Hey everyone, it’s Ben Meiselas from the MeidasTouch Network, here with our last Sunday Morning Coffee together before the midterms.
Meidas Mighty, it’s here. We are 48 hours away from the midterm elections.
Before I give you my thoughts, I just want to say how freaking proud I am of everybody here.
Think about where we all were two years ago, and think about where we are now. It was not a foregone conclusion that we would be here, stronger than ever, shoulder to shoulder, approaching the midterms from a position of strength and not weakness.
That is a testament to you, to your willpower, to your love, to your fight, and to this community. I’m thankful for you, and you should know that all of the work you’ve done has paid off.
There’s no guarantee of what’s going to happen in this election, but we’ve put ourselves in the best position possible, and there’s not a single thing I would do differently. I just want you to know how grateful I am for all of you and how much I love you.
I needed to say that right at the top.
All right, I’m drinking my coffee right now and feeling a little energized.
Reflecting on this past week, I also need to thank you for your support of WTF America: The Way Out of This Hell and Back to Democracy, the book I wrote with my brothers. It debuted at number 2 on the New York Times bestseller list, and that’s thanks to you. It beat Newt Gingrich’s book and all of the right-wing books, and it was number 1 in politics and news. So thank you for that.
So here we are, approaching the midterms. Let’s stipulate that polls don’t vote. I’ll also stipulate that I’m a much better newscaster and reporter than I am a prognosticator. And as you know from reading WTF America, I am not someone who loves the gamification of politics. With all of those stipulations on the table, the polls show Democrats look poised to take control of the House and gain a significant number of seats there, and Democrats also seem ready to take control of the Senate.
Democrats are finishing strong, while Trump and MAGA are not just finishing weak, they are finishing disastrously weak.
Sadly, that’s also a testament to the damage MAGA has caused the country.
They made all of these promises about affordability, about no more never-ending wars, about releasing the Epstein files, and they betrayed every one of them, which means Americans are suffering.
Everybody is struggling to get by, while Donald Trump was throwing a Great Gatsby, Epstein-style party at Mar-a-Lago last night with the Epstein class, partying it up and saying we’re in a golden age and everything is amazing. We all know that’s not the case.
No wonder corruption and affordability are the top issues heading into this election.
For me, beyond the polling, one of the biggest data points I’ve looked to is the special elections that have taken place over the past two years. I remember the first special elections in January of 2025, and then each month after that, you would see Democratic overperformance in Trump plus 18, plus 20, or plus 30 districts. The reporting would always be that there was a shocking Democratic victory here or a shocking Democratic victory there. But after a while, when Democrats kept winning special elections from Iowa to Nebraska to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Florida, it stopped being shocking, and you could start extrapolating real trends.
In my opinion, all of the factors that led to those special election victories are on steroids right now. People are livid. They recognize that we need checks and balances, that this Trump regime has been a total and utter disaster, and that accountability is needed. I think Americans are going to vote like their lives depend on it, because they do.
I’ve been saying this is the least political election I’ve ever seen, in the sense that this election really isn’t about politics.
The politics is trying to obscure the humanity, because what this election is really about is living.
When we talk about the cost of living, let’s not forget the living. The Trump regime has ripped away healthcare and made it nearly impossible to live.
That’s what people are voting on, because it’s no longer “the other” or “them” who are being attacked. It’s everybody. That’s why it’s so important that we always defend each other. As the old adage goes, they may come for this group or that group first, but they’ll come for you too if we don’t stand up for each other. You know that, and we’re seeing it play out now.
People see this regime for the evil, demonic thing that it is, and they’re ready to vote it out.
I’ve also been reflecting on all of these bad faith actors who have popped up in the past 60 days before the election, the consultant class.
Where have these people even been for the past two years? And here they are, telling you to vote for this person or don’t vote for that person, insisting this candidate needs to condemn this or condemn that, demanding that all of these purity tests be passed. Who are these people?
This is why building an independent media network matters so much to me. What we’ve built is a community, and the most important thing in all of this is trust. When we’ve built relationships of trust with independent media, we collectively fortify our minds against these bad faith actors and political operatives who pop up right around elections to distort, confuse, coerce, and manipulate.
That was one of the most important things to me in building out independent media: creating a shield, if you will, against all of this, against the disinformation and against the bad faith actors.
Frankly, it’s about moving politics away from politics and connecting it back to humanity.
That’s what we’re trying to build at the MeidasTouch Network, and it’s a bigger, broader philosophy I talk about a lot in WTF America.
Because after this election, that’s when a lot of the work begins. I’ve been saying at the MeidasTouch Network that the most important days are going to be November 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th, and December 1st and 2nd.
Those are the days when we need to keep building and actually work harder than ever.
We weren’t built just for an election. We’re built for generations, we’re built for humanity, and we’re built to make sure we get generational change done.
So I want you to know that our work is going to have to be extra hard after the election too. That doesn’t mean we won’t have some sleepless nights in the next 48 hours.
By now you may have heard about the event we’re doing on election night. It will be hosted by Scott MacFarlane and Katie Phang from our full studio in Washington, D.C., and our White House correspondent Luke Radel will be working with them as well.
We’ll have candidates and top political leaders joining Katie and Scott throughout the night, and it’s going to be a great program. I’ll also be co-hosting from my home in California.
I hope you also appreciated the special I did the other day with Democratic Congressmembers Jamie Raskin and Jim Himes. Himes is the ranking member of the Intelligence Committee and will be the chair when Democrats take control of the House, and Jamie Raskin will be the chair of the House Judiciary Committee.
They told us all about how they are preparing for every possible scenario of election interference. If you haven’t watched it yet, you should. It’s on our live feed on YouTube, and we posted it here on Substack too.
It made me feel very confident, and I know it made all of you feel confident, that we have top people in leadership who have built war plans and strategies for every possible election scenario. That doesn’t mean Donald Trump isn’t going to try things. Of course he is.
But everybody I’ve talked to, and I’ve been using our massive platform to get this message out, has prepared for every possible move by Trump, Elon Musk, and all of these despicable creatures.
We’ve also brought top people from the ACLU and many other groups onto the MeidasTouch Network, Legal AF, and all of our other channels, and they’re ready to go as well. They’ve gone through hundreds of scenarios, and in each one they’ve mapped out what a response looks like 25 or 30 steps ahead.
Wild cards can still happen, but the point is that there has been massive preparation within the pro-democracy community to fight back against Donald Trump’s maliciousness and the wrecking ball that is this regime.
Everybody is deeply, deeply prepared, and that’s an important message I want you to have heading into these final 48 hours.
Of course, I’m also focused on a lot of other events, including international developments, the escalation of the war in Iran, the escalation of the war in Ukraine, and the G20 summit that just wrapped up. I’ll be doing a lot of videos on that today, so keep checking here and on the YouTube feed.
I’m also doing a lot of features on the Trump regime’s attacks on South America, which I’m sure you’ve seen some of.
We’re covering it all.
But folks, we’re 48 hours away from the midterms.
Let’s make this final push a strong one.
Let’s get out the truth, and let’s fight for democracy.
And after the election, let’s keep working hard, building structures, and fortifying and growing this movement.
I’m so proud of you, and I’m so grateful for you.
Thanks for subscribing to the Substack.
I appreciate you all so much, and if you haven’t subscribed yet, subscribe now.
Have a great day, everybody.

Thanks for all you do for us. I'm so proud of you and love your book. It's a wonderful listen. I listen to it at night.
Thanks so much for all your do.
I might be Charlie Brown and the electorate is Lucy holding the football, but I have so much more confidence that we will Smackdown this fool and his sycophants this time. All over we are seeing more and more people who have grown disenchanted with his bs. The battle for America isn’t over if we win on Tuesday, there will be so many more big moments we need to show up for.
