Clearly he thinks of himself as “our country.” He’ll follow the use of the term with a complaint saying “I have been treated so unfairly,” blah, blah, blah. He’s limited in his ability to speak a complete sentence, he flubs reading when a word has more than two or three syllables and he tries to cover up his verbal slips by immediately mentioning the duration of the imaginary assaults (himself and the country). He’s predictable. He’s limited and has no threat of ever being invited to join Mensa.

Listening to him is like listening to the late Leo Gorcey and his infamous malapropisms. Loved Norm Crosby as well. Laughable and enjoyable. 😂

No one seems to have a handle on the specifics of a general strike or talking about it during their podcasts, yet I see several Substack posts which advertise different dates, with the one that I’m hoping will happen starting August 9th. This is crucial, as our country desperately needs to get its act together. I’m a former regional campaign coordinator that sees the inability of other organizations to do this work and have been begging to help. Any suggestions?

I’m with you on this, David. We need to get our collective act together and schedule a massive general strike. I wish 50501 and/or Indivisible would take charge of this and set a day in stone. They’ve both done it with our massive protests; there’s just no reason why it can’t be done. I’m not banking on anything big happening on the 9th.

David W.'s avatar

That’s my sense, also, Teach. I hope you don’t mind me calling you that. I can’t tell you how many times (it’s probably close to a thousand) that I’ve attempted to reach out to organizational staff and leaders as well as politicians all over the country about my concerns and ability to help and hear nothing in return. I took a break from two decades of community service in the early 2000s and jumped back in full force when Obama was elected, only to be disappointed after spearheading a project for 4 years and going broke, then giving it my all again in 2015-16. I’m getting way too old for this crap and wish more people would realize that we can’t find solutions in the system that created the problem, which is essentially what Einstein said.

Anyway, I continue to email my two senators, Wyden & Merkley with a strategy or plan to maintain our independence and hope that I’ll eventually get a response that is more than just a form letter.

This wasn’t at all what being a public servant was like in my day. Other than Bernie, AOC, Jasmine Crockett and a handful of others, I’m tempted to say good riddance. But even they don’t respond to correspondence. Ugh!

I just came from a stirring local presentation about Diane Nash of SNCC and SCLC renown. While I remember quite vividly much of the journey she traveled, I was shocked I did not know her name or have any recollection of her. Over the past two years starting with close attention to the qualifications issue in Colorado and Maine, I have had the same kind of zero response as you to dozens of substantive communications to the President on down to the DNCC and in between. After hearing the Nash saga it occurred to me that I'd been asking myself the wrong question at 89: I should have been considering not not just what the issues were but what am I prepared to sacrifice to help end the nightmare we now live that's been brewing for a good thirty years at least. This began with Reagan, but it has been given fuel by a series of SCOTUS decisions starting with campaign financing, the current fickleness of both House and Senate leadership, tax policies which allowed oligarchs to take root in America, too, and perhaps otherwise relatively normal permutations of politics to develop into the crisis we now face. That question of myself is heavy . . . Jail? Alligator Alcatraz? Exhaust my sons' and granddaughters' inheritance? Risk a roughing up by ICE? Other?

I understand your frustration. I, too, have sent a constant stream of letters to my two Democratic senators. Tammy Duckworth always responds with detailed letters about what she has done and is doing, but like you, I am disappointed that my actual suggestions aren’t acknowledged.

I feel cheated out of what should be a relaxing and enjoyable retirement because of this criminal regime, and I really wish that more of the younger generation would get involved in the fight. We need to do something drastic; anything short of that won’t get us out of this situation.

I couldn’t agree with you guys more and am preparing to storm the beach, as they say. My dad who was a sole survivor of a B25 plane crash in New Guinea during WWII, had a harrowing story after leaving his 7 dead crewmen behind and spending several days in the jungle floating down a river with the threat of headhunters and Japanese soldiers capturing him or worse at every bend. He eventually found his way to the mouth of the tributary and was rescued by his own company, which made such an impression on me as a kid that I attend the funerals of soldiers whenever possible. The patriotism and dedicating myself to this country is baked into my DNA. Therefore, I assume that I’ll end up making the ultimate sacrifice in the hope that future generations can have the life that our ancestors had fought and died for.

It’s not pretty.

I keep coming back to an idea that I came up with in watching these brilliant people who were showing up on Morning Joe as guests as far back as 10 years ago. Why not assemble a round-table discussion where everyone is given the question of what to do when the system has failed and domestic terrorists have wiped out the top professionals within our institutions. I like the Blue Card/Red Card option as a starting point of the conversation but certain that’s not the only way of getting ourselves back on the high road. If you haven’t seen the Blue/Red proposal I’ll attach it this post. It’s pretty creative …
