Trump's Kennedy Center Presser Was an Absolute Disaster

From defending Russian hacking to bragging about grass, Trump’s latest press conference was an incoherent authoritarian mess.

Donald Trump just held what was supposed to be an announcement about the Kennedy Center Honors, and somehow turned it into a free-flowing disaster of self-aggrandizement, foreign policy blunders, and incoherent tangents. I watched so you don’t have to. But let me fill you in.

Picture this: Trump flanked by two women in evening gowns, talking about award nominees… and then casually saying he’s fine with Russia hacking U.S. infrastructure because “that’s just what Russia does.” He even admitted he couldn’t convince Putin to stop bombing civilians in Ukraine and still called it “Biden’s war.” That’s not leadership. That’s pathetic. That’s enabling a war criminal.

The event ping-ponged from the absurd to the dangerous. Trump bragged that he decides Kennedy Center honorees based on whether they’re “woke,” ranted about the “Russia hoax” and Hillary Clinton, threatened long-term federal takeovers of Washington, D.C. without Congress, and threw in attacks on the Federal Reserve chair and Elizabeth Warren for good measure.

At one point, he went on about redecorating the Fed building with “the most magnificent silk wallpaper,” bragged about his name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and promised to “redo the grass” in D.C. using his golf course expertise. He then proceeded to ramble incoherently about grass. It was weird.

In between, he claimed America is taking in “trillions” from tariffs — which is a flat-out lie — and bizarrely said foreign countries took advantage of us “like children.” An unfortunate choice of words from Epstein’s former best friend.

Back to my report.

This was authoritarian theater wrapped in delusion. Trump openly talked about bypassing Congress to extend his D.C. National Guard deployment, turning cultural awards into political loyalty tests, and rewriting history to frame himself as the perpetual victim. And all of it, every last bit, was drenched in the same self-obsession and grievance-soaked paranoia that defined his presidency.

We’re going to keep exposing it all. Keep liking these posts, spreading the word, stay loud, and stay in the fight. And consider joining now as a paid subscriber to keep our independent reporting going.
