I have seen claims the shooter was not on the floor the event was being held, but on the floor above the event. Whatever the case, it is disturbing to hear that there were no secure checkpoints set up at some distance from the event. People invited to the event were simply able to flash their tickets to get into the event. There was a secure checkpoint, but it was rather close to the venue.

My residential state of Ohio is currently under a hostile takeover by the Republican Party, which has gerrymandered the state, conquered the Senate, General Assembly, the state Supreme Court, the executive and statewide offices. Our outgoing Secretary of State, Frank La Rose, handed over our voter database to Trump.

Not likely to happen in CA; Dems have a supermajority in both state house and senate legislatures and are killing us with Prop 13 efforts to snuff out property owners' protections against raising property taxes: mine is over $6 grand a year now, up from $2500 in 2000.
