Sunday Morning Coffee with Ben Meiselas and Meidas Mighty

I am writing this on Sunday morning, December 8, 2024, while drinking my first cup of coffee. I decided I would stop writing in my private journal and make my journal public for the Meidas Mighty to see and to record for posterity.

We are living in the middle of historic changes where I believe dictators and wannabe dictators will be toppled one by one. They overplayed their hand.

In Georgia, the pro-Putin “Dream Party” is falling. In Romania, Putin’s puppets have been exposed and elections invalidated. Damascus has fallen, and Syria’s Assad has been toppled. Putin looks weaker than ever. Trump looked like a bumbling fool at the Notre Dame Cathedral in France as Macron showed what leadership looks like, bringing an energized Zelensky into a photo op with Trump. It feels like everything is happening everywhere all at once.

The Meidas Mighty understandably experienced temporary despair after the election. I know many didn’t want to continue the fight and resigned themselves to disappearing for the next four years. But, boy, has that sentiment changed.

The Meidas Mighty is revitalized and energized. Sure, we are pissed, but we are survivors, and we are channeling our energy in the right ways now. Comments of despair I see are now being replaced with comments of hope and resolve. It’s pretty incredible, actually.

I think Trump and MAGA thought we were just going to go away after Trump won. The strange and telling thing is, even though the election went their way, Trump and MAGA still seem upset and unfulfilled. Their entire movement was based on hate and anger, and they have no clue how to get things done. Trump picked a cabinet of alleged rapists, alleged child sex traffickers, drunks, Putin apologists, and billionaires with conflicts of interest.

Oh, let’s talk about those billionaires for a second. They couldn’t help but mock us all after the election and gaslight us. They revealed their collusive efforts to buy the election for Trump. We learned that Elon Musk was behind a political action committee called the Ruth Bader Ginsburg PAC (RBG PAC), which stole the name, image, and likeness of the late great Supreme Court Justice who fought for women’s reproductive rights. The RBG PAC—Elon’s secret PAC—gave a fake endorsement to Trump.

The word of the end of 2024 and into 2025 is “rug pulling”—these billionaires pulled the rug out from under Americans.

Americans are waking up to the rug pull leading into the new year. Americans are realizing it’s not trans people or migrants who hurt this country—it’s the exploitation by billionaires who are rigging the economy and perpetually pulling the rug. Americans are realizing corporate media are rug pullers for the oligarchy. Now…I wish Americans would have realized that before the election, but we have no time for a pity party.

I am almost done with my cup of coffee as I write this, so let me say this:

I want us to usher in a generation of peace and prosperity here in America and abroad. Let this election not be our curtain call…let it be the opening of the curtain to a new age where all people can be treated fairly, where we don’t get rug pulled, where we care about the environment, where we value education and don’t burn books, where we respect civil rights, and where we don’t tolerate or promote assholes…Sorry for the curse—heavily caffeinated here now.

So let’s go, Meidas Mighty!

I am so damn proud of you.

I am not fearful at all.

I am energized.

I am ready to fight with you.

I have a slight stomach ache because I didn’t eat anything with that coffee.

But I am so damn ready to take our country back.

We will organize, and we will activate. We will look back at history and tell our kids and grandkids what we did in this moment.

You have the power, and we will never let them take it away!
