Even the detective-type shows I watch now, whether current or reruns from probably the '90s on, are always talking about "how we do things here," especially when dealing with people from other countries, whether immigrants or visitors. Law enforcement in the U.S. has never been perfect, and at times it has been pretty damned horrendous. However, until recently (say, from 2016 on, and a hundred times that since Jan. 20 of this year), it hasn't often been engaged in blatant criminality like this, and certainly not on a continuous basis and getting worse all the time, not to mention in broad daylight.
Our justice system, such as it is, is allowing this rampant corruption and the shredding of our hard-won Constitution, for which the blood of patriots has been spilt for 200+ years. The shame is on us.
