Top Oversight Dem Demands Hearings for Epstein Victims Amid Trump Cover-Up

MAGA Republicans are blocking victims, protecting Ghislaine Maxwell, and keeping Trump’s name out of the files. Rep. Robert Garcia joined me to discuss it all.

When MAGA Republicans claim they “want transparency,” they’re lying through their teeth. Their claims of “transparency” would be pure comedy if these issues weren’t so serious.

I sat down with Congressman Robert Garcia, the ranking Democrat and top member of the House Oversight Committee, to cut through the gaslighting and expose exactly how Donald Trump’s allies in Congress are working to bury the Epstein files.

We’re talking about files that we now know contain Donald Trump’s name repeatedly. Instead of releasing them, the Trump regime assigned over 1,000 FBI agents and DOJ lawyers to comb through the evidence, redact Trump’s references, and shield him from accountability. Months later, the public has seen nothing but excuses.

Meanwhile, Trump’s personal lawyer-turned-Deputy Attorney General, Todd Blanche, engineered a sweetheart deal to move convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell to a cushy minimum-security facility in Texas—light years away from the maximum-security environment she should be in. This isn’t justice; it’s protection for a criminal who has hurt countless young women and girls.

Congressman Garcia made it clear: the GOP’s “investigation” is a sham. They skipped subpoenaing key players like Alex Acosta, Trump’s Labor Secretary who brokered Epstein’s infamous non-prosecution deal, and they’ve delayed Maxwell’s deposition to dodge tough questions. Even worse, they’ve entertained outrageous demands from Maxwell’s lawyers, like giving her the questions in advance and letting her plead the Fifth without consequence.

While MAGA leaders like James Comer and Mike Johnson run cover for Trump, Garcia and the Democrats on Oversight are pushing in the opposite direction. They want the victims heard, their identities protected, and every perpetrator, no matter their political power, exposed. Garcia told me he’s already begun laying the groundwork for hearings where victims can share their stories on their terms, without retraumatization, and with every safeguard possible. His message to survivors was clear: the door is open, and the committee will work with you to control what is public and protect what you want private.

Trump campaigned on “releasing the Epstein files” but has done the exact opposite. MAGA Republicans are doing his dirty work to cover for Trump’s activities with Jeffrey Epstein, hoping the public forgets. We won’t. This fight is about justice for the victims and shining light on the powerful people who enabled one of the most vile criminal enterprises in modern history. And as Congressman Garcia made clear: if they think they can run out the clock, they’re wrong. We’re not letting this story go away.
