I too believe this is not complicated. It’s about good vs evil…right vs wrong. Stay strong.

In a way it's not complicated. In another way it's complicated enough that many, many people didn't see it coming from (at least) the beginning of the Reagan administration. And that includes too many Democratic politicians, some of whom still don't get it (like the 10 who voted to censure Rep. Al Green, who does get it). :-(

It’s an erosion of moral values. It’s a fundamental shift in how people think and treat other human beings. Do the right thing. Stand up for good.

So unbelievable that any Democrat would side with the anti-democracy faction on anything. Why would they help the side that is trying to destroy us?

I got a fundraising email from Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (even though she's in WA and I'm in MA). The subject line was "About Tuesday Night" and it included this paragraph: "The way to address these challenges is not by fostering hyperpartisanship or extremism, nor is it by executive action and resulting litigation. What we need now more than ever is good-faith efforts to find common ground, and meaningful bipartisan work by Congress." Is she delusional or what?

Exactly on point. It’s way past time for “bipartisanship “ to deal with the bad faith republicans who won’t compromise even if it benefits their own voters. Their priority is power and radical religious beliefs that threaten our rights under the constitution along with blessing the billionaire mafia bros to deconstruct our government.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

For the life of me I don't understand why any pro-democracy legislator wants to be "bipartisan" with a party that's gone fully anti-democratic. It didn't start with Trump either. For decades now, Republican-run states have been suppressing the vote of anyone they think is likely to vote Democratic, especially people of color and young people, through redistricting as well as the more obvious methods, like culling the voter rolls, closing polling places, and requiring exact signature matching.

Or sharp, repurposed forks. Ha ha Elon; forks aren't just a choice on a path.

When Numpty was "elected" in 2016 I looked up Scottish insults for DJT. One was a "spoon," which refers to a person who can't be trusted with a fork.

I'm WA too.. glad she's not my rep but will call her office nonetheless. This isn't a time for expecting nice to win when the opposition is swinging machetes & firing shots over the bow to gain compliance of the opposing side. None of this is normal & must be treated as such by congress.

I went to his website to express my disappointment in his censure vote and to request an explanation. I have not heard back yet. But I did find a possible explanation in the Sun-Sentinel: "Moskowitz won his two congressional elections by the smallest margins of any House victory in the state". Also. "the [large] influx of [conservative/MAGA] people who moved to South Florida during and after the COVID pandemic". So I'm guessing he's feeling pressure to tack toward center/right before his next campaign.

Oaktown's avatar

Thank you for this comment. I love Jared Moskowitz. He's been a very effective member in calling out red Nazi BS and especially James Comer, the dullest bulb on the porch.

Let's not jump to conclusions about his censure vote; it's far more important he win again in 2026 (in a FL district!). Ron Filipkowski was right in pointing out that Al Green's outburst was planned and his censure a badge of honor that will only help him with his constituents. Not so with Moskowitz. Give him a break; he's always on the right side of political issues and this was a tempest in a teacup.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

That may well explain it, but why can't they tell the difference between the usual center/right, which was more or less pro-democracy, and the current Republican Party, which isn't?

I said those exact words to my step-daughter-in-law a week before the election. Her reply was, "We'll have to agree to disagree." I haven't spoken to her since then. Sometimes I wonder if those words are haunting her now or if she's still in willing denial.

Why aren't our protests making the news? We had over a thousand people at the Minnesota Capitol and crickets on the news.

I am very encouraged though, I attended a meeting with our attorney general, Keith Ellison. When I asked him to join us at a protest at the Capitol he agreed that he would. I was shocked. He said that even though we've had great success with our lawsuits against Trump, he truly believes that it is "We the People" who are going to save our democracy.. He talked about Martin Luther King and gave examples of how other countries saved their democracy by huge protests. It's time to hit the streets people!

I, too, am in awe of the success other countries have had with massive protests. However, I am concerned that the cheap hood is just chomping at the bit for a massive protest where he can signal the MAGAS to provoke violence, and then he will declare martial law.

The mainstream news is compromised and are afraid of retaliation, same reason they won't cover Bernie's speeches even though they have more people in attendance than Numbnuts ever gets these days.

This is why we look to the internet, where we can find trusted sources like MTN, who are independently funded and don't require a broadcasting license in order to function.

Yes, I did some research on where Melania Trump came from Yugoslavia, her parents were part of the communist government that was finally voted out in the 1990's. She came here to be a model, hung out with Epstien and his group of friends, that is how she met Trump. She hasn't done anything for America. She is like her husband Donny, they care only for themselves.
