So many good ones. Hope the orange felon saw the one of the little kid mocking his fake medical report.

AAA M's avatar

The doctor who put those medical "facts" out should have his license taken off him.

Expand full comment
Judy Cross's avatar

tRump probably wrote the report himself. To say that he passed 30 out of 30 on the cognitive test was utter BS. We have all seen him stumbling with his words, and actions. Saw him leave the WH the other day and he sure seemed to have difficulty walking. He has worse brain action than Biden did. With what he is doing to the country, does anyone believe his results of his physical. I say he made the doctor write that report with threat or he wrote it himself. Why does the Senate want a demented man to run the country? Are they all demented, too and think that this is normal?

The cognitive tests are not an IQ test. They are supposed to detect clear evidence of some kind of mental deterioration. An eight year old could probably get a perfect score.

Cheryl Thomas's avatar

Those cognitive tests are a joke. My landlord passed several of them during the past few years, and his family accepted that he was mentally fine, even though I've all but been screaming for years that he has dementia. Finally, only two months ago, he had deteriorated so badly that he has been in medical facilities ever since, is never coming home, and one of his doctors has advised the family that his dementia is advanced...

Yeah. I swear my nana had early onset in her 30’s!! She’s always been flighty/quirky. She was diagnosed with mild impairments for a decade before she fell into a brain malfunction and lost her ability to talk/ walk. They labeled her mild…. Never moderate until her last two years. It must take a million points of contention before they throw out a moderate to severe diagnosis. I wonder if the insurance companies have something to do with it.

Expand full comment
Cheryl Thomas's avatar

In the case of my landlord, no doctors were involved until recently. So, insurance coverage wasn't an issue, either (Medicare is his only medical coverage). The cognitive tests were given by social workers from the local Adult Protective Services agency. Apparently, my landlord's family was all too willing to accept the results of those stupid tests, and to remain in denial of the obvious problem.

That's the thing though. Trump is showing clear evidence of rapidly advancing cognitive decline. An 8-year-old WOULD get a perfect score because an 8-year-old's brain is firing on all cylinders. Trump is at the point where he obviously forgets what question he was asked halfway through his answer, so just starts talking in circles (also without ever ending the sentence). His balance is going - I can think of multiple examples but the most recent one I saw was him being interviewed on Air Force One. Every reporter holding a camera is standing perfectly still; Trump is holding onto the door frame and is STILL swaying. He can't hold a cup or a glass in one hand and STILL needs a straw to get the liquid into his mouth. He's losing the ability to recall simple words partway through and ends up replacing the syllable he can't recall with a nonsense syllable. "Hamburder." "Chriscmas." There's more. He was always obsessed with certain words, repeating them to the point of ridiculousness, but it's become so much worse recently. Everything is "beautiful". He's stuck on "groceries" ("a bag with a bunch of different things in it"? Really, Donald? You have to define "groceries" for the nation and can't even do it correctly?). He confused Nancy Pelosi and Nikki Haley on 40 separate occasions in public.

Last week, 300 neurologists who specialize in dementia wrote a public letter listing over 300 examples of Trump's advancing cognitive decline. Their collective conclusion is that he's gotten to the point where he'll decline faster and faster from this point forward - and since he's in denial about it, he's not doing any of the things that help slow the progression of his dementia. In no more than two years, my honest belief is that he'll be unable to recognize his own cabinet members about half the time. They won't be able to hide it much longer. They aren't successfully hiding it now. He's in worse shape than Reagan was in his second term - and if he doesn't get impeached, he has over three and a half years to go.

Because the demented man isn’t. Steven Miller and the rest of project 2025 authors are. Trump gets so excited about writing his name with a sharpie he’s satisfied to let them have the decision making part. It’s like giving a toddler a coloring book and crayons.

He isn’t actually in charge, though, demented as he is. Musk and the

Project 2025 boys are running the show. That’s why congressional republicans are doing nothing. They all want this dictatorship and have been working for this since Reagan. (See Heritage Foundation who picked all of the conservative justices and wrote Proj 2025). I don’t see how this ends without a massive fight.

There could be MAGA, or at least hard-core conservatives, at AMA but my experience with physicians is that they are highly intelligent or at least have disciplined learning skills. The other issue (which I consider a problem) is that they are so deeply involved in their profession that they really have no time or patience for much involvement in politics (until it affects their grant funding). Having been peripherally involved in the practice and teaching of medicine, I consider the fact that he could have fake credientials highly likely because, as skeevy as that sounds, it does happen. It would be good to expose that should it be the case. Fake credentials are fraud and frowned upon in general (but would make that doctor a logical choice for Trump).

Words on cardboard. Ink on skin. Messages scrawled at the edge of exhaustion and courage.

These signs weren’t just clever—they were spells. Streetlit declarations, torn from bedrooms and dorm rooms and aching hearts. Each one a refusal. Each one a reminder: language is still a weapon, still a balm.

What happens when protest becomes poetry? When resistance becomes ritual?

In a world trying to erase voices, these signs screamed back with grace, grit, and fire.

What did you see that stayed with you?

Still marching, still writing, still becoming ♾️

Your turn now.

I went to my first protest yesterday. I’m 80 and on BP meds. and have trouble walking. I’m so glad I went& next time would take a folding chair& maybe some water. I met women older & more experienced in attending protests than I. I came home feeling that I’d been to a party & look forward to the next one. Also felt good that I stood up with my sign & publicly declared my contempt for Trxmp!

Gretchen, on the hands off protest I had a chair and it was great.

Yesterday no chair, and I was tired.

We left just maybe 10 minutes early but I was done.

Use my sign hack.

Use duck tape and tape a Swiffer Mop to the back of your sign.

The mop head keeps the sign up firm and gives a nice handle to hold. Easier than using 2 hands to hold up your sign. Once you come home jsut rip the tape off and you have your Swiffer Mop again.

You are such an inspiration!!!! While I am thinking about maybe attending a protest, I have to wonder if it makes sense for me to spend the close to $100 to go (gas, probably parking, stuff I'd need to physically be able to go) or to donate that money to someone or some organization.

Expand full comment
Gretchen Getsinger's avatar

If it’s physicallly & financially difficult for you to show up in person I suggest a donation. I was able to go in person with the help of my sister & her husband. I usually donate to the porta-potty fund for marches/ demonstrations. The one on Saturday was a mile from my home & we parked in a shopping mall parking lot (free). The wonderful part was being with like-minded people; the energy was incredible.
