Should We Sue CBS for $80 Billion for Editing Trump’s Interview?!!
By Ben Meiselas
We knew that CBS was compromised when its top producers and leaders were forced out of CBS News and 60 Minutes.
We knew that CBS was compromised when it terminated its relationship with Stephen Colbert because Trump hates humor and the truth.
We knew CBS was compromised when it settled a frivolous $20 billion lawsuit Trump filed against it because he claimed he suffered “emotional distress” from a non-material edit in an interview with Kamala Harris in October 2024. The full interview was made available on the CBS website.
We knew CBS was compromised when it brought in far-right media pundit Bari Weiss to lead its news division, and she began purging others at the network who might be critical of Trump.
Then, last night, there was the 60 Minutes interview of Trump with Norah O’Donnell, where CBS only aired 28 minutes from a 73-minute interview on television. Unlike the Kamala interview—where the edits by CBS were non-material in what was aired on TV versus what was made available on the CBS website—the Trump interview included edits that were very much material. Some of the edits involved critical discussions on nuclear weapons and the economy. Significantly, 60 Minutes edited out a portion where Trump praised the “new ownership of CBS” and its “new leader” Bari Weiss. Trump said the new ownership would give him better coverage and that it would make the news better. This was edited from the CBS broadcast.
Based on the precedent that CBS set in settling Trump’s frivolous case, should a massive class action be brought against CBS for their edits? Since the edits from 60 Minutes last night were legitimately deceptive and intended to protect Trump and CBS, should the class action demand $80 billion? Using Trump math, why not demand $22 trillion?
Although a class action against CBS would likely be a waste of time and would likely get thrown out the way Trump’s lawsuit would have been if CBS were not compromised, there are a few observations we can make.
First, the proud tradition of 60 Minutes that I admired my whole life is dead. Trump put the institution that once was 60 Minutes through a humiliation ritual where it settled a patently frivolous case, and then Trump went on the show to brag about what he did to 60 Minutes.
Second, 60 Minutes knows what it did was wrong. It understands the shame and disgrace it brought upon itself. Why else would it edit out what Trump said about it when he praised them for getting new ownership and a new far-right leader? Why wouldn’t 60 Minutes simply embrace its new MAGA identity when Norah O’Donnell did little to push back on Trump during the interview?
Third, instead of wasting our time suing CBS for $80 billion, this has motivated us to work harder to build our independent media platform here at the MeidasTouch Network. Despite all efforts by CBS and other corporate news outlets to prop up Trump—and despite the existence of state regime media like Fox—Trump’s approval has hit historic lows. People have stopped watching CBS and other corporate news and now watch MeidasTouch instead. We easily get more views than CBS—by multiples of 20 to 50 times the views and engagement they get.
So I view last night’s edited 60 Minutes interview with Trump as another point of motivation for us all. We need to keep building the MeidasTouch Network to combat the capitulation by corporate news. We are already winning the ratings fight on digital platforms, but we can’t get complacent. We appreciate all our subscribers who have helped us grow. Now is a perfect time—if you are not yet a subscriber—to subscribe to this Substack and send a powerful message to CBS today about what you believe the future of news networks looks like.

Yes!!! I’d like to sue him for all the anxiety. I’ve been going through. It’s clearly his fault.
