The key to defeating Trump? Mass non-cooperation | Mark Engler and Paul Engler
The following are excerpts from this article.
“The extraordinary level of grassroots solidarity and creative resistance in anti-ICE protests in Minnesota has given people a new appreciation for the power that mass non-cooperation can have in resisting the Trump administration’s drive toward authoritarianism. And it has created an awareness of why such action is clearly needed.
Early in Trump’s second term, an array of mainstream critics expressed skepticism about the value of continued protests in the streets. They invested their faith in institutions such as Congress and the courts. But as these institutions – along with law firms, universities and the business community – have each caved in to the administration’s demands and proven themselves unwilling to catalyze an ardent defense of democracy, it has been left to the people themselves to do this essential work.
Mainstream political thinking in the US sees power as “monolithic,” resting in the hands of senators, generals, billionaires, presidents and CEOs. From that vantage point, the options for opposing a rogue administration seem desperately thin: wait for elections, file a lawsuit, hope for some unforeseen maneuver by elites. This worldview breeds despair. One prominent Democratic party consultant even advised that the best course for progressives is simply to “roll over and play dead”.
Those immersed in social movements look at the process of change in a different way than political insiders do. Instead of subscribing to the monolithic view of power, they hold a social view of power, which understands that those in positions of authority are dependent upon the cooperation and support of the governed.
Now, as then, the list of methods is best seen as an invitation to creativity, reminding organizers they have many tools in their collective toolbox – each with distinctive properties and powers. The potential of civil resistance is not just in holding large demonstrations. It is in drawing from a vast array of strikes, boycotts, noncooperation tactics and artistic protest. And it is in coming up with innovative forms of creative resistance that may never have been seen before.”

Those of us in The Resistance must think beyond the midterms, about how to stop and reverse the fascist takeover of the country.
Please: Resist. Stop cooperating. Stop spending, except for essentials. Stop the fascist takeover.

The nation wide demonstrations by the VOICE of We The People harkens back to the times of our founding (cf Ken Burns intensive review of how we came to be).
Grateful for your rational reporting. I hope people realize that when DJT says Zelenskyy could have ended the war multiple times, he is referring to surrender. In DJT's mind, "surrender" is a deal. But no intelligent person who actually understands Putin's strategy would do that. But DJT has no idea what it means to be loyal to a country, as we've seen.
What good would prosecuting Bessent and Mullin do? Trump would just pardon them. The only way to stop it, in my opinion, is for Congress to actually march on the White House, occupy the Oval Office, make a fucking scene for someone's sake, like all of ours. Trump capitulates very easily, show some goddamn force and balls...and ovaries for Congresswomen.
Frump should keep his mouth shut because he continues to tell lies, he breaks his own laws and allows and encourages the deaths of people on all sides. He needs to be held accountable for everything along with his administration.
Something about Trump’s lie about an “agreement” between Russia and Ukraine on not targeting energy seems a little different than his usual lies. Perhaps it’s because of how quickly it was shown to be false. Maybe those inclined to give Trump the benefit of the doubt will now say enough is enough, he really is an immoral con artist.
Corruption Of Our Voting System: Presidential Abuse Of Judicial System
Let’s be clear, the piece of paper called a ballot is dangerous to Cheeto and his fascist allies.
Cheeto wanted the fascist Republican Congress to pass the SAVE Act which would disenfranchise registered voters. The fascists didn’t have the votes due to Democratic opposition. So the requirement of state’s voter rolls was to get names so they can disenfranchise registered voters was opposed by most states.
The Constitution states that the states have the power to administer elections and Congress has the ability to supervene at times but the states overall administer elections. Now SCOTUS is being asked to overrule a lower court action that prevents USPS from involvement of mail in votingby skipping the appeal process to ask SCOTUS to intervene. MSM is not dutifully covering this topic and hence leading voter confusion...not the executive branch. There is no role of the president to intervene in elections.
What we are seeing is an abuse of the judicial system by the president and his “personal law firm”(said tongue in cheek), the DOJ. The Constitution is behind WE the People.
Thank you Ben 🫶

Thank you for restacking, and sharing, to help Spread the Word!
Americans are shallow and greedy. Asking them not to buy shit they don’t need is beyond them. Boycott Amazon? Don’t buy the latest phone? Unthinkable.
People would rather complain than take simple steps to stop the destruction the regime is committing.

congress needs to make DC a state. that way, when trump issues federal pardons for all his thugs, DC, as a state, can indict them.
Yeah but bringing in sanctioned diesel to all states are also a state crime, right?

Excellant points!
Zelenskyy needs to do whatever he needs to do. Most of the world is against Drumpf and MAGA. Take Russia’s energy down. Do it.
Thanks Ben. The news is depressing but we need to know what the hell is going on.
Thank you for what you share! The truth is always very welcome.

The old media outlets are not covering the truth anymore. Thank you for your succinct coverage
A million dollar fine, per day, for any “news” organization reporting false information or propaganda. Minimum. Shut that shit down.
Angie I agree! Something definitely needs to change! Also Fox should be stripped of the title “Fox News”.
