Most European countries aren't actually 'socialist'. They have a social contract with their citizens in specific areas, but so what? The UK has had long periods of conservative rule - would you call the Tory Party socialist?! They could teach the Greedy Oligarchs and Pedos a few things about screwing over their constituents but they still have the NHS, public education and welfare provisions

They would all say that Democratic Socialism best defines what their country is. The two major cornerstones are universal healthcare and mostly free college. They have independent corporations and small businesses. They have wealthy people. By almost any measurement you would choose, they are better than we are, except taxation. I have yet to hear one of them complain about taxes, including my daughter who has lived in France since 2002, is married to a Frenchman and has two boys. I would also say that most so-called conservatives in European countries, other than far-right factions, are not conservative by US standards. Middle of the road here, maybe. None of those so-called conservatives are calling for the repeal of universal healthcare or free college. They would never win if they did.
