In Japan, all people must have health insurance, but there are three options: an employer-based healthcare plan; buy your own plan out of pocket; or sign up for the government's plan, which has a premium that varies by your income. Really poor people pay around $12 a month. Do you see how easy it would be? If you have an employer-based plan, you just keep it and everyone else signs up for Modified Medicare. We can't keep the current Medicare as is because it is too expensive and it doesn't cover eyes/ears/teeth/prescription drugs.
Why isn’t the discussion focused on Medicare for All? Anything less is just rearranging the deck chairs while the boat continues sinking! Hard to believe shoring up the ACA is even being discussed at this point. Why aren’t we able to get serious about this?
I received notice yesterday that my Medicare D supplement will cost me $50.00 more per month next year. I’m dreading to see how much my Medicare premium & the B supplement to it will increase. Last year combined the increase was >$112.00/month. Please help.
I am seeing similar increases for Part D and for supplement. I am also noting many fewer choices for Part D plans here in NE Florida. i believe current CMS wants everyone on Med Advantage.
In some areas where hospitals are closing can people die trying to have their babies? Some of these hospitals are very far away and the weather can present dangerous conditions to travel
It has happened and is happening that women die needlessly without healthcare. You can die delivering a baby on the sidewalk or in a car just outside the doors of an emergency room in urban areas or rural.
Did you notice how CMS is sending out press releases almost once a day no about new rural programs? I am truly happy that rural areas are getting some new (or returning) services. I hope this lasts. But, I do see the terrible inequities on geographical access

The continuous glucose monitoring systems for all diabetics would make a huge impact on diabetes related illnesses and hospitalizations. These shouldn't be so difficult to access for diabetics. The patient and family could monitor the blood glucose. The cost per year is far less than one hospitalization.
Years ago my Gastroenterology CRNA asked If I agreed to recording our visit with AI. As a curious RN myself I was excited to see how it worked. Reading the results made me furious because of numerous errors between what I had said and the AI report. AI was supposed to improve a health care visit not control and change what was actually said!I do not read anything written by AI to this dayto this day.
I think it's gotten somewhat better. But even AI sites warn you. Most provide a citation for each piece of info. But even now I wouldn't want and AI report.
I have been on Medicare Advantage for 8 years. Some plans have been better than others. Dear leader has caused reductions in what Medicare pays to practitioners. I read an article the other day that my current plan may do away with some areas of the country. Notification letters go out in Oct. I always just follow my practitioner, whatever plan she's accepting. ACA doesn't factor in for me, but it is an absolute travesty that so many Americans have lost, or struggle to afford healthcare now. Some of that is a result of Dear Leader's racial hatred of anything Obama did. Because Obama did things so well. Drug costs are his next target. He wants to force everyone onto Trump Pharmacy; another get rich scheme for the Trump Crime Family. One of my prescriptions comes from a Canadian Pharmacy. Effective Oct 22 out-of-country medications will be restricted. I wrote letters to my Congressional members; 20 years ago they tried to do the same thing, and public pressure averted it. If you get out of country prescriptions there's still time to write your Congress members.
Please look at Dear Leader's T Pharmacy. All it is is referrals to things like Good Rx, Mark Cuban's Cost Plus, etc. It is merely a coupon collection site. (I think a v few drugs may be ordered directly from it, but not standard lower tier drugs. )

Once since FDR we in most states had a COUNTY HOSPITAL. Many of us today are alive because of the accessibility and services provided. Affordability came as a secondary issue to handling urgent medical needs. Care for serious medical event was not predicated upon what insurance you had. Most of those hospitals are now gone having been replaced by for profit medical centers responsible to investors first, dividends produced , reduced staff and wages then “oh yes, we do have patients with needs!
Best example: look at Mission Hospital system Owned by HCA and how they closed county and area hospitals in all of Western N C. Citizens have to often cross two or three other counties to get to the hospital. Many life or death situations, patients are having to go to other states for medical operations. Once a beacon of medical professionals and abilities; now the vacuum sucking every $ possible from those in need!

My Part D plan monthly premium increase almost 60%. The deductible (already $600, went up to $700, with no excluded drugs for lower tiers.)
