I think the Dems should shun labels like DSA and "socialist," and instead pivot to what the Dems stand for on the ISSUES whenever asked if they agree with the DSA "platform," which is absurd and strategically unwise. Another answer I'd like to see when Dems are asked such questions: "Define 'socialist.' " I think it would leave your average maggot speechless because they don't know what it means.

My understanding is that he’s not a DSA member and that he doesn’t hold any extreme views. Socialist policies are probably supported by the large majority of this forum.
But they should not be framed as "socialist" policies, which is nothing but a trigger word for the Red party. They should be referred to as specific policies needed to address all the bipartisan issues most voters support: data center regulation/moratoriums, AI, social media and crypto regulation, affordable health care for all, tax the rich, bust up the monopolies, incentives to promote affordable housing, clean water, lower utility bills, clean energy, etc.

Democrats better learn how to fight. For too long centrist Dems have been on the defensive, apologizing everytime Republicans accuse them of something. Hell, the party went after Biden because he had a bad debate performance. I seriously could care less that Republicans might be triggered by a word. Socialism isn't the problem. Fascism is. I agree with most of your comments, but think you misunderstood my point. Why walk into the messaging trap of the MAGAs by letting them control the dialog and focus on *their* trigger words while the common ground we share with Americans of both parties gets ignored?
I didn't say we should apologize for anything; my point is we should not let them control the conversation around vague buzz words like "socialism" which the vast majority of Americans don't even know much about. We should focus on what issues they do care about and what candidates propose to do about them. The reason El-Sayed and AOC are good at throwing it back is because that is exactly what they do.
Democrats don't have to say anything, but Republicans and the media are going to bombard them with labels. The ones who are authentic and have a backbone will be fine. Others will not.
