Ask Leticia James, AG in NY. She convicted the conman of financial fraud, not long ago. He overstate his assets to borrow money. He understated his assets when it was time to pay property taxes, etc, etc. The orange fuck is a POS.

Following below is my initial response to Michael’s post. 👇🏻

(And yes, trump is definitely enamored by “the gilded age”, the pomp and ceremony, the sense of glory and glamour he just experienced in England. He’s so preoccupied with the sense of his own “kingly status” that he’s literally recreating it in the WH. It’s so tacky AND ALSO HORRIFYING!)

my response 👇🏻

This is a whole new level of djt’s blatant, unscrupulous exploitation of the people’s WH as his personal, transactional cash register. Quid po quo.

DJT is not only well-known as a notorious liar, a cheat, a thief, a sexual predator, a conman/grifter, a racist bigot, a misogynist womanizer who has a long history of preying on and trafficked young girls for personal profit.

And he’s also a convicted felon who has somehow managed to become the most powerful person in the world, and he is hellbent on destroying our constitution democracy and replacing it with an oligarchic, authoritarian dictatorship.

And now DJT is also proving daily, in plain sight, that he is a modern day ROBBER BARON who is openly operating from the WH.

At this point he obviously believes that he is untouchable and functions above the law. And he won’t stop until, unless someone stops him!

This is a critical, defining moment in the history of our nation, and we must stay united and stand firm against his tyrannical regime!

“…a robber baron was a powerful and wealthy 19th-century American industrialist or financier who became rich by using unethical and exploitative practices to gain control of major industries, often at the expense of workers, competitors, and the public.”

“Ruthless tactics: They used unethical methods, including manipulative market practices, predatory pricing, and the suppression of competitors [and the media] to eliminate rivals and consolidate their power.

Exploitation of labor: Workers in their factories and enterprises were often subjected to low wages, poor working conditions, and harsh treatment.

Political influence: They often used their wealth to influence political decisions and create a system with minimal business regulation, which allowed their abuses to flourish.

Historical context:

The term became popular during the Gilded Age in the United States (late 19th century), a period of rapid industrial growth and vast economic inequality. “ (AI generated)

I wholeheartedly agree. Here’s the frustrating problem: he’s been violating the clause since his first inauguration. And he’s continued to brazenly violate that clause during his second term. But he’s NEVER BEEN HELD LEGALLY ACCOUNTABLE!!! 🤬

“President Donald Trump has been violating the Constitution since noon on January 20, 2017. His decision in the months prior to his inauguration to retain ownership and control of his sprawling business empire—a move that went against both long-standing historical practice and the advice of career government ethics officials—put him at odds with the Constitution’s original anti-corruption provisions the moment he was sworn in.”

Then - “Attorney General Racine and Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh sued President Trump for violating the Constitution’s Emoluments Clauses, our nation’s original anti-corruption laws. The Emoluments Clauses prohibit the president from accepting money or benefits from foreign or domestic governments”.

“During his presidency, Donald Trump faced multiple lawsuits alleging violations of the Foreign and Domestic Emoluments Clauses of the Constitution, which are anti-corruption provisions. These cases were ultimately dismissed as moot by the Supreme Court in January 2021, after Trump left office, without a final ruling on the legal issues.”

Then Early Rulings: “In 2018, a federal court judge issued a historic ruling, defining "emoluments" broadly and allowing the case to move forward. The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals later affirmed that the case could proceed.

Supreme Court dismissal: In January 2021, the Supreme Court also dismissed this case as moot due to Trump leaving office.”

“The dismissals left the core legal issues surrounding the emoluments clauses unresolved by the Supreme Court. Since the lawsuits ended, reports by watchdog groups like CREW and the House Oversight Committee have continued to document payments made to Trump businesses by foreign governments. Some legal scholars argue that Congress could pass legislation to clarify and enforce the meaning of the clauses for future presidents.”

All true. Trump will sell all of us out to line his pockets and massage his ego. His parents really messed that kid up. So many obvious mommy issues... He has to have an extensive list of dissimilar organizations/oligarchs propping him up. All with their own agendas, and all expecting their pound of flesh. Trump does not care what happens after he exits & we are left with Christian nationalists/local terror groups, vs international criminals shooting it out in the streets. And with our global alliances trashed... I appreciate Gavin Newsom and others that are attempting to maintain open lines of communication and trading relationships as an end run around the White House.

Yep. Mommy issues. And also daddy issues. I think he’s spent the better part of his adult life trying to prove to his intelligence (stable genius no doubt), his inherent power, talent, worthiness, value, to everyone, but particularly to his family, his deceased parents, and to himself.

He’s just an empty shell, a bully, coward, unprincipled, no values, no boundaries that define him, no sense of the meaning of self-worth, integrity, trustworthiness. Everyday he’s a reality TV persona, creating a false impression through bravado.

But he’s so cunning, bitter, filled with revenge, delusions of grandeur, so much to “prove” and that’s why he’s so dangerous. I fear we’re heading for civil war, emergency govt shutdown which gives trump full control, full blown armed forces and private militias ala Erik Prince, on the streets, internment camps, American citizens arrested and “disappeared”.

And yrs, he’s managed to destroy our international reputation in just a few months. So we could be staring down the path of WW3 and new World Order. Russia is making more moves on Eastern Europe. And the Middle East is a mess.

Some peacemaker, huh? Nobel Peace price? Anyone who has to beg or bribe for a NPP should automatically be disqualified!

Yes. Gavin Newsom is a gem and should have been the Democratic candidate in 2024! He would have SLAUGHTERED Trump in debates! And I’m SO glad to see him making a mockery of DJT.

Yes, but, by now, it's not just wherewithal. Our tax dollars are being used in a huge grifting ponzi scheme presidency. It's rigged, and even the Supreme Court is tilted to favor that. You or I cannot influence things at this level. A group of extraordinarily rich individuals, using PACs to shield their efforts, can achieve this though. Senator Whitehouse has done some great work breaking all of this down. Robert Reich has throughly explained the methods...

I'm not sure what it was called; but, there was a tv program, maybe called the Rich and Famous or something like that. I remember that it would show these opulent houses that were owned/still owned by very wealthy people. Seems like many were of the owners of big business.

I don't recall ever seeing one of trump's houses; but, then I didn't watch the program all of the time and before disliking him on the Apprentice I probably would not have even recognized his name.

What I am getting at is that he has, to say the least, an unhealthy need to be one of the Rich and Famous. Problem is he can never achieve that in a positive way. Think of how much good he could do if he wasn't hell bent on destroying instead of building. Somehow he seems to think, imo, that building a pretty ballroom is the equivalent of getting respect and honor.

He thinks that rubbing shoulders with royalty rubs off on him.

Merry, your last paragraph is excellent and so apropos.

Merry's avatar

Thank you. And you so nailed it. I don’t watch programs like “Rich and Famous”. And I think I watched maybe 10 minutes of the apprentice. Once. I could immediately see it was BS.

I’ve been following his “career” for decades, since I was living/working in Manhattan around the corner from trump tower. His reputation as a liar, thief, conman grifter, womanizer who brazenly assaulted women, stiffed his employees and his lenders, laundered millions through his casinos, and used “mob boss” style tactics to threaten and intimidate people was well known. I was warned to stay away from him. But I can detect false bravado from a mile away!

But here we are…it’s extremely disturbing.

You may have seen pictures of his TT home and Mar a Lago. Same hideous, gilded, gaudy, tasteless display.

I don't remember how I came to tune in the Apprentice, maybe I was flipping channels. Like you, I only watched for a short time and was not impressed and never returned. I did immediately know that I didn't like trump.

Re the apt., I have seen photos of it before; but, not in such detail. Guess he thought if he lived like a king it would make him one. Real estate people will "dress up" houses, so to speak, to sell new houses. That is what those pictures reminded me of. Not real living spaces; but, fantasy living spaces.

I've seen Mar a Largo pics before. Same thing and now that he really thinks he is a king he is trying to transform the stately White House into a royal palace.

I saw a headline, don't remember if I read it or not, that he was bragging that he put very little of his own money into building this ballroom.

To be fair I was trying to think of one positive thing to say about trump without looking it up to see what MAGA says. It's not murdering people, it's not lying, it's not grabbing women you know where, etc.

I think I know one, he went to his son's graduation and didn't make a fool of himself or his son.

America's billionaire president and his side kicks are taking pure profit and don't seem to care for people within America, or pressing environmental issues at hand.

No wonder Trump was so bad at business. Trump relied on bankruptcy and his fake reputation to catapult him to the presidency.
