I'm not holding my breath waiting to see the nit-so-supreme court do the right thing. But I have been wondering what they think will happen to them if they continue to pander to Trump until he really is in charge and has no further need for them.

The more relevant question is, even if they do the right thing, will the businesses? Will they drop prices or continue pocketing the extra profit? You know the answer. A few may be forced to lower prices but many will not. We are still living it from the post-pandemic inflation. Wealthy, greedy corporations somehow always win.

Another similar question: Assume the Supreme Court rules against the orange one's tariff case and all the collected money has to be refunded to the importers. Will the importers refund the money to the businesses that contracted with them to handle the import? And if they do what will the businesses refund the money to us or just pocket the refund?

The government received the tariff revenue and can structure a repayment plan over time with interest paid back in the form of a direct tax credit when filing a tax return. It's imperative to reduce and regulate tariffs to stop the global impact.

I dont know any supreme leader who needs a supreme court. They are in more danger than they realize. They gave him all the power he needs to roll right over them. Next. They better wake up.

But the majority might be listening to the economic and political interests that got them appointed: the Federalist Society, Heritage Foundation, Cato Institute, ALEC, etc. They've never been big on democracy, but they know what side their bread is buttered on.

I think they know their days are numbered if we take back power in a big way. They may be safe, individually, but they also know it is much more likely that the court will be expanded, mandatory retirement will become law, and real, actionable ethics reforms will happen. But then, a few of them are already so rich at our expense they will either hunker down with the changes or retire.

Cheeto and Affordability

There’s an intriguing aspect to inflation with the purchasing power of the dollar in the toilet The buzz word is affordability How can Democrats create bandaids to help the struggling middle and lower class survive the financial catastrophe that the country is facing To the rescue Mamdani, Wu(Boston). Sherrill, Spanberger to help close the yawning wealth gap where billionaires are becoming obscenely wealthier

The billionaires supporting the Nazi party candidates find themselves behind the eight ball with the rousing electorate smashing on Tuesday Even millions of campaign dollars could not save the radical right rhetoric Despite the right rigging elections in the past no amount is going to buy off an upset electorate Elon found that out in Wisconsin when he tried to buy a seat for a right wing judicial candidate This is the beginning of the French Revolution 2.0 American 21st century style

But one thing we know about Cheeto is his obstinance Nobody is going to tell a malignant narcissist what he can or cannot do So Cheeto isn’t down for the count with his billionaire buddies and his ballroom He’ll find some way of cheating or rigging the upcoming 2026 midterms so the electorate needs to be vigilant about what the Nazis will try to do Voting machines, troop intimidation, poll watchers, biased election officials, seizing of voting machines, it’s all on the table Each election becomes more desperate for Cheeto Last time it was to stay out of jail, now it’s to stay in power for eternity

Well said, but there is more. If one examines the fall of Spain as well as the fall of Rome, England, Portugal, Russia and more, there is a common thread; the wealthy believe Greed is Good and will do anything to become more wealthy. Corruption is usually highly involved. And wars are fought to distract and create a wartime economy. Never good unless you are not involved except to sell war goods. Greed is always present in the fall of empires. Spain took 10 years to fall, much longer than most, because of all the gold they stole from South America.

Billionaires horde all of the operating cash until there is none. Then, they print some more so the workers can still function. That is how some wars were funded and it always causes more inflation. Then the Billionaires slip away to other countries to do the same.

In my humble opinion, most but not all billionaires are like big fat parasites on the economy. They pay politicians to make laws so they don’t have to pay taxes. And the USA has one third of the world’s 3000 billionaires.

Until they learn that reasonable paychecks leads to prosperity and everyone wins that way, they will continue to suck the life out of the economy!

Perfect synopsis Greed corrupts and the parasites feeding on the country come from a place of superiority....since we are so wealthy we should have the power to tell everyone else how they should live Interesting observation about Spain taking longer due to having gold reserves Thanks

i can't help wondering how do people actually turn their brains off? trumpaholics are just coasting on trump propaganda koolaid....and the numbers of people continuing to vote republican means they have accepted and condoned trumps criminal activities and the pain he is inflicting on all of us. i always assumed that anyone with active grey matter would be able to work out the straight-line math that trump tariffs are being paid in america by americans and is causing everything to be more expensive (or less profitable if you run your own business)....but it appears my assumption is wrong because in these elections there are still a huge number of people voting republican. if the so-called great minds in the supreme court cannot work it out then we are all doomed.....and i will never stop saying it......that those who voted for him are responsible in every way. there is a direct correlation of your vote (or non-vote by those who couldn't be bothered to vote) to the economic mess we are all having to deal with! being on fixed income social security it is very easy to see that my food budget is buying less and less for me, and after doing as many generics as possible i still can't afford what i was purchasing in 2024....trump inflation is the only answer...brought to us by trump, trump republicans, and trump voters. Awww... the little wheels that are pumping looney juice through their brain are powering the reader board that runs 24/7 that says "We believe trump, so we don't need no stinking news (truth)!"

The rest of us question stuff, research stuff, look stuff up, and don't buy anything that anyone says until it has been proven, truth with proof, (receipts provided), and even hearing it come out of the mouths of the very people who have been accused of saying it. We are undoubtedly the pains in the asses of the world... but we do our best to keep people informed, keep the dishonest from taking advantage of others, and see to it that things are fair and equal as best we can. We value facts... and we like to see to it that if something is going to be shared with us that it is factual and we can validate it ourselves.

The Supreme Court must realize when they are no longer of any use to the President, he will turn on them in a heartbeat. They need to uphold their oath to the Constitution, protect the people and fix the mess they caused when giving him immunity and thinking he can do anything. Tariffs are taxes and they need to take his power away from using them. They need to take his immunity away from him,as well.

Great update, Michael. Thank you.

There are other problems with tariffs besides being an unnecessary tax on consumers. Besides causing instant inflation, they decrease imports until there is zero income from import tariffs. They provide a false sense of security that building a factory that produces higher cost goods that cannot compete with imports on the world market as goods made in the USA. People always go for the lowest price of goods. Consequently it accomplishes nothing. Trump doesn’t think things through. He has no plan. As he said himself, he only has a concept. And it’s always just half baked because he has NEVER had to accomplish anything by himself. All he knows is how to lie. And con people. BTW, con men always lie. I only hope 60 million people figure that out, but I’m not holding my breath because you can’t fix stupidity. It’s a choice!

Either the pedophile President wins, or SCOTUS finds its backbone and finds for the Constitution. Doubtless some justices will contort themselves into pretzels to find some way to keep the mango moron happy, but if five of them have a vestige of courage and professionalism left, they will find on the plain language which has the power to tax as the exclusive authority of Congress. When they so find, dumb fuck Donny will go ballistic. If they find for Conold and his tariff taxes the American people will go ballistic and the pedophile in chief will exult in his unconstrained power. A reckoning is coming. The constitution or the criminal. What will it be? A nation of laws, or a criminal cult? Will America, the democratic ideal continue? Or will it collapse into an autocracy? Release the pedophile files now. Undermine the pedophile President, and provide room for SCOTUS to find for the people’s Constitution.
