So many people don't understand the servant part of civil servant...I was a civil servant for my entire career and in the last many years I was responsible for hiring folks and retention of staff. I did have some folks who were just there for the pay check and it was next to impossible to fire them, but I had more who were so dedicated, and who could make a lot more money in the private sector, but we served the underserved, the vulnerable and they choose that over making money and I know that describes most civil servants. And you put up with so much abuse...people way things to you they would never ever say to someone in the private sector doing the same job, making a lot more money...that's the whole servant part.

Quebec came within a hair of leaving Canada in a scary 1995 vote. However, Quebec does not want to join the USA. Those are the 3 provinces with the strongest separatist movements. The others have sympathizers, but not separatists in any great number.
