A brief demonstration of We, the People’s, power of the purse could persuade them to quit supporting HRH and the politicians who enable him.
We quit spending, except on essentials, businesses lose money, stock market goes down, Greedy Bastards pay attention to our demands.
Greedy Bastards own most of the politicians of both major parties. GBs start losing money, then they tell the politicians to change course and do what We, the People want.
I have been buying only absolute essentials for quite some time now. I, also buy at thrift stores and garage sales so that I don't support the greedy people, the one's that own our government. I walk where I can, so that I don't buy gas anymore than I absolutely have to. I make homemade presents, so that I don't have to buy from stores that are turning my money against me. I do without and it doesn't hurt one bit. I no longer watch mainstream tv because it lies to me and supports this regime and not the American people, nor our Country. The problem with this is: I am only one person and too many are not willing to make the sacrifice. When they no longer have any money they will wise us, but until then, I feel that too many people are selfish and not willing to find a different lifestyle. People do whatever you can to NOT support this government and the one's that are contributing to this regime. Who knows, you might find that you like it. It gives me great satisfaction and I feel like I am doing a small part of saying "No, Enough is Enough."
Having just spent this week $3500.00 for 1000 gallons of heating oil and $725.00 for the annual exam and vaccinations for my two healthy dogs, I'm pretty discouraged.
I'm so sorry for all of your expenses. I know that it is hard and will most likely get harder for everyone. My income is low and I stay within it's means, but , also realize that a lot of people have expenses that I don't have. Since the dollar is no longer a dollar, it is hard to stretch with everything going up in price.
Well, I'm fortunate and I'm grateful. But I ask myself, what about the folks who will lack sufficient food (food!) in the coming weeks? I hope the Republican Congress comes to their senses and returns to the negotiating table very soon. We have a good local pantry and I will continue to donate whatever I can.
I, too, hope that the government will come to their senses, but I think that is going to be like throwing money in the wishing well and making a wish. All of us will have to help out in any way we can. Yesterday, at the grocery store, a lady with snap didn't have enough to pay for her groceries, all essential items, so three of us in the line stepped up to help her out. One man gave her $50 for future purchases. She was so greatfull and left in tears. I wish that I had the money to have helped her more. People need to help those that are less fortunate and I hope we will see that happening.
I agree that quite "boycotting" is one of the best tools we have...everyone stop buying "stuff" and focus on buying essentials....many of us are doing that out of necessity, but there still are millions of Americans who have a lot of disposable income and if we quit giving that to Amazon and the rest, and instead gave it to say Ukraine, or just paid our credit cards down or started a saving account, after a few months, that would really make a difference. Sadly small businesses may suffer most and may suffer first, but in many places we can find way to support those small businesses (but what if they also voted for trump..do we reward them for that??I live in a 99% red district and just about all small businesses are trump supporters...if they are not they go out of business because the locals will not support them.). With the holidays coming up it's a great time to start this refusal to buy stuff!

And they've already forced millions of Americans to alter their spending habits, possibly for the rest of their lives, making huge sacrifices such as deciding on food vs. housing vs. medical care. Business ARE losing money and closing, and while the Dow may fluctuate, it's likely not going to drop to the extent that the GBs will feel it in any significant way. GBs who can finance the destruction of the WH, pay for the inauguration, or go to Bezos's wedding, aren't going to feel even a year's long downturn in their hedge funds. And how about that $800M that TD and his fam made out of their crypto business so far? Plenty of money there to spread around and buy compliance if they have to, though that's probably not going to be necessary. [But think what that money could do to help laid-off federal workers -- no, don't. It's too disheartening.]
If altering your spending habits for a few months is a moral imperative for you, please do so. But perhaps also give some thought to a more productive channel for your obvious concern for America.
I watched it last night! I loved it. I was right with Adam through all the ups and downs of the last year on the hill. I teared up several times when I saw what a toll it took on he and his family! He is a national treasure🇺🇸 I am not a republican, but I’m a decent human being with morals and faith in humankind. I would vote for Adam for just about anything! What an awesome human being!!

Yes, Kinzinger has done some admirable things, but also some not so admirable, such as voting to repeal the ACA, supporting penalizing sanctuary cities, opposing the use of federal funds for abortion or health coverage that funds abortion. This was brought to my attention by E Jean Carroll. Wearing a paperclip was a quiet way to identify oneself as a part of the resistance to the Nazi takeover in Germany during the war. She suggested that it was a good idea to do it here and now. I am sorry that it doesn’t seem to have caught on here. I do wear one, they are subtle but telling and when I am questioned about it is a good way to have a conversation, discover a new friend or ask hard questions. Try it, it’s fun. I will admit that it is so subtle so often missed….or….just chalked up to my being old (pushing 90)and not knowing what or why l am doing. Just for fun l wear one color coordinated with my attire.
