It is way past the time that the US Supreme Court needs to seriously consider an immediate termination of THEIR action of "granting" immunity to the current US President for his actions while in his current position.
When will they finally come out into the daylight, and hopefully see how their "Immunity" decision might be wreaking havoc on the US Constitution as well as on the US voters. Maybe.... just maybe....they'll see how much damage and impact their "immunity" ruling is - and continues to -- negatively impact our country and its people.
Kira, as much as the immunity decision bothers me, I'm more concerned with the current Republican majority in Congress not doing their job. They have the ability, with oversight power, the purse, and separation of powers, to really shut all this nonsense down, but obviously they're not. Things will change after the midterms. We all need to stay focused, register, and vote.
What's interesting, Connie, is that for the most part we already have the laws to put a stop to all the nonsense, misconduct, and illegal activity that's happening. It takes Congress and a Department of Justice, along with an FBI, to investigate and enforce those laws. That's the problem right now. Yes, there are some areas where we need to modify and even write new laws when it comes to, conflicts of interest, profiting off of an elected office and trading stocks while in Congress or in the Oval Office. I think we'll get there after the midterms.

The article was written as a suggestion. I'd like to see it happen, but what's interesting is this concept was actually brought up this week with a bill being proposed to Congress. The first step is conversation, and then action, along with momentum, starts to follow. I'll never give up on trying to improve the process and improve the system and make things better for everyone.
It sure feels that way, doesn't it, Dawn? The good news is we're winning more cases, substantially more cases, than losing. After November, we'll start to right the wrongs and get things straightened out. It's not going to be easy, but we will get it done.

Economic disengagement can be a powerful tool, but I'm not convinced the average American voter appreciates the danger we're all exposed to such that it reaches a level where they'll cancel their Disney subscription or stop shopping on Amazon, as a means of protest. Don't get me wrong. I completely understand where you're coming from, but I just think too many Americans are placing convenience over accountability.
Those in the Resistance need to be thinking beyond the midterms.
Most Americans disapprove of His Royal Heinous, but they are looking for an easy solution. One that will not require even a small sacrifice on their part, or any disruption to their life.
They are putting too much faith in what the midterms will do. The midterms may have a beneficial psychologic effect but in reality the outcome will have little or no practical effect, unless the Dems can get a 2/3 majority in the house and senate, which they won’t. They will not be able to undo anything His Royal Heinous has done, or pass new legislation, because of his veto power.
There will be investigations if the Dems take the House, but to what end. There will be no cooperation and HRH will pardon all perpetrators, and they know it.
They will impeach HRH, but we’ve seen that movie twice before. Convicted in the senate and removed from office? We can only hope, but hope is not a strategy.
He will continue to rule by “National Emergency“ and Executive Orders and almost surely the Supreme Court will allow it.
The greatest danger in all this is that it will appear that something beneficial is happening. The majority of people will believe the system is working. After about a year they will realize that nothing is changing. Then they will think, Oh well, he’ll be gone after the election next year.
Or will he? It took the Hungarians 16 years to get rid of Orban, and the Project 2025 people will certainly not make the same mistakes that Orban did.
The solution is mass non-cooperation and economic warfare.

We will have to disagree on the PRACTICAL benefit of the midterms. The old rules do not apply. Now, there are no rules. Only what His Royal Heinous decrees.
They absolutely are, and they need to be educated about where this fascist takeover is going and the necessity to stop it peacefully as soon as possible.
I agree with you. When executive power becomes too strong and Congress stays silent, ordinary people are the ones who suffer. The Constitution is not only a document for politicians; it is supposed to protect everyone. I also believe citizens have a responsibility to speak up, vote, and demand accountability. We cannot expect democracy to protect itself if people stay silent while the government goes too far
The key is to remove what he and his enablers are saying and doing. It doesn't happen from being mad or writing posts like this. It happens from registering and voting. Once we have a new majority in Congress, we can use oversight and the power of the purse to rein in and even stop a lot of the misguided conduct we're watching almost on a daily basis. The key is to take the levers out of his hands and put it into the hands of the American people.

My understanding is that Trump justified these attacks by asserting that fentanyl kills Americans, so attacking these boats was justified. However, it's my understanding that fentanyl comes from China, not Venezuela. So even though cocaine, which can be lethal, may comes from Venezuela, isn’t the false assertion of the justification a huge problem? By the way, I understand that we don't even know whether these boats have cocaine or anything illicit, but we have very strong reasons to doubt they have fentanyl.
The inaccurate and false facts and assertions are a huge problem for many Americans. Hopefully that translates into registrations and votes in the midterms. Because here's the deal: it doesn't matter how upset we are. It's how many of us vote.
As the mother of someone who's active duty military (& not an officer), I have a perhaps odd notion that while civilians rely on the military to protect us, we have an obligation to protect them: protect them from bad leaders, from being put in positions where they are breaking international or even moral laws, protect them useless wars that we can guess are unwinnable from the outset, etc. We civilians have failed them in that respect again & again.

If the courts are enforcing constitutional boundaries, how is it that they have not even approached the breaking of the eighth amendment which forbids “cruel and unusual punishment” which is happening throughout our country in ICE detention?! Where is the court on this issue!?
Mark, that's a great question that a lot of people have. Here's the deal. The Eighth Amendment’s ban on cruel and unusual punishment mainly covers criminal punishment after conviction, and ICE detention is treated as civil, so it usually does not apply.
I don't like a felon in the White House. He has had more than his share of due process and has pursued indictive prosecution of cutizens and immigrants.
They should be targeting known criminals and not shopping for undesirable people by skin tone or accents. Racial profiling should be illegal, but the Supreme Court has let us down many times.
Masked, unidentified armed men are not healthy and just plain wrong. They can not be held accountable even when they are filmed killing people.

As much as I'm concerned with Project 2025 and the people behind it, the bottom line is they don't run this country. The American voter does, and we are in a position to significantly neutralize and begin the repair process with this year's midterm elections. I think enough people are listening now. They're feeling the pain, and they're going to show their dissatisfaction at the polls.
Don't buy into the talking points. It does matter, and he's losing in court more than he's winning. It's not going as smoothly for him as he thought it would. He's losing his base. He's losing his momentum. He's losing whatever respect some people once gave him. You're going to see a massive change in power begin after this year's midterm elections.

So, at this point, the rule of law is rendered meaningless.
And particularly in the current “situation”, when SCOTUS essentially granted DJT sweeping “immunity”.

We have to stand tall and be loud. That's the answer to this problem. Registering and voting are the next two steps to getting things fixed.
The president is responsive. He will pass the blame like always. These men were shot for no reason.

And as we well know, unfortunately, the rule of law can only check executive overreach IF congress is willing to actually ENFORCE the law, which they’ve failed to do.
So, at this point, the rule of law is rendered meaningless.
And particularly in the current “situation”, when SCOTUS essentially granted DJT sweeping “immunity”.
This is simply a brief but shocking moment in time. Things will change after the midterms. He'll become a lame duck president. In fact, I think he'll resign before the end of 2027. Is he willing to walk away from that and his other outrageous vanity projects in hopes of establishing him legacy?
