Fuck frump and his regime! I'm exhausted with the: "Call your congressman...." bullshit. It's just like "thoughts & prayers!" After a school shooting. Enough of this shit!!! Let's fucking END this!!!! If not, shut the fuck up! When the HELL are we going to stand up?!?!?!

Bee kind's avatar

We (myself included) the people have been standing up! The REAL question is, when are the Republicans in Congress going to grow some BALLS and stand up and IMPEACH this madman and remove his entire administration?!!!

Now every US citizen’s life is at risk.

Deli Lanoux's avatar

Imagine how many of us are thinking and saying the same thing. But no one listens. They just keep making excuses. It's as if they're under a terrible spell.

Rita Parker's avatar

Republicans will never stand up to Trump. It would be nice if Democratic leadership grew a pair, but I don't see that happening either. God bless AOC for calling for impeachment and a few others calling it out. But old guard Democrats like Chuck Schumer are so afraid of offending Jewish organizations they don't do anything.

Connie Larsen's avatar

AOC n Bernie n Jasmine, Maxwell n a few others need to really start kicking ass. This is not about religion. This about stopping an insurrection and taking away the rights we have worked for 250 yrs.

The Republican congress are not "strongmen"…they’re weak clinging to power because they’re terrified of their irrelevance.

The Cowardice of "Winning at All Costs”

They’ve twisted “never surrender” into “never admit you’re wrong"….even if it means:

Abandoning the Constitution they swore to defend.

Betraying military veterans.

Letting a con man turn their party into a personality cult.

Rymes1's avatar

Democrats have pretty much said they wouldn't have the votes to bring impeachment to the floor, much less impeach!

Kathy McLain's avatar

I think whatever the results they have to try; otherwise it's signaling their weakness to their followers who won't be happy with yet another failure to at least attempt to hold him accountable for his actions. We're watching and the people want action, not excuses. As it stands now the other side thinks and pretty much does anything the want knowing the opposition is to weak to do anything about it. Are you weak, is that what you're telling Americans?

Lori LeClaire's avatar

Agree. Bring it up over and over every day. Stop this madness. The US regimes is a bunch of thieves.

Linda Morway's avatar

They have their bunkers, complete with immigrant servants. They will be fine and that despicable Noem will be with them.

Chazxx's avatar

In more ways than one, for some of us!!

Julie Wagner's avatar

Agreed! Where's our leadership? What's the strategy? We resist, we protest, we make calls...NOW WHAT?

DEMO-GAL's avatar

Julie….agree with your comment. I believe all we have left is to put our lips between our legs and kiss our a—goodbye.

Judy Cross's avatar

I 100% don't agree with you. I will not kiss anyone's ass, even my own. I will fight in any way that I can until we beat this orange turd and get our country back. Would I like to roll over and go to sleep and not have to deal with this mess? You're damn right I would, but I know what our country was like, not what it is. It's worth fighting for - for ourselves, our children, grandchildren and future generations. We need to fight, regain and rebuild.

Oaktown's avatar

This is a line for the ages: "I will not kiss anyone's ass, even my own."

Cheers for your spunk and tenacity. What other choice to we have? And bad as everything looks now, I'm a teeny weeny bit encouraged by the number of repugs Ron quoted who seem to grasp the gravity of what our mad and thoughtless tyrant has done. Let the infighting begin.

Rita Parker's avatar

Judy is right. And because so many of us have been calling, writing, protesting and yelling, people - governors, independent media and members of congress are stepping up. Pelosi said you can accomplish anything once the populace is behind it. Sentiment is rising against Trump's Gestapo goons. Once the Dodgers got criticized, they donated a million dollars to immigrant causes. This war will be won in small steps, not huge ones.

Oaktown's avatar

Get up, stand up

Stand up for your rights

Get up, stand up,

Don't give up the fight

Judy Cross's avatar

I totally agree. It is a start with the infighting and I believe it might just be in the beginning stages. I know that we must never give up. That would make us as bad as them. We are fighting for our country against those that are trying to take it away. We can't let that happen.

Connie Larsen's avatar

Keenan Kline's avatar

This is what you get when you lose elections and are out of power. It just is. Without the power of the elected majority, you have no ability to stop this madness.

Kathy H's avatar

If they have NO ability, what are we paying them to take up space for? Wouldn't that mean this is a single party regime, isn't our system designed to prevent exactly that, an overwhelming imbalance of power?

Keenan Kline's avatar

I probably shouldn't have said "no ability". They can drag their feet, delay, etc. but when it comes to compromise and the vote, we lose. I'm not a scholar of the founders' thinking, but I'm petty sure that they wrote the constitution understanding this danger and basing their actions on mans' better instincts. Our system operated by the rules and perverted by ignorant, greedy, sometimes evil people.

Thanks.

I 100 percent agree with you! I’ve been calling and writing Senators and Congressmen since he was inaugurated. I only receive emails (very few at that) from them saying we agree with you and we are trying. It’s not enough and I feel I have wasted my time!

Colleen McGloughlin's avatar

Please don’t normalize that statement/threat. It can have the effect that people give up and we are not allowed to give up.

I mean no offense to you.

Connie Larsen's avatar

You are so right! We have to fight!

Beth Witrogen's avatar

No worries -- I wasn't meaning to normalize it, but I think we cannot assume anything at this point because the chaos continues to escalate. And what he has promised to do is being enabled by his minions.

Definitely we keep up the protests and do everything we can in every way possible, including getting creative in local elections!

I don't trust anything coming out of the WH and certainly Miller & Vought & others who are putting the project into manifestation, which includes eliminating free and fair elections.

I think it's critical to hold faith but also consider the worst in this playbook so that we can take preparations seriously.

Absolutely we fight and I have been doing so for most of my 76 years. Glad to be with you and all the others here in this community of truth warriors.

Thank you for your service, you likely graduated in the same year that my high school class got drafted. I can't imagine how you are feeling today, having given SO much, and now ... this.

It is time to pass the mantle and hope that younger people will indeed stand up and change this direction. We are still fighting for freedoms in our 70s, and deserve respect. It ain't easy to be doing this again 50+ years later because of domestic and not foreign fascism.

Amen. All we fought for has come undone. Brought to you by obscene fat cat crooks, frauds and con men, Mark F*ckerberg, Google, Thiel, Musk, et al, all of whom no doubt have bunkers

I'm with Bob Dylan, who wrote this in 1963, when people were building bomb shelters post WWII:

[Verse 1]

I will not go down under the ground

’Cause somebody tells me that death’s coming 'round

And I will not carry myself down to die

When I go to my grave my head will be high

[Refrain]

Let me die in my footsteps

Before I go down under the ground

[Verse 2]

There’s been rumors of war and wars that have been

The meaning of life has been lost in the wind

And some people thinking that the end is close by

’Stead of learning to live they are learning to die

[Refrain]

Let me die in my footsteps

Before I go down under the ground

[Verse 3]

I don’t know if I’m smart but I think I can see

When someone is pulling the wool over me

And if this war comes and death’s all around

Let me die on this land ’fore I die underground

The "No Kings" Protests were incredibly successful. Trump's military parade was a bust. And over 75 million of us voted for Harris. Beyond that there is a growing schism in Maga. So we're not dead and as long as we continue, as regular people, to fight these fascists the country remains.

… SecDef Pete Hegseth was also at the press conference, and he spent most of his time praising Trump’s genius: “The operation that President Trump planned was bold and brilliant. Many presidents have dreamed of delivering the final blow to Iran’s nuclear program, and none could until President Trump. I want to give congratulations to our Commander-in-Chief. It was an honor to watch him lead last night.”

I wonder if Hegseth knows the difference between being a brown-nose and a $hit-head?

The end game is the Christian Nationalist dictatorship. If Thiel got his way, he’d use Curtis Yarvin’s blueprint: A monarchy with a leader chosen by the largest “shareholders,” who would be the final word on all things. It’s the unitary executive taken to extremes. No elections, no courts.

Oaktown's avatar

Don't forget Sam Altman, a true sociopath. Don't believe me? Read "Empire of AI". And he's got both dems (i.e., Schumer) and repugs wrapped around his little finger.

I’m reading a book about that crowd and others:

“More Everything Forever: AI Overlords, Space Empires, and Silicon Valley's Crusade to Control the Fate of Humanity”

The author is a science writer with a doctorate in astrophysics. Altman doesn’t come off as being all that brilliant, along with Ray Kurzweil and other Singularity believers. I highly recommend it.

Cheeto Uses Iran Attack to Bail Out of Domestic Issues

Orange Cheeto leaned into the Israeli Iran Conflict with his strongman mentality and initiated a bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities In a way with Israel having weakened the Iranian air defense with a large bombing campaign Cheeto decided that the risk would not be high to move ahead and help Netanyahu "finish the job" with the nuclear facility bombing The other factor is that Cheeto is taking domestic hits at home with his strongman immigration policies with losses in court so the “distract card” was played

Now we as a nation is hoping that this is it Cheeto elected to ignore the national intelligence community that Iran has enough enriched uranium to create an atomic bomb but did not have a bomb https://bit.ly/3GaRbBz This US attack will set back the Iranian uranium program for a year but not deter But Iran could have removed the enriched uranium to another secure site before the bombing occurred

Cheeto hopes that this is a one off but the Iranians are in this for the long haul This maybe another Iraq "weapons of mass destruction" except no one can prove that Cheeto was wrong that Iran had the bomb based on its enriched uranium stores But one thing is clear that Cheeto is going to go full bore on Iran hence America is at war

2) Said bro outed his pedophilia in the Epstein files

3) His military parade showed impotence

4) G7's real leaders snubbed him

5) He had to erect long poles on the WH lawn

6) No Kings was a smashing success.

Nothing will ever satisfy this psychopathic narcissist and his sycophants. So McDonald has to prove to the world that he's a strongman, biggest balls on the planet, look at meeeeee!

Given the humiliation and emasculation he suffered at his birthday party pity parade, I wouldn't be surprised if this is in some part revenge on the military for not giving him the full respect he has never earned but believes he deserves. Drag us into a war that will last years or even decades, let our soldiers suffer for his humiliation.

SFGal's avatar

I agree with that evaluation and have seen it expressed in other venues by numerous observers. He doesn't care about service personnel. My greatest fear is that having pervasively denigrated the military for so long he'll reinstitute the draft to increase the numbers of fading enlistments, many failing to submit to his awesome fealty.

Oaktown's avatar

If he reinstates the draft, it might lead to huge protests and resistance; it certainly helped end the war against Vietnam. People tend to pay more attention when their OWN life is at risk at the hands of chicken-hawk war mongers, especially if they didn't volunteer for military service.

"No women. No People of color. Straight white married conservative men. This isn't DEI. This is your time to shine bro. It's your job to be proud, boys."

Susan Meeker-Lowry's avatar

Seriously? Those actions are doing nothing. We need way more options than those.

Megan Rothery's avatar

So what do you suggest? I’d rather be extremely loud while waiting for whatever comes next.

I don’t think we’ll see many big waves (like a major MAGA Congress member changing their opinions), however I think we can cause little ripples. I’m thinking staff members who hear the same thing over and over via voicemail, phone calls, letter after letter, email after email - maybe they’ll be a little more receptive each time they hear from us. Maybe they’ll talk more about our talking points to friends and family, maybeeee they’ll vote differently (if we get to vote again). I think we can cause ripples to push news organizations to be more honest and maybe even a bit accusatory about what’s happening. As a collective, our volume matters. And, at the end of the day, if we just annoy and overwhelm some staffers working for people hurting the average American, I’m ok with that too 🙃

Michael O'Neill's avatar

Be extremely loud and wait. That's a perfect summation of what Democratic leadership has been doing since January. Meanwhile, Trump has dismantled our federal government, kidnapped and disappeared thousands of people, cut off foreign aid while angering all our allies and now, started a war with Iran. If the Democrats don't bring impeachment charges first thing Monday morning, it will be too late to stop Trump's evil regime from destroying this country.

Susan Meeker-Lowry's avatar

Even if they do bring impeachment charges, they won’t stick. But that doesn’t mean they should sit on their hands like they are now. I see them talking. A few are doing stuff, but it’s way in the minority.

Deli Lanoux's avatar

Reminds me of 8th-grade science class. Mr. Beimler's big, black snake ate the rat and was so lethargic that it seemed catatonic. Politicians are so full of Trump that they've been rendered inept.

Susan Meeker-Lowry's avatar

Our congress people need to ACT. DO. WITH PASSION. Some, a very few, are. The fact is, they are not going to change their demeanor because we email, call, etc. Not that we shouldn’t do that. I’m just saying it is not working, and we need to find other actions to take.

I agree we need to go bigger, but you don’t know how it’s helping at a smaller level, or just annoying people because we’re flooding voicemails, phone lines, emails, etc. I think we need to do all of it. But you don’t have to.

Whoever said that Trump acts impulsively and never considers the long-term really hit the nail on the head. Iran is not going to take this lying down. I don't know what their military capabilities are, but I feel certain our troops stationed in the region are all at grave risk. Pray for them and our country.
