Virginia, I'm doing the same and also on SS. I love protests, but can't march. Luckily I have a friend who brings me to the demonstrations. I bring my sign and a chair, and I am never alone. While most people march, lots of us seniors sit and shout and make good trouble. For me, it's great fun. And thank you for doing all you can!

I am quite sure someone reads what you right, and I think it's very helpful to post our feelings and thoughts and questions. The biggest thing the GOP wants is for us to give up and it's easy to give up when you feel isolated and for now for many many of us the internet enables us to stay connected and to not feel so alone. For me it's not just reading things like the MTN or watching the youtube videos but being able to "talk" with like minded folks though comments on substacts.
I'm in the same boat, but there are a few things we can do. If you can scrounge up any extra dollars donate to Bernie and AOC and/or find out what other Dems are doing town halls in red districts and support them..if we all send $3 it will help. Continue to call your members of Congress...I know how exhausting that is, my MOC are 100% trump supporters and support every hateful policy he gives them to support. But I still call. If it is safe for you to do (I fear retaliation if I speak out publicly at all) send letters to your local newspaper. Contact the DNC, both the national one and your local one and try to get answers from the about exactly what they are doing. IF you are in a red district and if there are no big name Dems coming soon to an area near you, pressure your local DNC to work with local folks to convene your own town hall....at first there may only be a few folks but if you keep it up more will come and get coverage by the local newspaper about what the issues are that people are concerned about. Keep written records and have someone video folks who feel comfortable with that. And if your local media will not write stories about the meetings, then see if you can take out an advertisement (for goodness sakes the churches here do, and they go on and on about God's love and there is no scientific proof that there even is a God so if that does not violate freedom of speech and ad that says 100 members of the smithtown community met on June 2 and 75 were very concerned about cuts to medicaid and 65 were worried they would not be able to heat their home this winter with no heating assistance and 100 are still waiting for FEMA to help with the destruction that happened with the last tornado that came through. And include there will be another town hall in 2 weeks if anyone else wants to come and discuss issues and solutions. Or something like that. If you are in a swing state, see what the DNC is doing about getting senior citizens who live in senior housing places registered to vote and to the polls on election days (I don't think that would be a good idea where I live since 99% of the population is maga and those in senior housing would moslty vote republican because that's how their children vote. And I think a big thing is to not give up. It is very important that we all support one another, and that can mean calling members of congress who do not represent us but who are doing good thigs to let them know we appreciate them and watching as much independent media on youtube or spotify as we can and clicking like and subscribe...most of these you can subscribe but it doesn't cost anything.

I am having a custom chandelier made and I asked the vendor about costs. He kind of sadly laughed and said, "Who is setting the prices these days?" I told him that would be our "president." He said that in a week's span one of his main costs doubled because of tariffs; he said other vendors had been able to avoid them but because he got hit those 2 days specifically that he was unable to avoid the extra fees. He said it was a nightmare and he lost money. I so WISH that there was a single place to collect all these kinds of stories. If vendors all over the country in all types of businesses could tell their stories, perhaps the general public would catch on and Trump could be stopped.

I'm a small (ish) business owner with 100 employees. I estimate that for the last couple months 25% of our time has been spent trying to figure out how to handle the ever-changing tariff situation. Multiply that by hundreds of thousands of companies doing the same, and think about the loss of productivity and lost opportunities the U.S. has suffered. This idiot is destroying our country every which way, and in addition is destroying our relationships around the world. I traveled to both Montreal and Toronto in the last month and did not find a single person who had anything good to say about trump. whether a shopkeeper, a waiter, an Uber driver or a business person, they were up to date on the latest about trump, and knew more than the average American. We invited a sophisticated business person from Vancouver to come to our offices in LA and he said maybe in a year or 2, but he's too scared at the present (he's of Indian origin). For the love of God, we need this insanity to end. BTW, we will have to raise our prices or charge a tariff surcharge.

He appointed people from 3 groups: people from Fox who give him praise; people who hang around MaraLago and give him money; and the Heritage Foundation who gave him the plans and personnel to completely remake the government into a corrupt system that enriches him. He’s neutral on the rest of their agenda since he hates dark-skinned people, women and the LGBTQ+ community too, but doesn’t care about laws on sex, education or religion so long as they don’t affect him.
Bottom line — yes, he’s a puppet.

I feel sorry for the small business owners. Not only are the big box stores trying to put them out of business, now they have to deal with tariffs.
I figure it's more lies to mislead the public popularity. This guy is at the bottom of the it pile. So I really doubt any things that make it sound like Trump is popular. Yeah right hahahahaha that's a good one. The most disliked and hated this would be closer to the truth

Yes this is all out of the fascist playbook. Create a smoke screen, the old tariff game "Pump and dump" Drive the population into a poverty slump. It's all about getting complete control . and I mean complete control. Decimate the constitution, rule of law and democracy. Ignore the courts , make them ineffective and toothless. Threaten the justices. Control the media, Instill fear and trepidation into the populace. Ignore due process. Deport the undesirables , anyone with a shaded skin tone, political foes, alleged gang bangers, those that voice political concerns. Create a crisis and convince the folks you are the only one that can fix it. What caused the birth of the Nazi party: Widespread economic misery, fear, and perception of worse times to come, as well as anger and impatience with the apparent failure of the government to manage the crisis, offered fertile ground for the rise of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party. I'm a small (ish) business owner with 100 employees. I estimate that for the last couple months 25% of our time has been spent trying to figure out how to handle the ever-changing tariff situation. Multiply that by hundreds of thousands of companies doing the same, and think about the loss of productivity and lost opportunities the U.S. has suffered. This idiot is destroying our country every which way, and in addition is destroying our relationships around the world. I traveled to both Montreal and Toronto in the last month and did not find a single person who had anything good to say about trump. whether a shopkeeper, a waiter, an Uber driver or a business person, they were up to date on the latest about trump, and knew more than the average American. We invited a sophisticated business person from Vancouver to come to our offices in LA and he said maybe in a year or 2, but he's too scared at the present (he's of Indian origin). For the love of God, we need this insanity to end. BTW, we will have to raise our prices or charge a tariff surcharge.
Charge the tariff surcharge so people know why the price increased.
Every company affected by tariffs should separate the customer charge for the tariff. Amazon was supposed to do it but Bazo chickened out after Trump called him.

When the polls showed Trumps approval rating going down all we heard was that the polls were fake or rigged and nobody cared what the polls said anyway. Now his approval has somehow gone slightly up I wonder if they're still fake or rigged. We will see tomorrow when his team do the usual tour of Sunday shows how many of them mention the polls and how many times Creepy Karoline mentions them at the next press meeting.
