Three words republicans.. “Twenty Fifth Amendment” ….It’s not that difficult.

JohnC-Va's avatar

What the Congressional/Cabinet dummies apparently don’t get about this is the potential for the dictator to go completely apeshit crazy and create a horrific catastrophe that they will be blamed for because they wouldn’t get his demented ass out of there. Vance thinks he’s got 2028 locked up, but he runs the risk of being completely at fault for letting this go on and the world getting blown up by someone who the whole world knew was out of his mind.

Catherine Voight's avatar

Vance has nothing “locked up” and with each passing day the odds get worse. He won’t invoke the 25th as he is riding this gravy train until he vacated the country.

JohnC-Va's avatar

Yeah, it’s only one scenario among many possibllities. Nothing seems to get through to these morons, but one pressure point that might work is telling them they will be blamed for everything that the stupid slob does between now and whenever he wanders off into the Potomac at 2AM and drowns or downs a dozen cheeseburgers and strokes out.

Catherine Voight's avatar

Love the wander into the Potomac! I have called for being dragged into the ocean by an alligator

Teri Gelini's avatar

Alligators are mostly fresh water so it would need to be a crocodile lol

Fraser's avatar

Hey, a Scorpion around Mar al Fuego works as well!!

Andrew Waters's avatar

Enough with the pedantry!!😊 Let him wander into the ocean so he can experience 'Shark Week" for eternity, or wander into one of Florida's many waterways and get some gator aid... that or a Burmese Python wrap.

Cyd Peace's avatar

How about a crocodile drags him to the ocean where he passes him off to an alligator that drags him the rest of the way lolol (lots of lol)

Fraser's avatar

Quite suitable as well!!

Laurie Sinclair's avatar

Maybe his family will love living in Russia when his political career is over. Or Venezuela? I don't imagine he would be all that popular in either country.

Fraser's avatar

Yes, the fellow prisoners would love it!!

All of this makes no sense … it’s like continuing to watch that one movie that got all bad reviews , and you hope the actors in it can salvage the horrible script ..!

Now would be a time for ANYONE thinking of becoming the next presidential candidate, to form a plan on what to do , both legally and involving masses of people!

I know it’s a stretch , but dangit I want a Hollywood super -hero ending sooner than later !!

Edward mead's avatar

J.D.Vance needs to worry. How will he explain Erica Kirk's baby to Vance's wife?

Linda Weide's avatar

Those of us living abroad are following the Greenland situation like it is our 2 year old child. It may affect whether we can stay in the countries we live in. I hope by 2028 Vance is locked up along with the megalomaniac criminal Trump.

Candace Lucas's avatar

he's far from having it locked up. few voters like him, and he won't be able to pull the shit that trump has because Congress isn't afraid he'll sic maga on them. Vance couldn't sic a puppy on anybody. he doesn't have maga behind him

AMY STARKEY's avatar

But he has the tech bros and the money on his side which is very scary to me.

Sylvia Arrowood's avatar

Vance has nothing locked up. No one likes him and he is just as demented as all the others. I guess Republicans do not care how stupid we look to the world.

Dee Joy's avatar

Vacation Vance and his master Thiel are dreaming.

Everyone hates him and his owners, the greedy, evil oligarchs.

Sharon Armstrong's avatar

Vance doesn’t hold any real power.

Julia Johnson's avatar

They aren’t stupid or cowardly. They believe they will have a part of the power & $$ the current GOP is siphoning off from the rest fo us. And they don’t intend to allow elections to be anything but performative. This administration is waiting for Minnesota to blow up in any type of armed resistance to use the insurrection act, claim a national emergency (because of “antifa”, natch) and cancel elections. Even if elections proceed, who honestly believes the election will be free and fair? Who thinks that the government will claim victory, regardless of the actual votes?

Glenda torres's avatar

Why aren’t the Trumpets embarrassed - are they that weak ? Like blind sheep

Actually, it is 2/3 of the members present, so we could appropriately consider those who elect not to participate to avoid being compelled to cast a vote to reduce the number below 67. Assume for purposes of argument that all of the Democratic Party Senators and Independents who caucus with them will vote to convict. The issue then is whether we can identify enough GOP Senators who have the sense and the cojones to say enough is enough. That has of course been the issue all along.

I did not say it would. It is however a scenario that is, if not likely granted the GOP Senators in place, preferable to the 25th Amendment option (also unlikely) which gives us JD in Trump’s place.

sharon's avatar

You also need 67 senators and 2/3 house to vote to invoke the 25th.

"Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office."

Ain't gonna happen.

Dik de Bruijn's avatar

It is that difficult. Invoking the 25th Amendment requires that either Trumpty Dumpty admit that he can't do the job OR Shady Vance has to start the proceedings. Pretty sure neither is going to happen any time soon.

Laura Downing's avatar

💯👍🏼‼️

Linda Weide's avatar

I still hope for midterms that can allow both impeachment of Trump and Vance but a replacement of Mike Johnson with a Dem. That would mean that impeachment with removal would have the number 3 in the White House if successful.

What is going on at Davos has been described as Trump is a madman. Anne Applebaum wrote that he was crazy and so have countless other people. Ruth Ben-Ghiat described him as a megalomaniac. Meanwhile Americans living abroad are figuring out if they have to leave their country if Trump attacks Greenland and we live in a country that is defending it. The King of Norway just sent a letter to all his people telling them that during war citizens property may be appropriated. My friends here in Germany were saying that Scandi is usually the most on top of things, so we can count on this too.

We also learned that we might be considered Enemy aliens and be asked to leave or kept under surveillance. So, having a madman as president who is going to escalate until the Epstein files are either released or no longer a threat is horrid for the rest of us.

Joanne Gatsis's avatar

Yep and they don't have those thingy's either!

Pat Robinson's avatar

That is not going to happen so we have to work extra hard to circumvent the actions of Congress by going to court, voting blue in all elections, and pressuring mainstream media to start to hold the Republican party accountable for everything trump is doing.

Claire's avatar

Mainstream media, or Nazi media, are pathetic losers. I wouldn't rely on them.

Pat Robinson's avatar

I agree that we cannot rely on them but I think we should continuously remind them of what they should be doing, what they used to do and the fact that their viewership numbers are falling faster than ever. They will not change, but I feel better just reminding them why they are losing viewers, and I'd think at some time revenue...why will advertisers want to advertise on shows no one watches?

Dee Joy's avatar

This is why billionaires should NOT be allowed to own ALL media.

These evil, nazi oligarchs who support trump will never allow msm to tell the truth.

They're deliberately brainwashing the masses.

Divide and conquer.

Pat Robinson's avatar

True. On the bright side, by allowing their standards to no longer exist (not just fall to below anything we ever expected, but to really have no standards) I think lots of folks are moving away from network news and that means we are avoiding all the advertisements designed to get us to buy things we don't need. I still have old fashioned TV and unless I record something, I can't fast forward though the ads and boy are they annoying!!!! And so misleading!!! Aat least with the you tube news I watch there is a button to click that says skip ad. I also am not sure, but think maybe local news is providing coverage that is more truthful and more folks watch and listen to that. When your local community is suffering from ICE raids or high grocery prices or no more markets for soybeans, it's hard to not report on it, and it's even a little hard to not discuss that the policies of the trump administration are responsible for it. It's much harder to lie about the reality your viewers see every day than to lie to a larger audience that might believe it's only "them" who are suffering and it's their own fault.

Trump has shared what must be the worst graph ever created. It depicts mortgage rates but is entirely manipulated to portray him as having saved the US from Biden’s high rates. However, his own graph presented correctly contradicts this narrative, showing a downward trend. The most ridiculous aspect is that simply stating Biden’s 8% was bad and Trump’s 5.7% is good would have been far more effective messaging than this graph. It’s truly the bane of my existence.

What can we do? We protest and they don’t listen. No one wants this, and if they say they do they are blinded by a madman’s ego.

Pat Robinson's avatar

We can and must continue to protest and to write and call and to pressure mainstream media to hold the Republican Party accountable for trump's actions, to get them to do hard core interviewing of Republicans about their feelings about Russia, their concrete ideas to help working class Americans and not allow them to get off with the lies that the administration tells them to say..show them the video of the American citizen being pulled from his house by ICE for no reason and ask them to state for the record why they support that. We need to support all the organizations like ACLU and CREW who are suing (and winning a large percent of the time) and groups like Save America Movement that provides people on the ground and/or in vans where ever ICE is to video their actions as well as provide help to citizens being impacted by the occupation. In a way it doesn't matter is no Republicans are listening if other citizens are listening and will go out to vote. If we can get a majority in either house the Republicans will no longer have power and it won't matter if they are listening or not then. Of course we may not have a big enough majority to do much but at least we will be able to prevent things from happening.

Thank you Kelvin, you are very kind.

If your premonition is true, that means that some of the so-called "founders" of this ultimate plan will inevitably find themselves in the role of Ernst Rohm, because those who are treacherous will inevitably sacrifice those who don't perfectly align with their goals or eliminate them at the slightest hint of their own popularity or questioning.

Thank you for the reference, during trump's first term, the clear expressions of racism and opening up that door for more prejudicial expression was the most profound eye opener for me to discover that so many people harbor such hatred. How it manifested is critical to addressing it for future generations. We know the "plan" for the brown skin people, we see the "plan" for the left-wing protestors". If this is true, something more is coming for the LGBTQ, African Americans and ultimately additional forms of curtailment for the women too. You've given me something concrete to think about. I wish it wasn't so, but it makes sense. This really is like a second civil war.

Candace Lucas's avatar

they might want to remember how it ended for Hitler's circle. Yes, Ernst Rohm who hitler turned on. suicide by many, hanging for a several more, prison sentences. Only one or two escaped unpunished.

If that doesn't scare them, they might want to think about the French revolution...when the people had had enough, they turned on the leaders (the aristocrats). Not too many of them escaped the guillotine.
