NC also elected a Dem Superintendent of Public Schools, defeating a woman with no public schools experience who was literally at the Jan 6 insurrection (and took her kids). We also elected a Dem Lt. Governor, Secretary of State AND Jeff Jackson for Attorney General. It was literally the only bright spot of the election for me. I feel marginally better knowing our top state executive branch is actively going to be working for the people.

Oklahoma elected the first Black Mayor of Tulsa, Monroe Nichols. And Oklahoma didn't shift further right this cycle, but basically held it's place. We can't gloss over the strides being made in red states.

I worked on local campaigns in New York, which might not seem like a key state. But we wrestled back a congressional seat on Long Island as well as seats in the state house. I’m very proud of our work, and it helps with the despair I feel about the presidential loss.

But they also voted against their own rights and for Trump at the federal level? Does this make sense?

I'm with you. Something smells very fishy. Why vote for all the Dems and turn around and vote for That POS?

Voting for state candidates can be for different reasons than voting for federal candidates. But having such discrepancies do add to suspicions there was tinkering with results at the federal level, but the state level may have been a bridge too far. It wouldn't be Starlink with some ray manipulating computers. More likely a sophisticated unnoticed cyber attack months ago. Best I understand (and I am as qualified to comment on this as Hegseth is to be Secretary of Defense, except I wash my hands) is it's all about algorithms. The problem with pursuing this is if there was a cyber attack instigated by a foreign state it is an act of war. More likely it's the traditional tried and true ways of depriving people of their vote. There are the 2.7 million (so far) mail in and provisional ballots the Republicans had trashed by the legal system. Shame on them. This is where there are problems with Rule of Law. And that is another discussion.

The only thing that makes any sense to me, and trying to stay away from conspiracy theory, is racism and misogyny. I don’t know enough about these other elected officials to do the analysis.

Yes! They're fed lies and loved the "show" trump put on. We were disgusted and insulted, but 52% of America loved it...or at least tolerated it. Let's also ask why women thought trump would be a good bet. Abortion and women's rights, whether they like it or not, is an economic issue.

Finally some good news. Now we have to keep and retain this ground level progress building to 2026 and go at them again.

No one can take the power of determination away from anyone.

You brought a little smile to my face this morning.. but our ballots need to be protected and counted correctly ..russian interference to call in a bomb threat, based on the conclusion from that state, is beyong comprhension and yet it happened way too close for comfort..Our machines are sacrosanct and must be protected.

Wins in state elections, especially swing states, can start to undo the damage that MAGA caused since 2020.

Thank goodness Josh Stein has veto power in NC. Maybe all the hours I put in will count for something. Thank you Meidas.

Still hard to believe that many people voted down-ballot blue and selected Trump. Makes no sense.

Yes but we need to look at some very obvious weaknesses within the Democratic Party. Full disclosure, I am an Independent. I would love to see a strong third party emerge which would attract some from the left, some from the right and most unaffiliated. If we are going to protect this country from MAGA, we need to be strategic and organized.

That is all so very encouraging but I must say that it makes me jealous as I wish Iowa would have echoed the success of those neighboring states, though we had a few wins, and we have the abortion ban that they did NOT put on the ballot for Iowans to be able to say what we wanted, as other states have done. But this success of other states gives me hope that maybe that can happen in the next 4 years in Iowa once enough people get fed up by the Republican practices.
