Michelle Obama (2018, 2025): “Democracy continues with or without you. [D]emocracy doesn’t wait for you to be bothered. It moves on as it rightly should and therefore the people who vote determine the direction of the country, determine the mood, the tone, and the people who stay out don’t get a say.” https://tinyurl.com/4y49xevr

Barack Obama (2025): “Our democracy is not self-executing. It depends on us all as citizens, regardless of our political affiliations, to stand up and fight for the core values that have made this country the envy of the world.” https://tinyurl.com/3xp9knzt

Barack Obama, Keynote Address at the [July 27,] 2004 Democratic National Convention Online by Gerhard Peters and John T. Woolley, The American Presidency Project https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/node/277378 [Worth reading (or watching) in its entirety to recall who we were just 21 years ago, and will be again once we pass beyond this and them]

“That is the true genius of America, a faith in the simple dreams of its people, the insistence on small miracles. That we can tuck in our children at night and know they are fed and clothed and safe from harm. That we can say what we think, write what we think, without hearing a sudden knock on the door. That we can have an idea and start our own business without paying a bribe or hiring somebody's son. That we can participate in the political process without fear of retribution, and that our votes will be counted - or at least, most of the time.

It's that fundamental belief - I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper - that makes this country work. It's what allows us to pursue our individual dreams, yet still come together as a single American family. "E pluribus unum." Out of many, one. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America.

In the end, that is God's greatest gift to us, the bedrock of this nation; the belief in things not seen; the belief that there are better days ahead. I believe we can give our middle class relief and provide working families with a road to opportunity. I believe we can provide jobs to the jobless, homes to the homeless, and reclaim young people in cities across America from violence and despair. I believe that as we stand on the crossroads of history, we can make the right choices, and meet the challenges that face us. America!”

It may have been 21 years ago but remember exactly where I was because it became crystallized in my memory. It was riveting and when he finished I looked at my husband and said that man is going to be President one day. Never did I believe it would be only four years later. I weep every time I hear him speak for what our presidency has lost; the eloquence, the dignity, the humor, the humility.

We thought the much the same thing by asking, “Why not him this time, right now?” That speech had to percolate for four years, but it gave truth (if only off by 8 years) to the speech that RFK (the real one) made: “WASHINGTON, May 26 [, 1961]— Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, in a broadcast to the world, today acknowledged ... "There's no question that in the next thirty or forty years a Negro can also achieve the same position that my brother has as President of the United States, certainly within that period of time." NYT, 27-May 1961 (archived) https://tinyurl.com/mr24c9cj

We miss his wonder. We are able to relive some of it by watching the Crooked Media podcasts (https://crooked.com/podcasts/), hosted by people now 40-45 who in 2009 were the “Best and Brightest” (and still are today): Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Tommy Vietor, Ben Rhodes, Dan Pfeiffer and others who are guests. Books they have written (easy to find by name) give insider’s views with integrity and respect for Pres. Obama.

Well, that's certainly changed. Gosh, what could have caused it?

The US is certainly no longer envied. With old Lard Ass running the show, the world laughs at us; some claim we got what was coming to us; and others pity us wondering how the people could have put that scourge back in charge.

We heard this song in 2004 when W was elected to a second term. How could we let Chaney destroy, so KBR could rebuild, Iraq, while leaving Saudi Arabia, home to 90% of the 9/11 terrorists untouched (worse now under Fatso kissing MBS's backside). The rest of the world truly must not (or maybe by now they do) believe how stupid we are

When the con falls on deaf ears and we see the subterfuge of a magician who keeps trying to pull rabbit after rabbit out of his hat to convince us of his "act", we see through the charade and comprehend the truth and the transparency of his tricks to hide the truth. We need to keep pointing the finger at Trump's miscarriage of justice, thus implying his guilt at every turn... The trust meter plummets... And his believability goes down the tubes more and more...

Throw the bastards in jail, ALL of them.

Who cares if you can't jail some of them... jail them anyway! They obviously don't care about the rules or the law, so why should anyone else?

I don't think they understand what they promised is not being fulfilled. They spent over 3 million dollars having people work 24/7 to comb through them before Trump signed the order to release them. STOP PARTITIONING THEM OUT!!! RELEASE THEM NOW! They said they were redacting names of the victims. We now know who they are. They said they were going to cover up the obscene pictures. I agree with that!!! What I don't agree with us them redacting photos of prominent men and women. These men and the women committed horrible acts of abuse to children. I don't give two sh*ts of how prominent there are or were. The mere fact that our government knows and is doing nothing, THATS WHAT I CARE ABOUT.

The (so self-called) Peace President has: Attacked Iran with bunker busters. Attacked Syria (current news). Attacked, variously, boats with nationals from Columbia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. We are not at war with any of these countries. Or Chicago. Or LA. Or New Orleans. Or Portland. Or the Twin Cities. Or Memphis. Or NC cities. Or Wash. D.C.

As always, force is used because cruelty through lethal dominance is the point.

Do we have to rely on Netflix, here-say rumors, or the victims themselves? Well, here's an idea. In the 1000 FBI agents, there must be one who will testify the removal of documents and names, videos and pictures that would implicate these Trump donors and politicians. ONE will shed the light of the corruption that will close the book on Cheeto.

Get a federal judge to sign off on a search warrant and march right down to the DoJ and start loading up the rest of the files . Use the FBI if you need to. Law is law! Don’t whine about how they won’t turn the files over! Go get them!

Michael Cohen's evasive answers on the recent Epstein panel and his unfounded attack on Zev Shalev must not be tolerated. He has lost all credibility for me. I won't support anyone continuing to give his bad takes a platform. He is controlled opposition and Meidas is complicit.

Plus, your constant clickbait emails soliciting paid subscribers will not be missed. You already love to brag about how big you are. You also have one of the most expensive paid subs on SubStack. There are numerous lesser known, much hungrier, real investigative journalists who need/deserve our support more than you do. Bye bye, MT.
