As far as the slush fund, it is outright theft of taxpayers’ money. CREW has filed suit to stop it, I hope they have ‘standing’ as taxpayers.
I’ve also follow Glenn for years and I trust him. And yes I agree it’s illegal. But Trump doesn’t care about the rule of law. And laws mean nothing if they aren’t enforced.

And to add insult to injury, SCOTUS justices have clearly shown their cards and their longterm agenda. So right now, enforcement under the current circumstances seems like a long shot. And recently Chief Justice Roberts lamented about the increased criticism and the resulting reputational harm of the court. Well, boo hoo! Roberts also said, “As soon as you personalize, it can become problematic.”

Right. Roberts and Alito can't make these types of decisions and then pretend that politics has absolutely nothing to do with it. They started it when they granted Trump immunity.
It's not just trump but the entire GOP Congress who believe laws mean nothing and somehow we the people need to be doing more to call them out for their support of every single thing trump does from molesting girls to stealing from the US citizens (to changing our allies from Europe and North America to Russia and China and I guess North Korea). We need to be contacting our local media over and over to urge them to let their viewers/readers know whose fault it is they can no longer afford much of anything unless they were lucky enough to have savings.
Unfortunately local media are constrained by their networks that are loyal (or blackmailed by threats of lawsuits) to Trump. Or threats from the corrupt FCC chairman Brendan Carr, who lives in Trump's back pocket.

But then, after the house democrats impeached him - not once but TWICE - not only did they stare at their navels - they literally broke their oaths to protect the constitution and the rule of law and gave him a pass, HIGH FIVES ALL AROUND!
Wait… there’s more! They then gleefully RE-ELECTED a convicted felon and a sexual predator!
I have no idea how they look at themselves in the mirror everyday. Are they so greedy, so addicted to their own power that they torched their own integrity and values and principles? Or are they simply spineless cowards who are literally afraid of the emperor who has no clothes, the haggard witless face behind the empty bravado?
What do they tell their children and grandchildren?
I just have to believe they teach their children and grandchildren to lie cheat, steal, bully and molest other kids. Not sure how they square that with any Sunday School lessons, but where there's a will there's a way.
Yep. And I admit that I’m an idealist, a card-carrying optimist, to my core. But what we’re witnessing right now is testing my conviction and confidence. I do on occasion shake my fist at the heavens and scream “do not make me come up there. It will NOT be pretty!”
But I’m also an Einstein fan and one of my favorite Einstein quotes is -
“The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or hostile universe.”
And I choose friendly. I believe that goodness will always triumph over evil. Because otherwise we, as a species, would have destroyed the planet by now.
Hopefully I won’t have to rethink that choice anytime soon…
Mothers like me with children in the military are horrified and terrified in equal measure. If they don't starve them to death first, these servicemen and -women are really in for it. New this year: an ulcer. First time in 62 years the stress outweighed my ability to deal with it.
Please thank your kids for their service and sacrifices. I will pray for all our service men and women during this uncertain time. There is absolutely no reason for this “war” with Iran.

He’s doing a lot of damage outside the country as well, with citizens of Greenland, Canada afraid of losing their countries; and Ukraine losing its children to war while Poland, other NATO countries have to worry about a desperate and angry Putin resorting to nuclear weapons, while Trump makes it more and more clear that he has changed sides - perhaps to punish all those people who have not loved and respected him sufficiently.
I don't think the GOP Congress has any side - other than by Trump's side - no matter what damage is done to the people who voted them in. In many ways, they are the worst of the whole group (the Judas among the disciples) , because they have the power to stop it all and save us all, including the future of their own children.

What I find totally disheartening is the grip total corruption has on the Executive and Legislative Branches. The paralysis of the rule of law is utterly disgraceful. The GOP is turning into a clone of Putin’s regime and destroying the American democracy from within.
