Article II, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution establishes the grounds for impeachment, stating that the President, Vice President, and all civil officers can be removed from office for treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. This section outlines the "impeachable offenses" and serves as a mechanism for accountability for high-ranking federal officials, according to the Library of Congress, FindLaw, and Legal Information Institute.

Who can be impeached: The President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States.

Grounds for impeachment: Treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

Purpose: To provide a constitutional process for removing officials who commit serious offenses.

Yes we need to get rid of all of them along with the MAGAs who have been placed strategically throughout the govt (more like a regime now). But who is going to do this? Why hasn’t this been done already because treason etc has been going on since Day 1? So much damage has been done by all these traitors along with the Project 2025 gang.

DJT actually committed treason in 2021 when he incited a riot in his effort to overthrow an election. Which was why house democrats impeached him the second time.

Although legal scholars have debated the “definition” of treason, the Miriam-Webster dictionary definition…

“…treason is the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.”

And it defines - “the betrayal of trust as TREACHERY”

But the Senate refused to indict Trump for either cause. If they had indicted him, removed him from office and call for an investigation, he would have been prevented from running for office ever again. But instead they looked the other way, and they broke their oaths to protect and defend the constitution and obey the rule of law.

Then they had the brazen audacity to elect him AGAIN, as a convicted felon and as a sexual predator. And there are those who believe he should now be registered on the national sex offenders list.

So here we are. Republicans control both chambers so they could immediately stop this madman from destroying our country. WHY haven’t they? is the burning question.

I really, really wish I could say the impeachment process would start tomorrow, but it will not.

The republicans will never turn on him like that. Sure, a few have stood up for the survivors, a couple against tariffs, but we dare not expect anything more than that.

Look what they have done, and are doing. Gave the wealthiest among us huge-permanent-tax breaks by stripping healthcare away from millions of people. They will never extend the ACA subsidies, they need that money to pay for the tax cuts for the wealthy.

They took a huge amount of money from SNAP, now they are asking SCOTUS not to make them pay it for November at all. They are willing, allowing people to die-for trump.

The only way trump will ever be impeached, again, and this time removed, is for democrats to win back the house and the senate. We should be able to take back the house but the senate will be much harder.

We have to rally, get everyone out to vote in November 26, this is the best and maybe only way to save our country.

People do need to start researching vance, he is a very dangerous person, I believe more so than trump. He does not need incentives like trump or told what to do by Steven miller. vance has a brain and he is cruel, he was chosen and put in this position for one reason only, to destroy our country.

Everyone needs to know what we will be up against with vance, we need to be prepared.

Expand full comment
Deborah Newman's avatar

You are absolutely right about Vance. Peter Thiel, the Silicon Valley billionaire who is Trump’s ally and Project 2025 conspirator, is Vance’s prior boss and mentor. Thiel paid for Vance’s senate campaign and oversaw his rise through politics. Thiel coerced Trump to take on Vance as VP or else he wouldn’t donate to Trump’s campaign. As we know Trump only cares about money.

Vance is Thiel’s and P2025’s choice for their next puppet president to continue the destruction of democracy and our country. Vance is not to be taken lightly at all. He once said Trump is the American Hitler. He lacked telling us he would be one too.

Expand full comment
Janet Willsey's avatar

Absolutely!

There are a couple of more pieces. vance is a white christian nationalist, he is a member of the heritage foundation-project 2025, he is friends with Kevin Roberts-the president of the heritage foundation. trump is also friends with Roberts. Thiel and Roberts took vance to meet trump and they told trump was going to be his vp-trump did not have a choice.

There is an author, he also gives speeches, that vance and thiel follow. His name is Curtis Yarvin- he is a scary guy too.

Expand full comment
Deborah Newman's avatar

Yes Curtis Yarvin is creepy and dangerous. He promotes the “ Dark Enlightenment” movement where democracy is gutted and the country is run by corporate CEO’s (and many other nefarious and pretty horrible beliefs). He said democracy is dead. A large population of republicans including Vance have bought into his ideology. I don’t think Trump really cares about any beliefs except money, power and adoration.

Pretty awful and hard to believe. It’s like a sci-fi movie except it’s real. Why has no one paid attention to all this and Project 2025? I gave up writing about it and contacting senators.

Thank you 😊 I am not much of a book reader, I love doing the research and that keeps me pretty busy.

I believe, strongly, the fight is ours to have. Yes, we have the courts, elected democrats, ACLU etc, but the fight belongs to us, the True Americans.

We have made huge progress and we cannot back down.

The protests are getting to him more and more. He is a narcissist, he does not know how to handle the rejection and the hate he is receiving, especially since there is so much of it.

I am almost positive that in his warped, disturbed tiny mind, he does not think he did anything wrong when he raped those girls, not to mention all of the women.

I predict that he is going to be so mad, because he is cornered and that is a new experience for him, he will say as much out loud.

In the meantime, I am suggesting to everyone to document everything. With the evil bastard erasing our history, we need to be the journalists, the historians and the story tellers. It is up to us to tell the next generation and many more to come, what America was really like, what we stand for.

As I am sure you know, he has been removing our history from databanks, destroying pictures, removing plaques, making museums remove anything negative about him, erasing black history, and on and on.

I believe we need to take pictures and video of everything we can. Plaques, statues, landmarks, landscapes. Keep a journal of what is happening, the evils they are doing to us.

I know it sounds dumb, but I believe we need to also keep all movies that are based on true events. If things go wrong, they will become our history lessons for our children and their children.

I believe we need to do everything we can to preserve our history, to protect it, to make sure that the truth of our country is known, just in case.

I am sorry for the rant, again, thank you for the compliment. 😊

Black Raven, I do not want to be rude, you do not impeach under the 25th amendment, they are two separate things.

The 25th amendment is for his cabinet to use. If they all agree that trump is unfit to be the “president” they can have him removed under the 25th amendment.

I, personally, do not believe that will happen.

I never said he needed to be impeached under the 25th Amendment. Did you read my comment? The orange shit stain pervert. Needs to be impeached for TREASON. He's invaded blue states waging war on American citizens. That's treason. He's given aid and comfort to foreign enemies. Like Russia 🇷🇺/ Putin. Orbán and the Argentine "president". In my opinion, and many people agree with me He's committed treason ten-fold. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Treason is the crime of betraying one's country, which includes levying war against it or adhering to its enemies, giving them aid and comfort. In the U.S., treason is narrowly defined by the Constitution to prevent its political misuse. It is the only crime specifically defined in the U.S. Constitution, which requires the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act or a confession in open court for a conviction.

Key elements of treason

Levying war: This refers to waging war against the United States.

Adhering to enemies: This involves aiding, comforting, or giving support to the country's enemies. This could include providing them with secrets or other material assistance.

Allegiance: A person must owe allegiance to the country to be charged with treason.

Overt act: A conviction requires proof of a specific, observable action taken by the accused.

Two-witness rule: A conviction can only occur if two witnesses testify to the same overt act, or if the accused confesses in open court. This is a strict legal requirement to protect against false accusations.

Distinguishing from other crimes

Treason vs. sedition: Treason is the act of betraying your country to a foreign power, while sedition is the crime of inciting rebellion or resistance against the government within the country.

Treason vs. espionage: While espionage (spying for a foreign power) can be an act of treason, the two are not identical. Treason is specifically defined in a legal sense as the betrayal of one's country to an enemy state.

Examples

Benedict Arnold: During the American Revolutionary War, he gave the British plans for the fort at West Point.

John Brown: An abolitionist who attacked a federal arsenal in 1859.

Guy Fawkes: Tried to blow up the English Parliament in 1605.

Republicans are putting their careers, their power above the people and the country. trump has threatened them with primaries if they do not fall and stay inline.

They will never impeach him. The 25th Amendment is what his cabinet uses to remove a president. If they all agree that he is unfit to be “president” they can use the 25th amendment to remove him. I personally believe that will never happen either.

In his second impeachment, Moscow Mitch rallied the troops so they would not remove him.

The Constitution says if you are convicted of insurrection, you are never allowed to hold elected office again. I believe it was Colorado whose court found that trump was guilty of insurrection. scotus stepped in and made up some crap that is not in the constitution. Something about they have to pass a law in order for someone not to be allowed to hold office. They did not really address the fact that Colorado found him guilty of insurrection.

Legally, he should not be allowed to hold any elected office again.

I am still angry and confused why this was not used to keep him from running again.

They want Norway. A bit of socialism can work in the USA, Example: The GI bill after WW2, increased college graduation rates 3 fold. Led to the strong middle class. And man on the moon.

I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant. I believe … there is still hope for a brighter tomorrow.

I believe that wounded justice, lying prostrate on the blood-flowing streets of our nations, can be lifted from this dust of shame to reign supreme among the children of men. I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits.

I believe that what self-centered men have torn down men other-centered can build up. I still believe that …. every man shall sit under his own vine and fig tree and none shall be afraid.” I still believe that we shall overcome! I accept this award in the spirit of a curator of some precious heirloom which he holds in trust for its true owners – all those to whom beauty is truth and truth beauty – and in whose eyes the beauty of genuine brotherhood and peace is more precious than diamonds or silver or gold.
