I read this just the other day. His wife has a special ministry to gay men to help them become straight. AND Mike Johnson was a lawyer for Exodus International which shut down in 2013. This was a HUGE organization that provided counseling for gay men to become straight. I mean it was huge. It shut down after the leader said, "It doesn't work and we are hurting people shut this mother down" Various articles quote Mike Johnson saying he and his wife have always had a joint ministry.

They couldn't spend all the money they have in a lifetime but these morons want to squeeze out of us money that we spend on basic care. Everyone in this administration should forfeit their health coverage if we have to forfeit ours.

For those of you in Europe 🇪🇺 and Canada 🇨🇦 and Mexico 🇲🇽. Consider yourselves very fortunate. Do not ever let your government do what the United States evil disgusting pieces of shit in office do to us Americans. To them we don't matter. To them they don't care that health care is a human right. To them it is all for profit 📈. Pure greed. It's despicable. We Americans need to start demanding more from our elected officials. They've brainwashed the American people for far too long. It's time to fight back.

This is a response from a Canadian. I hear you. Whenever I read about coverage issues in the US I’m left shaking my head. According to the IMF the American GDP per capita will be just over 89,000 American dollars in 2025. About 7th highest in the world. There is a handful of European countries that do better. Canada is 20th (out of 192 nations) at just over 53,000 US per capita. The wealth that American generates ought to easily pay for a Universal health care program that covers all citizens equally.

Here we never pay for a doctor visit, and never have to worry about the cost of an essential procedure such as an appendectomy. We also never have to have a sales or customer relationship with a for profit insurance company where we might have to haggle over or worry about whether a private company will honour its contract. We have a health card number, we provide it, and we are safe.

We do know we are fortunate. But it has been achieved through evolving a political culture in which it is accepted as fundamental that no person’s life is less valuable because they are of lesser means.

But you are right. We still do observe different health outcomes related to class and racial differences that we want to address. The system is not perfect, and there are always pressures coming from would-be profiteers and right wing groups that would try to exploit those imperfections to erode the system we have evolved. To take it away. We need to remain vigilant.

Thank you for your response. Yes, Canadians must stay vigilant. I'm sure here in the USA 🇺🇸 we never thought this country would fall to fascism. And here we are. So nothing is set in stones. But I k ow you Canadians will fight for the right to keep your universal health care. It May not be perfect as you said, but you have it and it's essential. Elbows up! I hope one day this country's citizens see how valuable we are and stop voting against their own interests. 🗽🇺🇸

I already pay over $700 a month for health insurance via the marketplace. Can I expect to pay another 525/month on top of that? Over 1200/month; over 14K/year will be my new health insurance costs. And that’s before the $100+ copays and prescriptions that aren’t fully covered. And the deductibles and the insurance that already pays only 50% of the cost of preventive procedures. My god.

If Republicans at all cared about their constituents, they would end death panels, oh, sorry, I mean the role of insurance companies in public health care. They can continue to operate in private health care where individuals can pay for their denial of health care.

$700 increase?? I live in PA. I am 57 yo and insure myself and my just turned 18 yo HS Senior son through the ACA. My current premium NET of tax subsidy is $1400/month. If the tax credits are not renewed, my monthly premium is expected to nearly DOUBLE. Could I get a slightly cheaper plan? Yes. BUT, none of the other plans avail in my area cover the meds we need and/or don’t cover my son’s long-standing MH treatment provider. My husband is 72 yo and retired on Medicare and our gross income is less than 75k per year. Between his Medicare, his Medicare supplement and my current ACA premium, we pay nearly 2k per month. NOT including the almost 5k of copayments I had this past year. It is shameful that the GOP gives massive tax cuts to gazillionaires and big biz and helps health insurers make record profits year over year while average Americans can’t afford health insurance. It is sickening.
