Yes and that is sad. When I am in northern Maine in Fort Kent, this is on the border of America & ,Canada with the St John River between us. Canadaians use to come over and do their grocery shopping, no more because the tatiff’s were high.
One of my friends cousin came to visit him. They stayed for a pizza dinner. He loved it so he bought a small one to go home with. Well because of the tariff it cost him $9 more to bring this pizza home to Canada.
Canadians and Americans are cousins, often literally. When a cousin marries a terrible spouse, all one can do is wait it out and hope the cousin comes to his or her senses. Then help with the recovery.
That is a perfect analogy! And in my work with victims of domestic abuse the research showed it took 10-12 times of leaving before the victim never went back...and the most dangerous time was after they left...that's when more victims were actually killed or seriously injured...sure sounds like what is going on in the US.

There are patterns that lead to abuse and we have seen them in full force in the USA on a major scale. I am thankful that Canada recognized them and has not bowed down. My mother's family all immigrated to Canada and I probably still have a few relatives that live there.
Every time I see a post made by a Canadian or someone from another country,that have their eyes open to the current disfunction, I know that they are seeing in real time why they do not want to follow in our footsteps right now.
I wonder if we count all the people in the world that will be better off because of what is going on in the US...both as their economies get stronger and as they become more aware that you have to be ever vigilant to maintain democracy if that number will outnumber the Americans who are being hurt so very much. I think China will be better off economically and if you just count them, that would out number the Americans. And for sure boys/men get abused and they never can talk about it....well, that's not quite true....I used to oversee foster care placement and I had two boys in foster homes that were sexually abused by their foster mothers and they had an easier time talking about it than girls did. But we also had a big time serial abuser who worked in the schools and it took years for any of the boys he molested to come forward, and even then only a few would offer to testify against him.

After watching a video of ICE thugs manhandling a young girl in Chicago for apparently no good reason I am reminded of a the book written in1935 by Sinclair Lewis called it ‘It couldn’t happen here’ about an American President who becomes a Dictator employs a personal army of thugs called the Minute Men who are allowed to run amok attacking members of the public for no good reason. The reign of terror finally comes to an end and the President is deposed and goes into exile in France. That scenario is the only thing I don’t believe would happen. France wouldn’t want him here,

Did you see the guy who got stopped and claimed he "worked for trump". He was drunk with children in the car and was calling the officer(s) racist names? Turned out that he thought he could get away with it and got arrested.
I think it was Miller who gave the ICE thugs permission to do whatever they wanted because he said local law enforcement couldn't touch them. I want to see what will happen when one of the thugs ends up in court.
