You have got to be kidding me.
We are getting news that Donald Trump accidentally fired staff in charge of overseeing the safety of the United States’ nuclear arsenal. You read that correctly.
In his mad purge of the federal government, delicate genius Trump fired 300 staffers from the National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA) on Thursday whose job it is to make sure our nuclear weapons stockpile remains secure. Then on Friday, once they realized what they had done, the administration scrambled to hire back the people they had just fired.
Of course, an Energy Department spokesperson claimed that only 50 people had been let go, and those were mostly administrative positions.
Sure.
And it gets even worse. The Trump administration is now struggling to even reach the recently fired employees because they can’t find their personal contact information.
“The termination letters for some NNSA probationary employees are being rescinded, but we do not have a good way to get in touch with those personnel,” read an email sent to employees at the NNSA.
This is a mistake so brazen it almost makes you wonder if it was actually a mistake at all, and not something more malicious.
Meanwhile Defense Secretary and former Fox News host with a history of drinking on the job, Pete Hegseth spoke to a NATO conference in Brussels while sipping from a lowball glass that had the Internet abuzz. All this while Donald Trump is doing everything he can to appease Vladimir Putin in the run up to Ukrainian peace talks. These are really the guys that have the nuclear codes? What are we even doing here?
Then as if that wasn’t enough, top secret information was posted to the DOGE website making it available for hackers to steal. Hackers were reportedly calling the DOGE site “a joke of a .gov,” and even left a message on the site saying, “these ‘experts’ left their database open - roro.”
After a Newsweek headline stated that Elon Musk is “bemoaning” that too much information at the federal level is being classified, top intelligence officials were outraged as the DOGE website posted federal personnel data such as head counts and salary details for various departments, including classified data for military and intelligence agencies. Fatal mistake? Malicious intent? I’ll let you decide, MeidasMighty.
And in the midst of the chaos, China calls for U.S. disarmament due to utter incompetence as Donald Trump in a press conference can’t even identify China as part of the BRICS block. Foreign policy 101. Here’s a hint Donald: its the alliance the world’s powers are turning to, with China at the center, because they no longer have any faith in the United States.
