Yep my 95 year old mother refuses to listen to anything I say about Trump or what he's doing to ALL of us. She only looks at the R by the candidate's name when she votes. Did it forever, because that's what my dad told her to do. He did the same to me until I got married and got a brain of my own. He was exactly like rumpty...no tears from me at his funeral.
I agree. Republicans - especially “good” Republicans are loyal to party and especially loyal to family history of Republican roots. And they are single minded, and self-interested financially, in backing their party. They stick together. Democrats are diverse in their thinking and have strong disagreements within the party. And we loudly back issues that are not primary but can be addressed if we win. But we have to win in our system. Party loyalty is not dependable. We tend to be issue loyal - and we do not all back every issue. We shame those who don’t, but not every issue is equal when it comes to winning elections. In a perfect world, they would be. But in this situation whole groups withholding their votes because of their issue doesn’t work - and they do/did. I cannot imagine being a recent immigrant and voting for Trump - especially Hispanic. But it happened. I cannot imagine being a Muslim and voting for a man who was moved the American Embassy to Jerusalem, attempted a Muslim ban, and was playing footsie with an equally bad Netanyahu, but it happened.
I could go on, but we are a big tent party and big tents include multiple points of view. And we pay attention to every one of them. There is a good side and a bad side to that. The good side, based in morality, is that our intention is inclusion and respect. The bad side is that we are not playing to win. Only if we win can we be positioned to address the diverse issues that concern us.
For me, it is hard to feel good about people who have depended on the Democratic party - and they have - and individual Democrats - like me and probs my you- people who have helped them and advocated for them when they have really needed it, and I have- voting for Republicans who have acted against them so many times. Or, just as bad, voting Democrat down ballot but not voting for President at all. That happened, too. Some of our voters don’t seem to get the way it works. Others just bite the hand that feeds them. And the rest of us can’t seem to zero in on what our message should be. We are a big tent party. But those we have brought into that tent - once inside take over. And some of those whitetail st their own interests and the party that advocated for them when they needed it most are already suffering themselves. Think - citizens picked up by ICE. Think fundamentalist Christian nationalists who have no room for religion other than their own. Democrats are going to have to hold their noses and focus. This may be a diverse country, but we have to win to get anything done. I was thinking that a few days ago - I never see any trump signs, stickers or flags flying off the back of peoples cars or trucks or, rarely, wearing trump hats. And I live in a red county in Cali. But what does that mean really? I can't decide if that is a good sign or that trump supporters are just more in hiding for fear of blow-back. For one thing, it does mean that people are afraid to put anything on their car/truck or wear trump merch for fear of hostility or someone vandalizing their vehicle. Is that maybe all it means?
I very much doubt it (these are NOT people who thing things through), but if that's so, it serves them right. I haven't put any bumper stickers on my car because I like to go to places in remote rural areas for recreation - the kind of places where the signs on the gates blocking old roads that are now trails are always all shot up.

The uniting theme of P2025 & Maga is Christian Nationalism. What is confusing is it is REAL flexible on the Christian part. It's all about superiority & dominance. We better figure out quick how to get there from here, letting maga destroy democracy isn't going to get it. He offers good advice, including staying calm and staying as fit as you can in order to get through whatever is coming. Most of us are not qualified for an army. I’m 75 and have a bad back. But if you do something and need an alibi, you can call me. If you are physically and emotionally able, learn to use a weapon. Go look at Jack’s Substack. You will feel better. 👹

Oh, my, goodness, Cohen, I almost burst into tears when I saw the TRUMP gold letters on the White House, o-u-r White House. THIS is for far longer than "a generation;" it's for lifetimes to come, if the MAGATS have their way. They're ALL demented!! And, it's so damn disgusting that they're getting away with all the dismantling and dishonoring of our democratic institutions and the rule of law. How far into the future will it take before people look back and say that everything was sabotaged by a guy with dementia? How long will people suffer before this vile trash is a done-deal? I, for one, can't wait!! It bothers me from early morning to late night and even when I get up during the night. It's the Bubonic Plague. It's a venereal disease. It's the worst thing that could ever happen to us, and I want it to be over already. I worry for our citizens. I'm concerned for our children, all of them. My heart aches for the families who never seem to get a break. But, I'm also very grateful for the MTN, independent media, and everyone leading the way, fighting for us, encouraging us, reminding us that this, too, will pass.
