Donald Trump woke up on Election Day to a harsh reality: his power is slipping away, and it appears a blue wave is rising. As millions of Americans head to the polls, Trump spent his morning panic posting on social media, attacking the courts, state elections, and even Jewish Americans who dare to vote against his wishes. It’s the kind of unhinged meltdown that reveals not strength, but desperation. Or as Governor Gavin Newsom so eloquently calls it, “Weakness masquerading as strength.”
Speaking of Newsom, in post after post, Trump railed against the Prop 50 redistricting vote in California, calling it “a giant scam” and claiming that “the voting itself is rigged.” He falsely declared that mail-in ballots were under “criminal review” and accused California Democrats of shutting out Republicans. One again Trump is undermining democracy because he’s losing. As California Governor Gavin Newsom put it, these are “the ramblings of an old man who knows he’s about to lose.”
But Trump didn’t stop there. He went further, announcing that he will refuse to comply with a federal court order requiring his administration to deliver SNAP food stamp benefits to millions of Americans. In his own words, Trump said the payments “will be given only when the radical left Democrats open up government, and not before.” Just more lies, cruelty, and lawlessness. The court ordered him to provide aid to people who are starving, and Trump responded by saying he’d rather let them suffer. That’s right: Trump won’t even let them eat cake.
As I explained in my report, Trump’s refusal to follow court orders is an attack on the very foundations of our legal system. His administration has already failed to comply once, offering only “half payments” before lawyers for public interest groups went back to court to demand action.
And as Americans struggle to pay rent and buy groceries, Trump partied. Literally. While millions face hunger, he threw a “Great Gatsby/Roaring 20s” themed gala at Mar-a-Lago, complete with half-naked dancers in martini glasses. His slogan for the night: “A little partying never killed nobody.” Except, of course, his government is starving its own people.
When asked about the hypocrisy, House Speaker Mike Johnson AkA “MAGA Mike” actually defended the party as an “obligatory tradition.” He claimed Trump was “bending over backwards” to help Americans, even as Trump explicitly said he’d ignore the court order. This is who these Republicans have become: apologists for cruelty. They wrap their betrayal in bureaucratic jargon, hoping the American people won’t notice that they are, as Trump’s admitted, refusing to follow the court order.
As all this unfolds, Trump is also attacking Jewish Americans, writing that “any Jewish person that votes for Zohran Mamdani… is a stupid person.” The anti-Semitism is so blatant, so disgusting, that it scarcely requires commentary. This is the man who claims to be the voice of Jewish Americans while platforming white nationalists and Holocaust deniers.

Now back to my report.
As all this is going on, the country is bracing for more Trump-induced chaos. Trump’s government shutdown has pushed the Department of Transportation to warn that U.S. airspace could face closures if air traffic controllers miss another paycheck. The Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy, yes the Sean Duffy who’s previous claim to fame was as a cast member of MTV’s Road Rules reality show, said it could trigger “mass flight delays and cancellations.” Millions are also on the brink of losing unemployment insurance and healthcare.
And yet, Trump’s regime remains focused on revenge and conspiracy. Even his former lawyer turned prosecutor, Lindsey Halligan, is under fire for allegedly hiding grand jury transcripts from a federal judge in the James Comey case. The judge has ordered her to turn over the full record after discovering that Halligan had cut out her own statements from the documents. Don’t lose sight of this story. This is likely to get very bad for Halligan, very fast.
Today, as the votes are cast, Americans face a clear choice between democracy and dictatorship, between a government that feeds its people and one that starves them for sport. Trump’s meltdown tells the story of a movement in decline. And the people voting are currently writing the next chapter of our nation’s story.
