URGENT Message from MeidasTouch Founder…
By Ben Meiselas
Hello Meidas Mighty. This is Ben Meiselas, founder of the MeidasTouch Network.
I wanted to urgently speak with you now that the United States government has officially shut down.
Before I go on, I want to thank all of our subscribers to this Substack, and I want to ask anyone who is not yet a subscriber to help by becoming one today.
I know these are scary times. I know what you must be going through. You’ve shared your stories with me. I know from your stories how courageous you are. I know the power that you hold. The fact that we are here together fighting back against this regime in October is a major testament to your strength.
Trump wanted to crush resistance and dissent in the first 100 days—and he failed. His approval is plummeting. He is deeply unpopular. His policies are despised. And, as of this post, Americans rightfully blame the shutdown on Trump and Republicans. This is the Trump shutdown.
AOC said it best last night when she explained that authoritarian regimes like Trump depend on intimidating people into submission in advance.
You’ve heard me use the phrase before, as it relates to authoritarianism: never obey in advance. Trump and his demented brigade of fascists are relentless in their preoccupation with control and destruction and their desire for power. They don’t know how to build or behave as responsible human beings on this planet.
This government shutdown is going to test us once again. Trump wants a shutdown for a lot of reasons, but also because he thinks he can use it to break us and further divide us. Trump’s prior actions have already effectively shut down government. We don’t have a working government in the United States. We have a madman who wakes up and starts posting about QAnon conspiracies and tariffs on an average day, and on other days posts about invading American cities or blowing up Venezuelan fishing boats with death videos.
What’s most important during this shutdown—from the perspective of what we can control at the MeidasTouch Network—is that we must flood the zone with the truth. But more than that, we have to always answer the “why” and the “what” as it relates to why we are fighting and what we are fighting for. You’ve heard me say this before, but let me repeat it now since it’s more important than ever: we must focus on our values and our principles. We must not be afraid to fight for empathy, love, equality, and a better planet—and we must ensure that basic human dignity and the rights and freedoms of people are protected. When we lead with values and principles and flood the zone with truthful facts, that’s a winning recipe to fight back against the Trump regime.
We are winning the information war right now because we are remaining true to our values and we are relentlessly, tirelessly, and fearlessly speaking the truth. We cannot allow Trump’s distortions to bend reality about the shutdown. We have to reach as many people as we can.
As you’ve seen already, our coverage of the shutdown has been the most-watched digital news in the nation. We must keep it that way. We need accurate information to get out to all people now more than ever. My commitment to you is that we will continue our reporting and ensure the American people know what’s really happening.
Of course, we could use your help. You are already helping us by reading this and spreading the word about the MeidasTouch Network, so thank you for that. One way you can help right now is by subscribing to this Substack, which has been the biggest driver of growth for the MeidasTouch Network. Thank you for subscribing and thank you for spreading the word about the MeidasTouch Network.

“A shutdown falls on the president’s lack of leadership. I mean problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top. A shutdown means the president is weak.” — Donald J. Trump, 2013
Yes! People need to post the truth. The Republican Speaker sent his team home. If they were serious about governing and avoiding the shutdown and working towards solutions, he would not have done that.
