With more than 9 million Americans who have already left , it occurred to me a while back that maybe a lot of our migrants, immigrants and green card holders as well as others, got out while they could if they had the means. That would explain the low ice numbers - and if they went through all the border states to South America they could have gotten out quickly early on.
Locally two specialist doctors offices are no longer answering phones and a US educated pet vet is going back to Australia. Probably half of the medical staff in this area is heading out or has left unless born here.
And there's no telling how many are missing that we simply just do not know about who have been disappeared.

Where I live the community is mobilizing - we have a huge Afghan refugee population, I volunteer helping with English lessons (for 5 years so far), their resettlement funds were completely cut and SNAP is on the cutting board. We are doing all we can to look after them while we fight the regime on this. It's a GOOD thing for the communities to step up and get involved at the local level. It makes us all stronger.
And yet; it's only one small component of what the Fat Fascist Felon has done, and will continue to do, to harm the people he is directed to serve, and destroy the very governmental structures that support that construct. smh

To meet the needs of our population, I still believe that neighborhoods need to keep a large supply of shelf-stable foods, along with a supply of fresh items and water, replaced as needed. With nearly each neighbor supplying a few items a month, it will be easier to maintain an adequate supply with less burden overall.
Until we can get rid of the current administration, there's no guarantee of funding important programs like SNAP.
What about neighborhoods where people can barely afford their rent that has been greedily raised by disgusting corporations driven by more wealth and profit rather than providing affordable places for people with low incomes? They are barely able to buy food for themselves, much less provide food for the rest of their community.
