We lost for many reasons but mostly because D’s are allergic to running the long game against 24/7/365 decades long Republican Media narrative. Refusing to refute all the lies and bullshit has cost us numerous elections. Until that changes we’ll continue to lose and country will continue its fall to the Oligarchs.

That’s why I’m hopping and praying that Martin or Wikler becomes the new chairman of the DNC. Their leadership and plan for messaging is something that Ds desperately need to start winning again.

I've felt this for a long time.

Well deserved Michael J Fox. Can't help but think of that POS Limbaugh though getting one after he made fun of Fox's Parkinsons much like Trump and the disabled NYT reporter.

There are so many blood pressure raising things in this post that I hardly know where to start .

There have been so many of us yelling that the Emperor " has no clothes on, but more of us just turned away.

One of the things that makes me the most insane is that Trump and his entire family has financially benefited from his reign of terror. The indignity of a president-elect, former president, or whatever the fuck we want to call him, selling shoes, trading cards, bit coin, BIBLES (May God smote him) is beyong anything we've ever seen, anywhere.

Now they're making a movie about Melania!! Seriously, who gives a shit about her. That is as disgusting as the Bibles.

Thank you, Ron, for keeping us informed. There is so much going on behind the scenes that it is impossible for the average person to keep up.

I'm going to go take my medication now-or drink-I'm not sure which.

Ben Holstrom's avatar

If the medication is cannabis, Choose the medication. And you are so correct -- who gives a fuck About Melania? She's just a brooding Gold digger Who's Another grifter who has contempt and loathing for americans and ourl culture. It's Depressing that she's gonna be the first lady.

0MG may all the powers in the multI- UNIVERSES bless RON F for this truly stellar, outstanding and amazing commentary! May you have infinite peace. We love.

You Ron

You are the reason I signed up with Meidas Touch and now I have access to all the content. I was a loyal MSNBC consumer of news. I now only watch Deadline White House with Nicole Wallace. I now get most of my news from Substack and BBC.

I was a 5 day a week MSNBC viewer as well, started every day with Joe and Mika. No more, I can't stand to look at them.

They should just give the time slot to Johnathan Lamere and be done with Joe and Mika.

I will never look at them again without thinking, "They went and kissed the ring, they kissed the ring."

I don't want to see them any more.

And because I don't have it on in the morning, it never really comes on throughout the day. Sorry Nicole. Sorry Lawrence.

Jacquelyn Suter's avatar

Olderwoman, agree. I also abandoned Joe/Mika. Must say though, that currently on MSNBC, I think highly of Joy Reid, Alex Wagner, of course Nicolle Wallace, and the star of it all -- Lawrence O'Donnell, the closest thing we have now to Walter Cronkite.

Kevin Robbins's avatar

I might suggest listening to podcasts. I like those and I can do other stuff while I listen. I can’t give up Lawrence and Chris Hayes.

olderwoman's avatar

I used to listen to many hosts podcasts.

I just got away MSNBC got away from it after the election and THEN when Joe & Mika went to Mar a lardo, that just put a stink on the whole network, except for my Monday Night Rachel show, that i never miss.

You know who I like less and less, and I really used to like him a lot.

Ari Mehlbach. He brought on Stormy Daniel's ex lawyer, the one in prison, he had him call in from prison and attacked Michael Cohen. It was done strictly for ratings, I lost all respect for Arie after that. I watched that show live. I like Katie Phang better than Arie.

Robert Saeger's avatar

I agree with you.

I have had the same exact experience.

Nicolle Wallace is all I watch now on MSNBC.

My actions mirror yours. MSNBc is dead to me. I make an occasional exception for a very few commentators. My info comes from these posts.

Virginia Foxx isn't tougher than a $2.00 steak...she's deader than a 80-year-old Zombie corpse! How the Hell can her district put that old bag back in over and over? She's as big of a do-nothing as our 5th District Mis-Representative Bob Latta!

Lol, good one, spot on with your description of her. 👍 Thanks for giving me my daily dose of laughter 🤭 😂😂

On James Carville comment: I’m tired of hearing everybody’s theory on why we lost the election. Plain and simple, the American electorate is just dumb, lazy and apathetic. They would rather watch UFC than Frontline, listen to Joe Rogan rather than Rachel Maddow. They don’t understand government or how it works. And I don’t know how you change that in today’s media environment. 🙁

“… Sen Jim Banks (R-IN) said on CNN that Fox host Pete Hegseth is more qualified than General Lloyd Austin to be Secretary of Defense because Austin is “too woke.” “

Hegseth is not qualified to run DoD. Not because of his many moral failings, but because he has A) never run anything that large and complicated, and B) because his record running veterans groups is lousy.

Bob's avatar

And, to further clarify, Hegseth’s moral failings are the easy target, but the wrong target. The GOP has decided that moral failings are actually a qualifying attribute (see, Trump, Donald J., etc.). The excuse that he will have qualified people below him? Nope. He’s qualified to be the middle manager of an already successful division of some company, in which his team’s competence and his bosses’ oversight will prevent any serious damage.

“ … Nancy Mace noted that Tim Scott is now officially the longest serving Black US Senator. She also revealed that they go to the same church and “he was the first person to ever lay hands on me and pray over me.””

Was he trying to cure her stupidity?

"Schiff was asked by NBC about Trump pardoning J6 defendants: “If the president goes forward with pardoning vast numbers of people involved in January 6 violence, he will begin his new administration the way he ended his last administration, and that is by celebrating violence against our democracy.”"

I voted for Katie Porter in the California Senate primary, because this is what I see with Adam Schiff. Wise words, no action. This pontificating does nothing to help us

We all need Representatives like Katie Porter. ❤️

Thanks for shining a little light on Miller. I’ve always thought that he is even more dangerous because he has managed to stay in the shadows, dictating his evil policies.

Will you keep this up after the inauguration? I'd love it if you did though I'd understand it you didn't.

Ron Filipkowski's avatar

That's the plan. I want to write the best daily column on politics in America and rewrite the rules on how to do this in the social media era of journalism. The format is based actually on Peter Gammons's baseball column in the Boston Globe, which I grew up reading. I thought about taking everything I see every day across a big number of platforms and putting into a similar format as Peter's, which was fast paced, long, and packed with information and facts, but also rumors, opinion and some humor. Hopefully, it is different than anything else out there - I think it is - because there is nothing I hate more than being unoriginal.

Beth Skowvron's avatar

Ron, your daily column is BY FAR the best fast-paced, just long enough, info/rumor/opinion/humor packed daily read PERIOD. Bar none. Meidas Mighty!

Bob's avatar

As a longtime newspaper editor, I’m not a huge fan of the 3-dot column format, but you’re doing it well and as it should be. Keep it up, and if the period key wears out, use round bullets.

Robert Saeger's avatar

You are doing an outstanding job Ron.

I look forward to each and every article you write.

You are the only bright spot in the news these days.

olderwoman's avatar

Ron, now that I see you are reading comments I have a chance to say this one more time and at least I know you will see it.

Offer a subscription for $15 a month.

I only subscribe for $10 a month, I probably will not do $20 and above, but I would do $15.

It is a way to earn a little bit extra of revenue.

When I signed up if I remember right it was $10, $25, +

Speaking of the inauguration, do you really think that it should be done out of the sight of the people? Maybe I misread or misunderstood what you said you agreed to.
