As an Afghan veteran who was left behind after so many promises from the current US government I read this part about allies very differently.I was also told many promises, and we were told America would not forget the people who stood with them. But many of us are still waiting and feeling abandoned.So when I see the US government treating Canada a real longtime ally, with threats and pressure,it honestly does not surprise me anymore.

A government cannot keep asking people and countries to trust America while breaking that trust when it becomes politically convenient.Canada should not have to accept a bad deal just because Washington can put more pressure on them.
