After reading your excellent news summary, my head hurts and my heart continues to be crushed by the moronic fascists running our country. These people screw up everything they touch and then lie about it.

Also something like"if you elect me you'll never have to vote again" and "being a dictator on day one". Yet we were told we were being alarmists and that was just "trump being trump". I am heartsick as well and just want to bury my head in the sand. But duty to bear witness to all the depravities and horror keeps me reading, no matter how sickening and terrifying it is.

Kris, I feel ya. What helps me (a mom of active-duty military) (😳), is to reframe what I'm seeing: not the destruction of the US, although that's the initial, overriding emotion. Let's keep the rudder steady, and yes, witness it all, but witness it as the end of the "old world corruption" - kicking loudest as it dies. From these ashes, we will not "rebuild better", but build new. Different blueprints. Closed loopholes. Justice, fairness, compassion and - here's a new one - intelligence. Keep in mind the Ukrainians. They will not give up. Nor should we. Strength from within, Kris. You've got it. We've all got it. Share and borrow it as needed.

Devastating roundup. But the quotes prove this wasn’t improvisation, it’s systematic imperial doctrine. I just published analysis showing how every Trump statement maps onto the November NSS’s “Trump Corollary,” which explicitly authorizes military force to seize “strategically vital assets” from Chinese/Russian influence.

Three things from this collection stand out:

Trump’s own words are the indictment: “We’re going to run the country.” “They stole our oil.” “We’re going to take back the oil.” He’s not even pretending this is about narcoterrorism.

Rubio’s constitutional dodge is the playbook: “This was a law enforcement function” that just happened to require bombing a capital city. The NSS designed exactly this…reframe regime change as counter-narcotics to bypass congressional war powers. Article II authority claimed, oversight circumvented.

China learned the lesson immediately: 440 million Weibo views, posts saying “use the same method to reclaim Taiwan.” When you validate extraterritorial force to extract leaders you deem illegitimate, every autocrat gets a template.

The Hernández pardon versus Maduro extraction isn’t hypocrisy, it’s doctrine. Autocrats who align get pardons. Those who don’t get extracted. The oil makes Venezuela worth the demonstration.

And yeah, Epstein deadline missed same day as Caracas bombed. Distraction through military crisis is textbook authoritarian playbook.

.Article II, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution outlines the impeachment process, stating that the President, Vice President, and all civil officers can be removed from office for Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors, serving as a crucial check on executive and judicial power by holding officials accountable for serious misconduct. It defines who can be impeached (all civil officers) and the grounds for removal, though the specific definition of "high Crimes and Misdemeanors" remains open to interpretation, often including abuses of power and violations of public trust.

This is the most chilling quote in the entire report~

"Business Insider: “A group of about 20 US investors is already planning to travel to Venezuela in March, following news that Maduro had been taken into US custody. Charles Myers, chairman of Signum Global Advisors: ‘I think the centerpiece of Venezuela’s success, looking out 12 months or even 24 months, is foreign investment. A big part of the Venezuela story, starting today, is foreign investment, especially in oil and gas, which is pretty straightforward, but there are massive opportunities in construction, in tourism.’”

… “Myers said it’s not the responsibility of his firm to take a ‘moral position’ on whether it was right or wrong for the US to involve itself in Venezuela’s govt, but rather to help the firm’s clients anticipate investment opportunities or mitigate risk due to geopolitical events.”"

To paraphrase character Jake Green from the early 2000s quaint show "Jericho" "America is not a country, it's a corporation." Or George Carlin ""The USA is nothing more than an Oil Company with an army" "-George Carlin in the 70s

Weiss is following Commodus' example in "The Gladiator" movie: entertain the people so they won't pay attention to what really matters: losing a representative democracy, freedom, civil rights in exchange for persecution, poverty, and slavery. Only a President of Peace would invade "Venezueler" under cover of the Donroe Document in 5th-year commemoration of the J6 insurrection. J.B Pritzker's astute analysis was mildly refined by Colombian President Petro's perspective that a "clan of pedophiles" seeks to destroy democracy.

Jason Crow describes being haunted by his military experience that echoes Steve Earle's song "Rich Man's War" with the words: "Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man's war."

Steve Earle is possibly one of the most aware and astute songwriters of all time. He is a master storyteller of both history and present. It stuns how so few even know who he is aside from "Copperhead Road". Listen to "Gulf of Mexico", "Johnny Come Lately", "Ben McCulloch", "Ashes to Ashes", "What's a Simple Man to Do" and others. He is a master at his craft of melding storytelling with song creation.

I couldn't agree with you more, Sharon! My favorite is Steve Earle's rousing "The Revolution Starts Now," more timely than ever with that the title song of his anti-war album. "Warrior" is a moving paen to all sacrificed typically because of "Rich Man's War(s)." Then "Home to Houston" is about the veterans' return home and "The Gringo's Tale" is the story of undercover operatives in Latin America.

You're so right citing his mastery of song creation and storytelling hauntingly relevant in our present-day experience. My daughter saw him July 30th in South Lake Tahoe still speaking truth. I used to think his "F the CC" was too iconoclastic but under the current regime maybe not so much. "The Revolution Starts Now" should be our rallying cry going forward. Thank you for sharing, Kindred Soul!
