Thursday Afternoon News Updates as Trump Goes Silent - 11/13/25

Catch up on the latest

By Ben Meiselas

Donald Trump has gone uncharacteristically silent. He’s expected to speak shortly, but at this point, nearly a full day has passed without a single social media post from him, an extraordinary lull for someone who typically floods his Truth social feed with deflections, rage, and lies. His last message, blaming Democrats for what he calls “the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax” and muttering about the shutdown, reeks of desperation. But he can’t escape the reality. the dam has broken, the truth is pouring out, and the Trump operation is scrambling behind the scenes as more damning emails from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate are expected to drop.

The latest tranche, roughly 20,000 emails, has already revealed a portrait of Donald Trump that is far darker, more entangled, and more aware of Epstein’s crimes than the sanitized fiction he spent years spinning. Among the most chilling pieces of correspondence is an email Epstein’s own brother sent: a photo of Trump labeled with a blunt warning about trusting him around young girls. These are the private exchanges among men who ran a child sex trafficking operation, men who, according to the emails, viewed Trump as part of their orbit and someone who “knew everything.”

The American public seems to understand the gravity. Trump’s approval on the Epstein matter is underwater by nearly forty points in a sea of red polling numbers. Even on issues he once considered core to his political identity, immigration, tariffs, the economy, he is now deeply out of favor with voters. But nothing sinks him faster than the truth emerging from Epstein’s digital archive. It is devastating for him, and it is only the beginning.

At the same time, Trump and his allies are losing the confidence of Americans on virtually every policy issue. New polling from Navigator shows overwhelming majorities blaming Republicans, not Democrats, for rising health care premiums, higher costs, and surging electricity prices. These failures compound an economic picture that is deteriorating rapidly, with sectors like tourism now collapsing under Trump’s volatile and reckless rhetoric. His unhinged talk of “conquering Canada” has triggered a ten-month decline in Canadian travel to the United States, costing the U.S. tens of billions of dollars. Major destinations like Las Vegas and key resort regions are being battered as Canadians pull their money, sell properties, and avoid a country whose leader openly fantasizes about annexing their homeland and placing people in camps.

Inside the government, the rot is even more alarming. Trump’s own top economic advisor is now admitting publicly that the administration may never again produce reliable inflation or employment data because Trump has hollowed out the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Critical surveys simply aren’t being conducted. Instead, the regime is attempting to “concoct” numbers (their own words), an authoritarian tactic meant to replace empirical facts with political fiction.

And still, the Epstein matter remains the center of Trump’s panic. The contrast between the documents provided to the House Oversight Committee by the Epstein estate and those withheld by Trump’s Department of Justice is impossible to ignore. The DOJ delivered outdated press releases and irrelevant clutter, while the estate delivered the truth: emails indicating Trump was fully aware of Epstein’s crimes and enmeshed in his world. The government clearly has the same damaging documents, yet failed to release them. That deliberate omission speaks volumes about the lengths Trump’s allies were willing to go to protect him.

Meanwhile, some of Trump’s personal lawyers and loyalists, now in positions of power, are revealing their own complicity through defensive outbursts and telling admissions. Their responses only reinforce what these emails show. Trump was not a peripheral figure. He was central, knowledgeable, and protected at every step.

This is a moment of reckoning. A president once shielded by bluster, threats, and a captured party is now boxed in by a paper trail he cannot spin away and a public that no longer buys the lies he repeats. The truth is surfacing. The polls are collapsing. The silence is deafening.
