There is something deeply wrong with people who want to take food and medical care from people who have nothing in order to reduce taxes for people who are already so wealthy all their descendants can be rich forever without having to work.
agree and Elon eliminating our soft power? this is bigger then just disenfranchising our Federal work force! he's backing efforts for our entire country going bankrupt! this includes financially, morally, the educated and strength!! it's true! So glad you and your crew are here Ben!!
The filthy rich feel entitled to have everything and more more more! - while constantly trying to take away everyone else's "entitlements" that we worked for and pay taxes into, the safety nets people who aren't filthy rich depend on.
No offense, but HOW IN THE HELL do you expect someone like Scott Bessent -- or any of the current regime -- to "step into the shoes" of anyone not wearing Ferragamos? These people have no experience with anything that you and I have done toward self-improvement and no interest in gaining any. "Out of touch" doesn't mean he was there once and just needs dial it down a bit; they don't breathe our oxygen. Expect / demand no empathy; it doesn't have any space or reason to exist for them. I'm not writing in anger; from experience.
That's been my experience, too, Erin. Working as a gardener (poor, and hopefully not too stupid), I was privy to an extraordinary amount of "private" conversations because I simply didn't exist. Bessent is the poster child of arrogant entitlement.
"whether he would have supported the bill to preserve health coverage for millions of Americans, he responded simply by saying, “No.”
So....why aren't Hawley et al all over him?
"I want changes," Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, said. "I'm still not satisfied with where we are on Medicaid."
One of the most powerful lobbies in Washington is redoubling its efforts to avoid a cut to Medicaid payments in the GOP’s megabill.
Hospital executives weren’t happy last month when the House included a provision in its version of the bill freezing a loophole states have used to boost payments to hospitals serving the low-income patients enrolled in Medicaid. Hospitals have long enjoyed deference from lawmakers — since they both care for and employ their constituents.
But they were infuriated when Senate Republicans on the Finance Committee released their version of the bill on Monday. Their proposal went even further than the House measure in curtailing the ability of states to impose taxes on providers. States have used those taxes to gain a larger federal Medicaid contribution, which they have then directed back to hospitals with higher reimbursements.
"We actually are seeing a pretty significant uptick in Medicaid popularity," says Kirzinger, who is director of survey methodology for health research organization KFF. According to a poll published Tuesday, 83% of the public have favorable views of Medicaid. Just a few months ago, in January, that figure was 77% of the public.
Support from 3 in 4 Republican voters
"The largest uptick we saw in favorability of the past couple of months was among Republicans," Kirzinger adds. Three in 4 Republicans now say they view Medicaid favorably.
I live in Missouri and do not trust hawley at all. I have no idea what his game plan is except maybe he knows that his vote against gutting medicaid will not stop the bill from passing and trump getting his way but it will make him look good to his constituents. But he doesn't need to look good to his constituents as he won reelection in 2024 basically without even campaigning. Maybe, but I doubt this too, our governor has gotten to him and advised him there is no way Missouri will ever take up the slack is the feds gut Medicaid. This is Missouri where the GOP legislature refused to implement Medicaid expansion after the voters required it (finally the MO SC said they had to follow the will of the voters but our SC has now changed and it allowed the current GOP legislature to void the amendment the voters approved that allowed abortions and reproductive health care for women). I haven't seen Susan Collin's normal comment "Well this is concerning"...has she overcome her hypocrisy to question anything trump tells her to do and then always voting to support him (since there is no telling what he thinks about this bill she will just go with whatever the rest of the GOP tells her to do).
Well said I used to know a FBI trained individual who would tell me",some of the dumbest people I ever knew we're college graduates" just because you have a higher learning document doesn't mean you have the tools to be proficient in society.
It's not "arrogance." The ultra-wealthy don't measure themselves against you. They aren't superior to you; you just don't exist. They could be described as "blithe."
Please know you and your colleagues are doing incredible work. I start my morning with your network every day. One thing I notice is you describe the GOP spending bill as "The Big Beautiful Bill". Legacy media does the same thing. My concern is we are using Trump's description which we are not obliged to do and it only helps him.
We should never use his terminology...it's a spending bill, the GOP budget proposal.. We should come up with our own label something like...
the Big Billionaire Bonanza.
Please think about. I'm sure you can come up with something which is better.
Thanks for your good work and commitment to saving democracy. Know you are respected and appreciated.
When are these people going to realize they are the waste fraud and abuse? Your wheelchair bound father, they want him unalive. He costs money. That money could buy Bezos another rocket.
They realize it! They’ve always known what they are, it’s the maga rubes that need some realization. Will they ever come to it? I doubt it, schmucks that they are.
It's all the magats who vote because they think money equals smarts. They don't look at facts but watch faux propaganda.
I wish we could do something to stop all that faux news. THAT is their kool aid. They drink from the fountain of untruth every day and think we are enemies of the country because we want to keep wheelchair dad on this side of the grass.
The comment about Rep. Sewell's constituents was classic racism, with a dash of sexism. Call that shit out. Every time. It is so gross and creepy. I wish I'd been in the room.
Since senate Republicans see no issue with cutting Medicaid even further than the house proposed, I think incumbent for a Democrat Senator introduce a companion piece of legislation that will require all members of the House and Senate will have their federal supplied health insurance to be replaced with enrollment in Medicaid as soon as the big ugly bill becomes law. Since they are above fraud, they should find it easy to qualify and obtain coverage.
I think the Bible verse is something like - whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, so you do unto me. Mike Johnson is so pious he ought to get it.
What a supercilious, pussilanimous, small, little, twee man. Bessent should be the first one stripped of their Healthcare. Let him cry and plead and beg for service in his hospital gown. While he's sick and blood soaked and in pain. It would only happen once for dear little preening Scott Bessent to change his mind. Grrr.
I agree! And it would have to be him, not a member of his family because everyone in the GOP feels their immediate family members are just as disposable as, well let's say immigrants picking our crops.
Bessent another low life compulsive liar that's part of the scum cabinet that is so proud of himself and his bitch followers that they'll find themselves in a quandary way beyond what they think when they are told by the voters thar voted for the schmuck that they ain't gonna take their lieing b.s anymore once they realize that bessent ,trump and the gang are threatening them in all aspects of life.

It’s also go pay for this gross immigration reality TV show and more money for incompetent Secretary of DOD
Bessent doesn’t get it. He needs to step into the shoes and see what it is to struggle. He has no clue or moral empathy. Shameful and pathetic!

Oh he has a very good clue, that’s what makes him even more despicable.
Rep. Sewell interrupted his answer, saying, “With all due respect, just because you’re poor doesn’t mean you're ignorant.”
She could've added the corollary, for which Bessent is the poster child:
"Just because you're rich doesn't mean you're intelligent. "
Well said I used to know a FBI trained individual who would tell me",some of the dumbest people I ever knew we're college graduates" just because you have a higher learning document doesn't mean you have the tools to be proficient in society.

Wow, right on Bad Bunny 🎯☮️
I was thinking the same thing.
Bessent’s arrogance is smothering. Moron.
What else would we expect from a selfish greedy prick who worships Ayn Rand?
It's not "arrogance." The ultra-wealthy don't measure themselves against you. They aren't superior to you; you just don't exist. They could be described as "blithe."
Bessent is an asshole. He looks like a wax figurine with chiclets for teeth. Or the could be dentures.
He’s despicable. When’s the next protest? In front of his house?
Wouldn’t that be a picture 👍
In EVERY photo, Bessent appears to be chronically constipated.
He's a walking SNL parody. The punch-worthiest of faces.
With his money he can afford Miramar chews.
Ben...

Just like the name "Citizen's United"--yikes!
Molly Jong-Fast calls it the Big Bullshit Bill which I kind of like and have been using
Tammy Duckworth calls it the Big Beautiful Betrayal which I thought appropriate as well.
Very well said! I hope Ben et all will follow your suggestions!

Wow, Meidas. A powerhouse of a post.
Bessent is slick but you've revealed him as the dick he is. Man, Trump has outdone himself with this cabinet: a race to the moral bottom.

Really great idea! Take ALL the representatives healthcare away. Immediately! Just like it is going to happen for the poorest among us.
Lil Mikey is a real POS as he lies thru his teeth. He's no Christian
Bessent is a monied thug, one of many.
He apparently finds himself to be very clever and amusing .
I’m sure we’ll all be amused at his trashing of anyone who is not a millionaire.
I find him revolting in that kind of ‘Trump’s pick’ way.
They are not chosen because they can do the job. Or because they know how to handle people with basic respect and courtesy.
But precisely so they can ‘screw it up’ and destroy it .
What a supercilious, pussilanimous, small, little, twee man. Bessent should be the first one stripped of their Healthcare. Let him cry and plead and beg for service in his hospital gown. Bessent needs to be strung up by his heels from the nearest lamppost. Let him get snobby then!

On display every time his lips move.
