Personally, I don’t care whether any on the “list” are republican OR democrat.

If there’s evidence, prosecute all of them.

Of course. This is not a partisan issue, though Republican “law makers” are behaving as if it is. How does one make child abuse a political issue? Monstrous.

Because while I am sure there are criminals and pedos on both sides of the aisle, republicans KNOW that they are a much higher percentage in these cases.

With one caveat - there should be NO favoritism in how they are judged and sentenced!! I can very well imagine the billionaires getting softer sentences than the less wealthy or those who were not part of the fascist cult. I can also imagine immunity and pardons issued to those same fascist favorites.

Good point. I have a question I don’t expect an answer to, unless there’s an attorney out there who might know the answer: Would POSUS be able to pardon anyone in a case he was a party to?

That is called shielding and it’s the only impeachable offense that was actually discussed in depth by any of the Framers. Madison went into it in some depth in the ratification debates in the Virginia House of Burgesses.

It seems obvious common sense that no one can either pardon him/herself or anyone involved in a case involving the pardoner, yet it's become commonplace to talk about Numbnuts pardoning himself. I simply don't understand this nonsense and nobody has ever given me a good reason to accept it.

I keep pinching myself trying to wake. This song by David Bowie is on repeat in the background:

This is not America

Sha-la-la-la-la

Little piece of you

A little peace in me will die (this is not a miracle)

For this is not America

Blossom fails to bloom this season

Promise not to stare too long (this is not America)

For this is not the miracle

There was a time

A storm that blew so pure

For this could be the biggest sky

And I could have the faintest idea

For this is not America

Sha-la-la-la-la

Sha-la-la-la-la

Sha-la-la-la-la

This is not America (no)

This is not

Sha-la-la-la-la

Showman melting from the inside

Falcon spirals to the ground (this could be the biggest sky)

So bloody red tomorrows' clouds

A little piece of you

A little peace in me will die (this could be a miracle)

For this is not America

There was a time

A wind that blew so young

For this could be the biggest sky

And I could have the faintest idea

For this is not a miracle

Sha-la-la-la-la

Sha-la-la-la-la

Sha-la-la-la-la

This is not America (no)

This is not

Sha-la-la-la

This is not America (no)

This is not

This is not America (no)

This is not

Sha-la-la-la

Public Servant it was probably up for debate whether this was America when this song was written 40 years ago, but there sure as hell ain’t no debate whether this song applies to us today

I don't think it's easy for victims to talk to the press. They'll be run through the mud on the 'net by Trump supporters, recieve death threats, and they'd be reliving their nightmare experiences. It's a lot to ask of women who are trying to move on with their lives. One victim has already died by suicide. If I were in the shoes of these women, I wouldn't talk to the press. Just saying.

Expand full comment
JP4M's avatar

I agree that we should have compassion for the victimized, abused women, and even though we would like to have their help in bringing justice, we must protect them. Getting on with their lives must be a horrific challenge, and we do not want to bring further trauma to them. Maybe some of them have been able to start new lives, and they do not need to have the carpet ripped out from under them. Although I did agree that it could help to interview them, I have changed my mind because I believe their privacy and well-being matters. There already is sufficient proof to fulfill legal steps, I expect, without disrupting the current life status of already traumatized victims and possibly the lives of their family members. Finding the list, files, photographs, and previous testimonies or records should be especially helpful. I hope each woman harmed will be safe, and whether or not she can share the fact, I hope that legal steps can provide peace and/or comfort. Nobody should have to continue suffering for the wrongs forced upon her. No abused person should have to continue suffering.

These now young adult survivors are barely remembered (if at all) as the press and podcasts, etc. scream for this or that about the whole Jeffrey Epstein debacle becomes more of a circus everyday. I get that this is national news and I agree that whoever was in on raping these child victims. The now young women are reliving their drama as all this drags on and yet they are forgotten. Every friggen article should begin with this and the call should be to get this done quickly. No woman should be expected to speak out. Their testimony is in black and white.

— how many republicans on the list? How many SCOTUS’s? I’d guess each one who seems unaccountably loyal, criticized him in the past but flipped, seems stonily cooperative, or cooperates/collaborates while looking like they’re coming off electro shock therapy. The list itself has to be blackmail fodder, just like Russia was going to use with threats of videos exposing HIM, his party girls and golden showers.

If Epstein’s list is fair game, parts of the Russia probe should be too. So many unanswered questions. Are they connected? Have both been buried in one of his golf courses? How’s his perfume selling?

Will they ever be held accountable for the crimes they have committed. They are more of a threat than any immigrant in this country. And they conveniently forget we all came from immigrant ancestors. I think instead of deporting innocent immigrants, we deport the lot of Trump lackeys or better yet put them into Alligator Alcatraz. How fitting that would be. They continue to hurt Americans no matter how cruel it is. The crueler, the better. And they are supposed to be Christians? I think not. Jesus never was cruel to anyone. He loved and accepted everyone and helped the people who needed it the most. Religion like everything else with these people is just a tool. If I was related to anyone of them, I would be ashamed to admit it. Thank you to you Ben and your brothers for bringing us the truth every day.

I just want to add a note about Wildgrain. I live alone and got tired of throwing away moldy bread items because I couldn't eat them up soon enough, so I subscribed to Wildgrain. I absolutely love it. You get to pick the artisan items you want (including pasta, bread, ham & cheese croissants, etc.) You can change your order every month and even during this heat wave, the items in my box are still frozen when delivered, but I live in a large metropolitan area). I can heat up an item and eat it hot and fresh as I want to. I don't get paid by Wildgrain, I just really love this subscription service.
